I like the ittle birthday cakes, 4 in a blue box, 99p or £1 in Iceland, Home Bargains or B&M.

In Waitrose I saw them at £2.50!! But last week I got a box in there for £1.25.

Cherry bakewell my next favourite.

I've just had a slice of Battenberg
because it was reduced.
Two things - it has really shrunk!
And...
I can't taste any marzipan. It's just sweet.
Now this could purely be because hay-fever has wrecked my taste buds, or because they've "improved" the recipe in the intervening years 🙄

I love a cherry Bakewell

Country Slices were my favourite, but I haven't bought the 'disgusting sugary shite' since quitting UPF.

Up until very recently, I'd have said Angel Slices, but a friend brought some Cherry Bakewells to share. Unfortunately, said friend's homemade lemon drizzle beats Mr Kipling's version into a hollow!

Lemon icey slicey things. Unwrap in a 2 pack. That's just cheating.

I managed to pick up a yellow-stickered pack of six Country Slices for 80p this morning - plus a box of four Strawberries & Cream Tarts for only 56p!

There's no hurry for us to eat them all, either - there are so many artificial ingredients in them that they'll stay fresh for weeks yet.

I can only dream of finding a yellow-stickered Manor House cake - they're £3.75 in Sainsbury's!

Used to be French Fancies but they have got too sweet for me. I used to eat them in the order of least liked to most liked so brown, pink, yellow.

Picked up a pack of banana flavoured slices and they were quite nice if a tad dry.

At Christmas one year, Mr Kipling made Irish Cream fondant fancies, but to my great sorrow, I never found them in shops near us. The struggle is real.

Found them in Tesco and a larger co-op.

I miss the Apple and Custard pies - with the custard inside the pie. They were amazing. Where have they gone??!

There is no bad cake. But if Mr Kiplings get any smaller they are going to be physically impossible to find in the box.

Which is my excuse for eating two French Fancies at a time.

You should try Morrisons supersized cherry Bakewells

Not sure if they were mr Kipling but I remember some cakes from the 80s/90s sponge cake covered in marzipan and chocolate on each end? Came in packs of 5 i think but then they disappeared 😭

I do not need to be thinking about delicious cherry bakewells and wine right now just because I've had a shit day and it's hot outside.
