A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

30 Gunshots heard outside the White House..

SionnachRuadh · 24/05/2026 01:02

Small sample, but it looks very tight.

I won't venture a prediction, but I'd rather be a close second right now. I'm not sure how well Burnham will stand up to challenge. And there seem to be some issues with the Great Yarmouth First campaign.

The Bookies are going to have to change their odds, which have been putting Burnham at about 70% likely to win !

Bookies odds are based on bets, not polls.

SionnachRuadh · 24/05/2026 12:36

I especially wouldn't lean on bookies' odds because there have been a lot of bets placed on the Great Yarmouth First candidate, I assume to lower her odds and make her seem like more of a contender than she is.

Her campaign is being run by former Tory MP Scott Benton, who knows a thing or two about the betting market. It's worth looking him up if you've forgotten who he was.

Been following someone that took a stand at Farmfest. They have quit early as have others. People just aren't spending.

Punters are paying the ticket price, walking around and enjoying the activities. But aren't buying at the stands..

We're either skint or have decided on the budget.

redange · 24/05/2026 14:17

Lupa That is always said when England are placed second or third favourite's to win the World Cup or Euro's. Though in fairness England have been in the running in recent Euro's and World Cups ! We will after wait this year though Extra game and 'Conditions' could count against our squad because of the toughness of the Premiership Season over other ones..

How do you know that, Parsley? Their identities haven't been revealed because they are under age.

Not sure why Jones showing emotion is a bad thing, tbh.

I appreciate that you’re, apparently, trying just to question. And I don’t especially like allegations laid at the door of groups and minorities. But if you google you’ll find the facts as having been widely reported, perfectly lawfully, since the offenders’ (protected) identities and the fact of the community they come from do not depend on each other.

There’s something a little unpleasant about your question. As if Parsely’s statement has no basis and is an invention.

I couldn’t care less about Darren Jones crying. He’s no better for blubbing than if he’d stayed composed.

Parsley4321 · 24/05/2026 21:56

@KerryWeaversSpecs its been reported they are from the travelling community.

Darren Jones is playing to the masses he doesn’t give a shit - he and his incompetent two tier justice government have given us this result.

Southport Novak the other rapists that got off who raped the 12 year old the hundreds of grooming gang members I could go on

It wasn't meant to be a "little unpleasant". I did Google before asking Parsley, but could only find a reference on Reddit at the time. I just googled again and found a reference in the Spectator, though I can't read the whole article as it's paywalled.

Anyway, the sentences are being reviewed. Like a lot of mumsnetters I filled in the "lenient sentence" online form. Hopefully the rapists will get a harsher sentence on review.

Parsley4321 · 24/05/2026 22:41

@KerryWeaversSpecs I wont hold my breath about a review. It stinks and it’s all to do with the community they come from I have no idea why but it does.

This was interesting:

https://spectator.com/article/the-blob-is-already-getting-ready-to-take-down-reform/

Best bits:

“Civil servants’ largest trade union, PCS, has been debating a motion to ‘counter a hostile Reform government’ with ‘sustained industrial action’. If the motion is approved, the union’s ruling NEC would draw up a resistance strategy by the end of the year. In other words, they are considering going on strike if Farage wins the next election.
PCS said the quiet bit out loud. In so doing they have given Reform an ideal opportunity to claim the moral and legal high ground. Danny Kruger, in charge of Reform’s preparations for government, threw down the gauntlet with a steely response:
‘Any civil servant who seeks to undermine ministerial authority and the impartiality of the Civil Service through unlawful strike action will no longer have a job to return to…By publicly confirming the reason for future industrial action as opposition to a specific “hostile” government, the PCS have ensured their strikes cannot be considered a “trade dispute| and would be unprotected and unlawful.’
It follows Zia Yusuf’s warning that ‘Our legislation will mean they’ll lose their jobs and their employer pensions if they do this. And save the taxpayer huge sums in redundancy pay! Everyone wins!’ He’s not wrong.”

If Reform win, things could get very dramatic.

The Blob is already getting ready to take down Reform

On one level it’s not exactly surprising. The idea that large parts of the civil service would treat a Farage government with horror and seek to frustrate it is what many of Reform UK’s supporters have long suspected. But the sheer brazenness with whic...

Upstartled · 25/05/2026 12:15

Jesus, I mean, the whole boody lot of them are incompetent at being underhand. Whether it's Labour fielding pretend councillors and actually dim enough to say so in writing, or in chat rooms where MPs look forward to the timely demise of their constituents to do what they'd prefer and actually say so in writing, or the unions hatching a plan to undermine governments that don't yet exist and, make the point to say so, on record.

If any of these idiots had the ounce of cunning of your average teen girl they might be unstoppable.

I saw that.

I hope the unions get smashed if they try anything silly following a Reform government.

Meanwhile, not paying income tax on overtime
hours over 40 hours a week worked, and under £75k salary is a good policy. Labour steal ceap policies why don’t they steal this one?
