I do like a herbal tea occasionally, I like the pukka teas because they have very nice flavours but unfortunately it’s getting quite expensive now for a box

TodayIsatrickyone · 16/06/2026 13:15

Back from the dentist and resting in the garden. I officially love my dentist ❤️ as he’s miraculously managed to fill what was effectively hardly any tooth! He’s warned it may not last but right now I’m just relieved I don’t need another extraction as it would be too much right now.

Also after chatting it over with family and my stroke nurse, weve made a decision that we are going ahead with our cruise in July that weve had booked for 2 yeaes! When I was first discharged, I really thought I’d have to postpone but I’m recovering well and although not back to my baseline quite yet, Im doing a lot better than i expected. I’d prefer a bit longer to recover but even when I’ve been a bit stronger and we've been on them, I spend a lot of time just resting/ reading on the balcony and don’t manage ports like others would. If i feel unwell I can order room service. If I can get off once ( maybe in Italy as I’ve never been!) and have a coffee in Italy I’ll be delighted with that! Have my own mobility scooter and an adapted cabin so if I can just cope with getting there and getting on board, I’m hoping the rest and relaxation will do the whole family the world of good. Half excited, half terrified but feels like the right decision for us all.

Same here! Every so often Waitrose has them on offer but it's always worth googling. I bought a lot from somewhere like Staples a while ago and sometimes you can get catering packs on eBay. I always get 10 or 12 boxes at a time because I get through so many!

I’m not sure about starting a thread, I wouldn’t know what it would be about because I’m rubbish at thinking and I’m mostly a reader and occasional talker lol

Fair enough! I sometimes think it's just as valuable to be a good listener. People sometimes come on threads ( not this one!) very intent on getting a word in, they barely pay attention to other people, it's like they're just shouting over everyone else.

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/06/2026 13:47

@TodayIsatrickyone that is great news, both the tooth and the cruise! Something to look forward to.
@MewithME hope you've had a bit of a rest.

MewithME · 16/06/2026 13:52

@TeaAndStrumpets I'm still hard at it (resting....on the sofa!)

Tea talk is making me hanker for some.

I have been tempted to get a coffee machine for my little home office upstairs so I can have a cuppa before going up and downstairs of a morning. But I'd need to do a bit of organising and I'm not up to it yet.

We all need a Mrs Overall at times!

Yes, I do look at other threads and everyone just piles on and I don’t like the vibe. I like this vibe, the gentle vibe this thread has plus it helps that people relate

I'm glad @JewelleryCat . Yes, it's a harsh place out there. Feels like everyone just shouting at each other quite often.

I like our little corner and I'm grateful for your company.

Aww thank you. I’m grateful I found you all and that even with different chronic illnesses, we relate to each other 🙂

Long Covid since 2021. Energy levels fluctuate hugely. Cut down lots of brambles in our field on Friday and Saturday whilst listening to podcasts and didn't realise how long I'd been doing it. Sunday was a bit tired. Started a full on crash Sunday evening. On the sofa or in bed yesterday. Very wobbly today but popped to the local shops. Now back on the sofa again. Was supposed to be going out for the day with my husband....

TodayIsatrickyone · 16/06/2026 14:22

I agree this little corner is the best!
Keep resting @MewithME it’s all you can do.

Rest time for me with maybe a nap as feeling a tad shaky all of a sudden. Ordered a butterfly pillow I saw recommended for neck pain and it’s just arrived so will test it out!

So frustrating but easily done. We slowly tackled some brambles last summer and seemed to take forever but I understand the carrying on without realising you’ve done too much! I always want to just finish this bit….
Rest up and hope you can get your day out soon.

Oh it's the delayed reaction that trips me up every time!

And the thing is, I just won't learn! Drives my husband mad on occasions.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/06/2026 15:33

Seconding (thirding?) this is a gentle cosy corner. Browsing with a coffee is very pleasant 😊.

Swanhilde · 16/06/2026 17:20

Home from work and in bed with a cuppa and cheese and crackers. Not smelly unfortunately, bog standard (but still tasty) cheddar 🧀

I'm shattered. Didn't sleep well last night and woke with a headache which has lingered all day despite paracetamol 😟

Early night for me, for a change 😆

Take it easy everyone 💕

Tryonemoretime · 16/06/2026 18:49

I'm so grateful for this thread. I don't want anyone to have a chronic illness, but it's helpful to me to know others understand how frustrating it can be. None of us choose to be this way. For me, knowing that being a Christian doesn't shield you from being ill also helps - as does knowing that my life is in God's hands.

Oioiqueen · 16/06/2026 19:50

Hope you all are having a calm slower evening.

Not long back from chemo, I am wiped. Just about to make a brew and try and flush some of it out in the hope tomorrow isn't too bad. Really frustrated to find I've lost weight again this week. I started on 61kg went up to 64kg at my highest and now back down to 62.1kg. I really need to kick my arse into gear and eat more. I'm hoping it's muscle mass I've lost as I haven't been doing the weights that I was doing with the PT a couple of months ago. It might not seem a massive loss but I'm only 5'4 and quite slim in frame anyway so the slightest loss looks huge in reality for me.

It's so hard to stay calm sometimes! You are in good company. It's nice to have this quiet corner to ourselves.

My DD1 is coming over tomorrow to borrow my electronic scales because she has decided the GP scales are conspiring against her! She's been trying to lose weight but she's gaining fast. A friend's scales weigh her about half a stone lighter so mine will have the deciding vote! She claims it's all muscle.....
