They're disgusting sugary shite aren't they?

So, which one is your favourite? 😅

Have you seen the new flavours?

Caremelised Biscuit.
Custard Cream
Cookies and Cream

Lemon and Raspberry. Each flavour comes in a pack of four

Ooh sounds interesting.

But if any Mumsnetter wants the naice version you can get them from Betty's for something ridiculous like £3 each.

DeedlessIndeed · 18/05/2026 20:56

I love the country slices. So underrated and marginally less sickly than the rest.

Chapbook · 18/05/2026 20:57

InterestingDuck · 18/05/2026 19:38

But which French fancy? My order - yellow, pink, brown.

Yes, mine too. My NCT classes were fuelled entirely by them. I’m not sure I’ve eaten any since, and DS is now 14, but they will forever in my mind be deliciously sickly and synthetic, and associated with avoiding the ‘cascade of intervention’. (I didn’t.)

Angel and lemon slices.

InterestingDuck · 18/05/2026 21:01

Interesting @Chapbook and @UnPetitDunPetit - we've had yellow and pink, does no one love the brown ones best?

helpfulperson · 18/05/2026 21:04

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/05/2026 19:38

French Fancies or Battenburg cake.

Snap - my favourites.

AreBearsCatholic · 18/05/2026 21:06

Treacle tart

RightOnTheEdge · 18/05/2026 21:08

French Fancies but only the yellow or pink ones, I hate the brown ones.
I really love the white Christmas ones, Frosty Fancies? And the orange ones at Halloween.

Secretseverywhere · 18/05/2026 21:08

French fancies, I know they are about 90% sugar. I bought a couple of packs of lemon ones as reduced after Easter and tyey were lovely but a bit sickening at the same time. It’s not something I’d buy at full price I tend to just get special edition cheapies.

Ottersideofthebridge · 18/05/2026 21:09

Mini Battenburg, so sweet that they make your teeth itch. Craving them now. They don't contain any almonds though, which blows my mind a bit.

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 18/05/2026 21:13

I read 'Ultra Processed People' and he talks about how there are scientists whose job it is to work out the exact ratios of fat/salt/sugar/additives to make these products as addictive as can be. That pissed me right off. So the only shop bought baked goods I buy now are shortbread. Boring, but I feel better for not lining the bad guys' pockets! And I've lost a stone!

RedPanda2022 · 18/05/2026 21:21

My family love all the Kipling range
Most popular here are apple pies and French fancies
personally I like the country slices

LittleGreenDragons · 18/05/2026 21:27

Absolutely! I'll fight people for the yellow ones 😂

I also really like the lemon slices and I used to like their cherry bakewells until I found out my Co-op does extra large, very yummy, hideously calorific ones *drools

SirChenjins · 18/05/2026 21:40

French fancies - lemon, choc, pink, in that order
Viennese whirls
Those fruit sponge slice things
Cherry bakewells

I haven't had them for years but they're going on my shopping list now.

Topbird29 · 18/05/2026 21:50

Dont buy often, but we do like French fancies - especially the orange ones around Halloween and the white ones near Christmas.
Also like a bit of battenburg.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/05/2026 21:56

I used to think.that they were 'Exceedingly Good' but now I think they are 'Just So...'

tsmainsqueeze · 18/05/2026 22:00

Copiousamountsofpulses · 18/05/2026 19:24

French fancy. Haven't bought for years though as the box would be gone in 2 nights!!

Agree , i actually think these have improved over the years but bloody hell are they expensive.

Undergroundovergroundwomblingfree · 18/05/2026 22:00

Trifle Bakewells
French Fancies (pink, yellow, brown)
Angel Slices

GuelderRoses · 18/05/2026 22:25

Luddite26 · 18/05/2026 19:35

They're just not what they were. It used to be my dream to drive behind a Mr. Kiplings van and the back doors fall open and us fill the boot! It used to be Christmas cake slices, french fancies, manor house cake, angel slices .
Exceedingly good but not now and the price pfffft.

Manor house cake? Blimey I'd forgotten all about that, I don't think I've seen it in the shops for ages.

youngestisapsycho · 18/05/2026 23:21

The Viennese whirls aren’t like they used to be.
Does anyone rember the huge ones M&S used to do in a pack of 4… they were amazing. I miss them 💔

Chapbook · 18/05/2026 23:25

InterestingDuck · 18/05/2026 21:01

I’ll be honest, I would eat them in any order. But yes, will start with yellow, given the choice…

Italiangreyhound · 18/05/2026 23:26

Almond slices

ChaToilLeam · 18/05/2026 23:26

I used to love the apple pies but fuck me they are sweet! 🍏
