Have you ever hated something that seems very popular with everyone else ?

Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .

The idea of having my make up done professionally (have to have this done for a wedding I am in soon and I am dreading it, never had it done before I just have a feeling I’m going to hate it. Not a treat for me at all just a person I don’t know faffing about with my face)

I went to see Waitress last weekend and felt the same way. I wondered if everyone else who was laughing uproariously was seeing the same show as I was. I loved the movie but the show was really meh. Carrie Hope Fletcher gave a phenomenal performance though, so that made up for it.

It was the same when I saw Rent back in the 90s. I just didn’t get the hype. Never did find out how they were going to pay next month’s Rent.

Ellen’s Stardust Diner in NY. Queues out the door, we sat for about 15 minutes but it was dark and loud and cramped and the menu was terrible.

Blackpool. I love a seaside town but just couldn’t love Blackpool.

With you on the autism and musicals 🤣. I just can’t wrap my head around people going about their day then someone bursts into song and everyone magically knows all the words and the dance routine 🤣.

Everybody raved about The Book of Mormon but I didn't really like it.

I was afraid someone would say Hamilton. I’m obsessed with it and can’t understand why someone would hate it!

But yes, Mamma Mia the musical wouldn’t appeal, I hate the movie.

I knew it was going to be Titanique. Also there is nothing like going to see something everyone else is loving and laughing at that you don't like, to make it seem even worse.

I saw it and agree with you @BernieBarksi couldn’t believe how bad it was.

That's a shame you didn't enjoy the show. It's always disappointing when you've looked forward to something.

I seem to like most things (although your description of the show does sound like it's 💩).

My dislike is fancy coffees. Everyone else seems to love the syrups, the frappes, the salted caramel lattes etc. I'll have a bog standard cappuccino thanks or even better a nice cup of tea.

Having your nails done. I did it once to see why everyone did it, hated the enforced small talk at close quarters, hated having my hands being touched, paid what felt like a lot to then go home and chip it straight away when washing up. Never again. But it’s so popular and so many people do it!

Abba, I was really disappointed when they won the Eurovision song contest and hoped they would sink into obscurity afterwards. No such luck!
