Poor Nigel Farage

...has not been selected to regale us with his plans for life on a desert island.

So to soften the blow, I wonder what tunes (and essential items) the good denizens of MN would imagine he would enjoy ...

It's hard to think that this dirge wouldn't be there ...

Because the woke lot who work there are scaredy pants !

'Scaredy pants' Farage is in hiding regarding that £5 million donation.

Perhaps he's in the desert.

Probably opera. Then you lot would be stumped.
its amazing that I spend half my life telling teenagers to be kind and to be accepting of everyone. Maybe their parents should do the same?

I've seen Madame Butterfly at the Albert Hall, with a box seat view. Also The Magic Flute at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Genesis - Selling England by the pound

Bit late with that one im afraid 😨

RubyPowderPuff · 01/06/2026 12:36

Gloria Gaynor : I will survive. His essential item is a cuddle blanket. So when he plays this song he's got some comfort as nobody around to cheer him up. 😉

There’s also The Clash double A side:

‘Should I stay or should I go’ / ‘Straight to Hell’.

I do hope you police other threads in order lecture posters who write vile things about other politicians.

Not sure what the opera comment is about, but I suspect it is not coming from a "kind" or "accepting" place...

I think it was to demonstrate her superior taste.

Cyclebabble · 01/06/2026 12:58

A modern champion of diversity such as Nigel would surely be choosing an assortment of world music, roots, reggae and ska. Surely you have seen the pictures of him when younger in his crombie with braces, DMs and a pork pie hat?

I think the BBC missed a trick there. Could we send him to an actual desert island please? Permanently? I would give a small donation towards his passage.

I've seen Madame Butterfly at the Albert Hall, with a box seat view. Also The Magic Flute at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

I saw Evanescence at the Royal Festival Hall with a full orchestra? Does that count? 😁 (Amy Lee said Mozart is one of her inspirations.) Classical music and heavy metal are often combined (see symphonic metal.)

In that vein, Disturbed - Land of Confusion.

(I know it's a cover version, but it's a great one.)

SapphireSeptember · 01/06/2026 13:16

Oh, and there's someone on YouTube who does 'Opera for dummies' and he's very funny!

So to be kind and to be accepting of everyone includes pandering to someone who have exhibited anti-Semitic and racist behaviour, marched with the NF, and has mysogenistic policies for governing this country?
No thanks, and please keep your ‘let the bigots be’ views away from my kids, who I’ve taught to stand up for others.

Miss long dark. I don’t support Farage. What I do support is being kind. And hopefully your children will make up their own views in life. That is to be good people, not just follow you.
And if you had respect you would know that school staff do not try to impose political views on any student.

MaybeNotBob · 01/06/2026 15:20

Oh, there's plenty of racism in opera. It's be right down his street!
