" I want them gone" Who? Where?

Is this an attempt to frighten the PP who said,

"I want them gone" by implying that the reply will be racist?

I am not the PP but as I and most others-including yourself-know exactly what she means, I will answer for her.

The Who: She means immigrants-both legal and illegal-who repay their host country by committing crimes.

The Where: Back to their home country. If they say they have no home country then, rather like the Ancient Mariner, sailing the seven seas.

I do hope that is clear and may I anticipate your cry of racism by saying I , quite simply, do not give a fuck.

No respectable news organisation should be anywhere near twitter. It's a bin fire.

Yet so many end up having to follow twitters lead when it becomes too embarrassing to ignore.

So you think evidence of paramilitary activity is the same as ‘these things are common in other countries’. There’s fairly solid evidence of the IDF targeting children, should we ban Israelis from entering the UK? Are all Russians responsible for Putin?

From what’s reported so far the attacker was here on a visa, which would suggest he’s provided ID and criminal records info. Let’s see what comes out.

How are you checking who is arriving from Sudan? If a visa can’t even highlight it that is problematic.

Allisnotlost1 · Yesterday 13:41

Nowhere, but is as strongly associated with Belfast paramilitaries as beheading is with Sudanese paramilitaries.

Are you unaware of what is happening in Sudan, right now?

Emigration is where you leave a country. At least use the correct terminology to describe British people leaving to go to another country.

A British citizen leaving the UK to live in another country is an immigrant to that country.

ChangeyNameyforthis · Yesterday 13:49

I’m glad that there are people, hero’s, that step in. That man would be dead if not.

They shouldn’t have to risk their lives though. That Sudanese man shouldn’t be here in the first place.

I am waiting with my bingo card for the next few days news briefings from authorities;

He was known to police
Someone had contacted the authorities and warned them about him, but didn’t take it seriously as they don’t want to be racist
Lessons will be learnt
Mental health issues

Bingo!

it's not the litmus test on popular opinion that it used to be because so many people left and don't engage with it.

Indeed, and has to follow whatever immigration or ex pat laws that country has. Most of which are very stringent and do not grant any access to local benefits.

Sunglade · Yesterday 13:51

Allisnotlost1 · Yesterday 13:47

Did you come to the UK because of benefits?

It's disingenuous to imply that the majority of illegal migrants arriving in the UK aren't housed and given money for free it is clearly the status quo. I say this as a person who works directly with migrants of various kinds but even if you don't have anything to do with them you know this surely? Many of them can barely speak a word of English, of course they are supported. By implying it's not the norm you're just showing yourself to be either oblivious or pretending to be oblivious as a virtue signal..

No one has scorn nailed quite like a liberal who is faced with a minority not toeing the line.

It obviously wasn’t a rush if you waited 14 hours, was it? We’ve all been there, sometimes it feels safer to be in A&E just in case. But blaming the ‘African’ medics for your long wait is bullshit, and we both know it.

Wow- way to show you don't know what's going on. Plenty of people die now because of the horrendous delays in A&E. I have a family member who waited 6 hours when it was a suspected stroke. Fortunately not actually a stroke.

I think you’ve answered a question you weren’t asked.

There’s a lot of evidence that shows the UK is attractive for lots of reasons, and that the opportunity to work illegally is more attractive than benefits (which are less generous than in other European countries, where actually more people settle).

it genuinely disturbs me that you work with refugees, I can only imagine it’s in a detention centre.

Going well with this. On to flippant mockery already. It’s only been a morning.

What can I say. I’ve tired of racists.

This story will be used by people with an agenda to ‘prove’ that we shouldn’t let in illegal immigrants (obviously, the clue’s in illegal), asylum seekers or legal immigrants depending on the status of the culprit. Sometimes a story (like the Southport stabbing) can be handily used by them to show it not just “them coming over here”, it’s also their children, and so on and so on. It’s Somalis until the reporting changes, then it’s the Sudanese. All set against a background of made up stories and smelly foreigners.

Very little if any of this is about trying to find workable, humane ways to manage migration.

Don’t you have entirely fictitious conspiracy theory about Kier Starmer to dust off?

Ginnyweasleyswand · Yesterday 13:54

MLMsuperfan · Yesterday 13:52

Fun fact, when adjusted for age and sex, immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than UK citizens. https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/migrant-convictions-and-prison-population/

It depends where they're from. Men from countries like Afghanistan and other countries with medieval attitudes to women have far higher risk of offending.

Pretending everyone and every culture is the same doesn't help anyone.

I guess because they want to just report the facts as they are known so far, whilst Elon Musk wants to whip up unrest? Open your eyes, OP.

Elon Musk wanting to whip up unrest? Oh come off it!

An attempted beheading occurred on the streets of Belfast last night by a non UK national. There are the facts. It’s disgraceful and our government has a lot to answer for. Any ‘unrest’ is deserved at this point - people are tired and angry of this rubbish polluting our country and draining taxpayer funds. The offender is now being treated in a hospital local to me - A&E waiting times there are frequently over 30 hours for decent citizens. Why should this barbarian be entitled to care?

Skilled migration is great. Without migrant nurses, surgeons etc the hospital I work at couldn’t function. I highly doubt that this man was either of those things and it has to stop.

It was never a litmus test of popular opinion. Pre-Musk it had very heavy left-wing moderation. When that moderation went so did many left-wingers who didn’t like hearing alternative opinions. Many went to Blue Sky where they could create block lists that blocked Blue Sky’s moderators….

Paramilitary-style shootings on the rise in Northern Ireland

Sure mocking the victim will help. Maybe politicians should think about how to stop crimes like this one instead of empty platitudes.

Agree. ‘Immigrants’ also mean half a million people here from Hong Kong, to which I’ve never seen a single objection - because they’re generally outstanding citizens with comparable values.

They’re not one homogenous blob, where the law abiding nature of many of them can cover up for the rest.

It’s not mocking the victim, so cut the faux offence.
