Which cheap and nasty food item do you choose over more expensive and better quality alternatives?

For me it’s chicken kievs. I love the crispy outside and the mushy chicken inside. I know they’re not the best, I actually work in a chicken factory so I know exactly what goes into it! But it still doesn’t put me off 🤣 Clearly my standards are on the floor…

Cheap baked beans

Hotdogs, can take or leave 'proper' sausages but give me a cheap Tinned hotdog any day!

I love corned beef too!

The cheap range at Sainsbury’s called something like Stamford has really acceptable packs of corned beef much cheaper for a much bigger pack too and it’s perfectly nice too

Love corned beef and onion sand. Corned beef must go in the fridge for a couple of hours first

Cheap fruit teacakes & hot-cross buns for toasting - I like it when they do all dense and doughy soaked in butter.

Some of the fancy flavoured hot-cross buns at Easter are an abomination.

I'm also partial to a tin of beans with mini sausages. I don't want to know what is in the little sausages, just let me enjoy them. Meaty sausages aren't the same with beans.

Bring back Toast Toppers!

And those doughnuts made with artificial cream (was it?) and strawberry 'jam' which were often reduced at the end of the day in local bakeries

I eat corned beef mashed up with mayo on toast or made into stovies.

Nah ,Nah right stovies is made with stewing steak,onion ,tatties bit o Baxter's crinkle cut beetroot on the side wi a couple o thick oatcakes.

Birds trifle. Big bowl, one spoon.

Spreadable butter. Vie chemical shite, but so much easier than butter!

Tesco replaced their ordinary Greek yoghurt with their finest Greek yoghurt on my delivery and I much prefer the cheap one.

My breakfast is usually oats, yoghurt and walnuts. I never make it in advance so it was just too dry with the extra thick posh Greek yoghurt.

To be fair, spreadable butter usually just has some oil in it, so not really that chemically.

Instant Chicken Noodle Soup v a naice fresh soup with actual chicken and noodles.
Tinned Marrowfat Peas v a posh tinned baby pea or even frozen or a fresh pea.

Oh god. We once left a daft friend in charge of the food when we went to a festival ages ago. She bought several jumbo bags of Skips, bread rolls, cucumbers and a hundredweight of Shippams chicken paste.
We all grumbled at the idea of living on this brown ensemble for three days but the chook paste and cucumber baps were absolutely gorgeous! We couldn’t get enough!
My favourite thing on a poorly day is a tin of Heinz Tomato Soup and a Shippams Chook Paste bap.

It's not really cheap or nasty but the Tartex vegan pate is lush, probably nutritionally void though. Lived on sandwiches made from it when I was recovering from flu a few years ago.

Id imagine it's pretty decent nutritionally it's made of
Water, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, potato starch, leek, herbs, sunflower oil, sea salt, tomato paste, yeast extract

Idaho instant mash is my guilty pleasure. I eat it in secret which makes it even more fun.

I’m easy, cheap white bread. Ideal for toast. Guilty and rare treat though. Pink wafer biscuits.

It’s God tier cheap instant mash. If you want instant mash this is the Gordon Ramsey of instant mash. It is however instant mash.

Oh I like Idaho mash when I have it. Delicious but I feel so lazy making it.
