Is anyone else put off going to the beach because of all the videos circulating online of people kicking off there? I don’t know if im just being silly, kids are desperate to visit the beach today.

I went down to Boscombe after work on Tuesday, and had no idea things were kicking off in Bournemouth, which is a walk along the sea front.

You've got the whole way from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks to choose from - you don't have to be right by Bournemouth pier.

Also, it's not a new thing, is it? It's part of the background to Brighton Rock, which was published 1938.

As said they could be on the train to/from

What? A few incidents (I don’t even know what you are referring to) against the gazillions flocking there this week? Just go.

Trouble is we will be travelling by train so it means ending up on the train with them, last year a massive group of teens got on our train and was behaving horribly, sat right behind us throwing and smashing bottles, we moved carriages but it was packed so there wasn’t really anywhere else to go, I was so tempted to get off but the trains aren’t that regular

Text British Transport Police - that’s what they’re there for.

aAaAaAaAhh · 28/05/2026 20:39

Yeah but wouldnt exactly be a pleasant journey

OP you're just making excuses not to go. I live in London - literally anything could happen anywhere at any time. I'd never leave my house at that rate. Take your poor kids to the beach! 🏖️ Millions of people do with zero issues.

aAaAaAaAhh · 28/05/2026 20:46

“Poor kids” get a grip, weve been all over this holidays no kids suffered by not being taken to the beach

OP posts:
aAaAaAaAhh · 28/05/2026 20:48

another poster said they never go to the beach in the half term do you feel “poor kids” there as well? Was only asking so I can work out whether to save the trip till the summer holidays when things have probably calmed down a bit. As we don’t usually go till the 6 weeks holiday anyway poor kids 🙄

Ok... then why start a thread about it if you're convinced everyone is lying about not getting attacked on the beaches you mentioned?

aAaAaAaAhh · 28/05/2026 20:51

I didn’t ask if anyone’s not been attacked or been attacked I asked if anyone was avoiding due to the videos online which are indeed real, lucky you for missing them doesnt mean everyone was so lucky

We are thinking of heading off to the Kent coast over the summer. Is there any way particular social media channel that I can follow to get warning of any of these meet ups. We do not want to be sharing a beach with any of those bellends.

I was at southend earlier in the week - no issues with teens. Very busy with families Train was quiet but not sure if London crowd come on c2c rather than into Southend victoria. There was a visible police presence which is typical for southend when busy. Teen groups wouldnt bother me too much as they usually only fight each other (sorry if that sounds complacent). Only drama I saw was fire and rescue responding I presume to people in trouble in the water.

aintnothinbutagstring · 28/05/2026 22:37

Depending on where you're travelling from... if you're going Essex way - Clacton/Frinton/Walton on the Naze might be quieter options than Southend.

I was at viking Bay yesterday, travelled by train and had a lovely day! There were police at the train station (I hadn't heard of the disturbances before and I was slightly surprised to see them!) checking in on groups of teenagers. No issues at all on the beach, in the town or on the trains. Viking Bay is one of the few beaches that currently have lifeguards during the week as it's still early in the season (more beaches will have them at the weekends) so please check the lifeguard situation before deciding on a beach.

rainbowstardrops · 29/05/2026 09:52

Where about do you live @aAaAaAaAhh ?
If you’re looking to head to Brighton then maybe go along the coast a bit more towards Eastbourne or Pevensey Bay way? I wouldn’t want to sit on a Brighton beach in a heatwave because the news always shows it absolutely rammed and that’s not for me!

BitOutOfPractice · 29/05/2026 09:58

I was at Frinton on bank holiday Monday and it was absolutely fine. I imagine Clayton was livelier though.
