What's the weirdest thing your pet is scared of?

My friend's dog is terrified of cardboard boxes but completely ignores thunderstorms 😅

Pets can be so strange sometimes.

What's the weirdest thing your dog or cat is scared of?

Vacuum cleaners? Bananas? Plastic bags? Random household objects?

I'd love to hear some funny stories.

Flies, the sound of flies, my hands flapping to get rid of said flies. Laughing or crying

My cat is scared of the mop but not the vacuum cleaner

My dog was afraid of coat hangers and umbrellas

Not unusual but thunder and lightning. Cat hid under the sofa today whilst a big storm was going on. She’s too big really to fit under there but she manages it.

My cats are terrified of the sound of silver foil being torn.

The sound of sellotape. He’s a wimp and is scared of a lot of sounds- the wind, the electric hob turning on and the sound YouTube makes when I turn the app on our TV.

My parent’s dog was scared of a pink ‘kiss me quick’ cowboy hat from Blackpool and flowers.

Wind, or even a strong breeze. Part of our walk back from her one day a week doggy daycare, involves walking round a corner which always seems be head on into the wind. The dog just stops rooted to the spot and will not budge, ducks her head down as if terrified and l really have to bribe her.
Her other one is having her harness put on and flinches with the click of it fastening. We know we have never accidentally pinched her in the fastening or anything like that and she loves going for a walk or in the car so it's not a bad association.

My little semi feral kitten is as tough as old boots, doesn’t bat an eyelid at the bin lorry, loud cars and motorbikes, thunder, fireworks, random things in the house beeping, pretty much nothing fazes her. So I was quite surprised the other day when she appeared to be absolutely petrified of the beginning of Ultravox’s Vienna and ran away to hide under my bed.

We've just discovered that ds's dog is scared of the word 'murder' but only in my dodgy Scottish accent

We are watching a crime programme and I repeated the word after a Scottish lady said it on the tv

He bolted while shooting me dirty looks

I know a horse that doesn't bat an eyelid at farm machinery (including when moving), livestock and various small grandchildren. However, the same horse will leap over, or completely sidestep, puddles... and another horse who panics when he can't see his mum. He's middle-aged 😂She seems to like the peace and quiet!

One of my dogs has no fear of water, unless it is clean water.

The other is scared of brass bands. To be fair, she'd never seen/heard one before, as we live very rurally, and were visiting family elsewhere in a busier place near Christmastime.
