So basically next month I’m going on holiday.
Its a 10 hour flight and just as luck would of had my period is due that day.
i have endometriosis so my periods are crazy heavy.
Anyway just in conversation to my good friend I told her I would have to get up a few times to the bathroom to freshen up etc so will need to take my handbag to the toilet on the plane -carrying spare underwear etc
She said people will think I’m a loon getting up with my handbag
The thing is what else am I meant to do ? Walk down the aisle with a pair of knickers and a always pad?
Im self conscious at the best of times
Would you even bat an eyelid ?
I mean surely people might even do skincare on a 10 hour flight ?

Your friend is nuts.

Your friend is weird. I would take the tablet so you can have maximum enjoyment

Agree with everyone else - your friend is a weirdo! I cant imagine anyone first even noticing what someone else was carrying with them and secondly caring the slightest bit. Therr are loads of reasons why someone might be carrying a bag. When I was solo travelling I took my giant rucksack to the loo whenever I was on trains and stuff, just in case they got nicked!

Thankyou everyone !
im going to take a wash bag and keep some bits in there that i need
im unsure about the period delay tablets, only because I get pretty bad pms
will I get those symptoms constantly until I stop taking the tablet ?
im going on holiday for 10 days and I have 3 heavy days then a light day and its over
So im torn between taking the tablet or just getting the 4 days done
I’ve ordered some next period swim shorts
I have never tried them before but im hopeful !

I’d think carefully about asking for norethisterone as it tends to make the period after the delay heavier and more painful, which is the last thing you need with endo. If you can get through the few days to get it over that might be your best bet. Good luck!

Your friend is bizarre. No one would think anything of you taking a sponge bag into a flight. No one’s watching us for evidence of us gasp having a period.

Go, be comfortable. Don’t let weird comments like this phase you.

Nobody will notice or care. Your friend sounds a bit odd!!

I haven’t had many side effects from norethisterone, maybe some nausea/bloating. Everyone is different though so difficult to say.
What I did the first time I used it was delay the period before I went on holiday so that it finished the week before I went and I wasn’t due on again until I was back home

i wouldn’t leave my handbag unattended on a plane-it would come with me in
case someone went rummaging through it.

ScotiaLass · Yesterday 18:29

No one will notice that you are taking a handbag to the toilet - it's a totally normal thing to do. Have you been prescribed tranexamic acid? It's really helped with my very heavy periods (I also have endo) and I wouldn't fly on my period without taking it.

WelshCakeLover · Yesterday 18:37

really feel for you 😔 as someone that suffers also ots horrible. noone will blink an eye if you had your hand bag. just a quick one, do you use period pants? they are a life saver for me when im out as certain ones are great for reallt heavy periods and are so much more comfortable than pads. xxx
