What's the weirdest thing your pet is scared of?

My friend's dog is terrified of cardboard boxes but completely ignores thunderstorms 😅

Pets can be so strange sometimes.

What's the weirdest thing your dog or cat is scared of?

Vacuum cleaners? Bananas? Plastic bags? Random household objects?

I'd love to hear some funny stories.

My Labrador is terrified of the iron !! Will sit through a thunder storm though. Also hates Henry hoover ( who doesn't with his smug face) but LOVES the petrol lawnmower!

The hoover. And the neighbours hoover when he can hear it. I bought a robot one, had to give it to my mum. 🧓

Ceiling fans.

Me coughing, sneezing or clearing my throat. Only me for some reason

Goats. All the usual horse stuff like tarps, balloons, hosepipe etc he is fine with. But goats are terrifying. Especially if they're cute and fluffy.

(Years ago) large male dog terrified of sneezing.
2 dogs frightened of wooden footbridges - would only slide along on their bellies.

Took my horse to a show venue and the lorry was parked over the bridge of the M1. It was horrifying, clearly, he’d come from a rural area of Ireland and this was probably the first time he’d seen serious traffic below him. Wasn’t pretty!

My dogs are very worried about anything frying or the airfryer being on. They go outside. One spooked at the pond on viewing the house. He’s still very wary of it.

Temporary traffic lights (permanent ones are fine).
Plastic bags in bushes.
Photos of people on the side of vans.

I walk a collie who is terrified of ladders - he won't even walk past, you either have to go another direction or carry him 😂

I once had a dog who hated the Mastermind theme tune.
He’d be fast asleep then as soon as the drums began, he’d be up and howling at the telly.

He also barked at satsumas. He was a bit of a dick but I adored that dog.

Our dog was terrified of watermelons - whole ones.

My dog is scared of the kitchen. The cats do not have that problem.

One of our cats is terrified of a Swiffer however is not frightened of a wet mop 🤷‍♀️

I dont even know how I know this because I have only had him a year but my Macaw hates the old C4 Big Breakfast theme tune. He is ok with TFI Friday.

Anyone who’s ever had a Greyhound probably knows that a mere dry leaf blowing, scratchily, down the road past them is enough to elicit a full on conniption.

I had a dog many years ago and she was terrified of the Brookside opening theme tune! I had to turn the volume off at the start.

She was also scared of the bell that would sound when someone opened the shop door in Coronation Street.

She's no longer with us and I haven't watched any soaps for years now.

My dog is scared of bins and its really hard to get close enough to put a bag in the bin as I go past it when I come out of my front door. Same problem with getting a poop bag in the bin! He is terrified of the noise of the emergency alarm sent to mobile phones, and while he rarely hears it now, it was going several times a day in March/April where we live. I'll concede that one, though.

My last cat was scared of the doorbell and would always hide behind the sofa until the stranger danger was over. Probably a fairly common thing with cats but he even reacted to it when he was outside. I used to ring it to get him back in the house at night as he could hear it from several gardens away 😆.

Mine was scared of a big gravy bone I bought him

Petunias. She stalks them until she is close enough to sniff them and discover they are not dangerous.

We bought a kong kickeroo for my cat as it always comes up in lists of the most popular cat toys. Cat is terrified of it.

The blue plastic crates that the groceries are delivered in.
