Is anyone else put off going to the beach because of all the videos circulating online of people kicking off there? I don’t know if im just being silly, kids are desperate to visit the beach today.

I haven’t seen any of this. It certainly isn’t happening where we live. But no bloody way do I go anywhere near a beach (a) in hot weather or (b) in the school holidays. We’ve been going to shady river spots to swim and barely seen another soul.

I haven't seen any videos, but which beach? I doubt everyone is kicking off at every beach!

Well we can only travel to our local ones and yes it’s happened in southend, Bournemouth, Brighton and broadstairs

It’s not happening where I live. Im avoiding it though as I find there is nothing more miserable than a British beach in a heatwave.

I honestly never understand posts like these. Why would anyone kick off at you on a beach? There are loads of fake videos and stuff online now. You are being paranoid and spoiling your own enjoyment of life. Get your bucket and spade out and enjoy the day

Went to Southend-on-Sea a few days ago. No one was kicking off 🤷‍♀️

I live in one of those areas and haven’t been to the beach, I’ll wait until schools goes back.
My teenager is there today with mates and I’ve drummed it into him to leave if anything kicks off again.

No. I live life through experience and not through the news.

I live in Bournemouth and it isn’t fake news, it is always disgustingly busy and increasingly violent down by the pier. But the beach is 7 miles long do there are loads of perfectly lovely spots to go to.

I live by the beach, its busy but no one kicking off as far as l have seem, usual drunk teenagers but they dont emgerge until the earky evening.

Trouble is we will be travelling by train so it means ending up on the train with them, last year a massive group of teens got on our train and was behaving horribly, sat right behind us throwing and smashing bottles, we moved carriages but it was packed so there wasn’t really anywhere else to go, I was so tempted to get off but the trains aren’t that regular

I live in Brighton and Hove the area in question is straight down from Brighton Station and full of teens and day-tripper's , go 15 mins walk along the beach past the West Pier and it is much quieter and still within range of cafes etc. I spend my beach days up towards Hove Lagoon which is very family friendly.

The thing to remember with those types of news stories is that they want them to be sensational. That means the photographer will have got the widest angle he could, with as many people in it as he could, being as badly behaved as possible.

Look at the pictures again from that perspective. The pictured “teenage mob” is about the size of 2 school classes, taking up an area about 20m square, and they are standing around looking bored or chatting to their friends.

Yes, there might be some loud and boisterous kids, but beaches are quite big. You will be able to move away from them.

It’s rude to call people weird! I love 5 mins walk from the beach on the south coast, no “kicking” off and seen nothing on SM, doesn’t make me weird.

Then you can say “it isn’t happening here” rather than accuse me of making things up. Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Rudeness happens both ways and you were rude first so expect it back.

Well then don’t go! For goodness sake you’re not happy getting there, getting home or being there. If anyone tries to ease your fears you come back with a reason why you shouldn’t go. Tell your children no!
