Wealthy banker with connections to royalty is arrested in hunt for notorious 'Putney Pusher' | Daily Mail Online

I vividly remember this case which still haunts me and cannot believe it was ten years ago. Finally someone has been arrested who appears to be an ex army wealthy man.

I hope he is charged - so arrogant.

Is that (allegedly) the same man?? Sorry I've not caught up with earlier messages

As far as I know, no name has been released by the police in the Putney Pusher case nor are any of the regulated news sources in the UK reporting a name. However, internet sleuths yesterday spotted that there are many points of similarity between the information in the public domain about the man in the Hyde Park Corner case and the information that has somehow made its way into the public domain about the man arrested and now bailed in the Putney Pusher case - age, current profession, previous career, family connections, which part of London he lives in. It could all be giant misunderstanding, of course.

The media will just reprint it

Not so sure - look at the reporting of the woman arrested in the Wimbledon crash and there really isn’t much on her or her arrest and any articles about her either before or after the crash have disappeared. So the lawyers / PR company can work its magic to protect if they want to.

Same.

I hear you. I was once driving behind a male driver on a quiet residential street who was so incensed that the female driver coming in the other direction had right of way that when he couldn’t bully / scream her into giving him way, he drove onto the high pavement to avoid giving her way.

He preferred to damage his car rather than ‘lose face’ in front of a woman. When he left, the woman and I pulled up beside each other, I reassured her he was crazy, she was that shocked.

I regularly drive in narrow lanes and some people simply won't reverse even when they have literally just passed a passing place. My technique is to act like I can barely drive, actively looking down to the gear stick to find reverse, then reversing extremely slowly, getting the angle wrong so I have to pull forward to straighten up and try again. It drives them nuts whilst giving me great pleasure! 😆

There is plenty on her? There’s this prevailing myth that somehow she’s got rid of it all.

Some people speed up to get past the passing place.

Ha I do exactly the same!

So he’s been released?

While I totally sympathise with your approach, I also can't resist the opportunity to point out that this is a proper case of passive aggression - not the liberal usage of that term so many posters on here indulge in.

See also narc, which is so often used to mean "someone who did something that pissed me off."

Bolloxtoitall · 16/06/2026 11:23

I too think this was covered up re who the rumoured person is said to be connected to.

Thick and privileged old boy’s club still prevail.

Bailed. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceqdj4lg78eo

I don't know if people on bail routinely have to hand in their passports.

I think they can hold him for only so long without charge. But hopefully they’ll investigate and get him if he did it.

Also be mindful on steep escalators and steps, always watch your back and be ready to catch yourself in a fall in case some arse pushes you from behind.

Ha I do exactly the same!

I prefer to very swiftly execute the perfect reverse manoeuvre to allow them to pass, so they can see how simple it actually is then give a very passive aggressive thumbs up or an over eye roll when they go past (and by the way it is almost always men when this happens to me).

Sorry to be going off topic there OP.

what i cant believe is he ran past again 15 minutes later-i hope theyve got the right one this time

It's well known a lot of arsonists not only return to the fire they started, but often try to assist putting them out.

This happened at Bank Tube station, when I worked in London in 1990. I can find no trace of it on-line, but I clearly remember all the Police signs up asking for witnesses to come forward. IIRC the person did survive as they fell between the tracks.

I just saw that and came straight here-

Crazy that they have finally caught him.
Intrigued to know what his "defence" will be when you can clearly see what happened-

Me too! Saw the news and assumed there would be a thread here!

So glad he will (hopefully) get his comeuppance. Yet another case of misogyny and entitlement, and frankly, closed ranks.

It even mentions them on Wikipedia.

Though I suspect he will soon hire the same lawyers as the lady involved in the Wimbledon crash and all evidence of him and his family will be duly scrubbed off the internet.

If you mean the Wimbledon car crash at the school - she was in court this morning and goes on trial on July 14th at the Old Bailey

Driver who crashed into school and killed two girls arrives at court

Claire Freemantle, 49, of Wimbledon, is accused of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and seven counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Yes, but that doesn’t take away that most traces of them online have been scrubbed.

IIRC, there were a couple of Daily Mail articles about her which disappeared, an article pre-accident in which she discussed her house, as well as no reference at all to
her husband online, which is unusual for a senior professional. Yes, if you google her name she will appear in stories since her recent arrest and court appearance, but pre her arrest, there’s very little on her or her husband.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/06/2026 12:44

ISTR having to go to an Argentine news channel to read details about Freemantle a few months ago.

Nincompoo · 16/06/2026 12:45

The thing is it’s going to be a very difficult case to prove if he goes no-comment or completely denies any involvement - I have no idea where I was on x date ten years ago, and I expect it would be almost
impossible to prove unless I was on holiday or a meeting at work.

I’m not sure being in the same city and looking vaguely similar is going to cut it evidentially. If the police had been able to
use mobile phone signals they’d have done it already, and he’d have been charged.
