What's the weirdest thing your pet is scared of?

My friend's dog is terrified of cardboard boxes but completely ignores thunderstorms 😅

Pets can be so strange sometimes.

What's the weirdest thing your dog or cat is scared of?

Vacuum cleaners? Bananas? Plastic bags? Random household objects?

I'd love to hear some funny stories.

My old dog was terrified of the theme tune to Casualty

@DoAWheelie my cat is also terrified of fizzy bottles/cans being opened. When he's being bad and beating up his sister I just need to show him a bottle and he's offksi!

The wind. And accompanying noise and fluttering leaves etc.
traffic cones are fine standing up but on their side clearly very dangerous and scary

My cat, the saucepan drawer when I'm getting out saucepans. He just bolts.

Neighbours he has known for nearly 7 years, he doesn't hide from them as much now but he won't go up to them.

The doorbell, but he's got to know the back doorbell means it's one of 3 neighbours that he knows, see above.

Tradesmen. We have to carry him on a tour around the house just to prove they are not hiding and have indeed gone home.

He chases foxes or keeps and eye on them when they come into the garden though.

Flies/spiders! If he sees any in the house he takes off and won’t come back in until you make a big scene showing him that you have removed it!

My cat likes to chew and lick plastic bags/bin liners, the bit that overhangs the top of the bin. But if you take the bin bag out, or get a fresh bag out to put into the bin, he doesn’t like it at all and runs off.

My dear departed Goldie was scared of tapemeasures. I put it down to when we measured her neck for her first collar.

Leaf blower

Sneezing but not when one of us Sneeze in bed bed and she's on it. So random. The minute anyone even starts to sneeze she off up the stairs.

Oooh my dog is like this too. He objects to certain types of flooring- wood or wood effect usually. He also doesn’t like wooden bridges or decking and sometimes has to be carried across such surfaces 🙄 He’s 18kg, which I know is not large, but large enough to look ungainly and a bit embarrassing having to be carried in public 😂

The house inspection after they leave sounds like part of his daily security routine

I actually looked this up recently because I kept seeing similar stories. Apparently it's more common than I thought

16 year old girl is terrified of outdoors and never goes out unless I am right by her side.
4 year old is girl is afraid of nothing.

My 30kg beast is terrified of kittens. Also frightened of the microwave when it beeps, but loves the beep from the airfryer.

My old dog was bombproof, nothing phased him except snowmen! He was terrified of them and wouldn’t go anywhere near!

Himself 😂 at least once a week he walks past the hallway mirror and gives himself a fright. Rescue greyhound and he is enormous but daft as a brush.

Our cockatiel is terrified of ladders - human size, not bird size! He won't go past one when we're decorating, not even by sitting on our shoulders.

Milk cartons. When there is one out of the fridge she won’t come into the kitchen.

My lovely old cat who I lost last year, was terrified of rubbish trucks 🤷🏻‍♀️

I discovered that my dog is terrified of fisherman’s trollies after doing a canal side walk with him recently. He was really scared of them and I have no idea why. The only time I’ve ever seen him like it was with our old cat who used to wait around corners to ambush him, he was so scared of her that he wouldn’t walk past her.

Border collie: scared of sheep.

2 year old dog is scared of one particular photo of my youngest child. He loves DS so ive no idea why.
Ive had to move the photo upstairs.
