Unhinged baby names you considered for your children when pregnant…

What were they?
i have two girls, and I’m a fan in different names - but not made up names, IYKWIM.

when I was pregnant with my first I watched Moulin Rouge, and for quite a while I was convinced that Satine would be the perfect name, but my partner said no.
my second I was desperate for Vivienne, which in in itself is a gorgeous name, but combined with Satine seemed to follow a trend of ‘ladies of the night’ (pretty women) so my partner said no again.

whats the most out there names you considered for your children?

my top boys name was Moss. Not sure I’d have gone through with it.

I liked Caoimhe or Orla (my family is Irish) but DH couldn’t say either of them properly (not from the UK or Ireland) for DD1 - she said the other day thank god DH vetoed them

I really like Moss!

Not when I was pregnant, but as a teenager I really wanted to call a daughter Starr. I think I'd watched Lost Boys too much! Thankfully I was in my 30s when I got pregnant and had moved on since then 😁

Kit or Kitty - still regret not doing it. My husband said no :(

Isis for my DC1 (this was 20-odd years ago). He was a boy, so escaped that mistake.

Loveday for DC2, despite having no Cornish connections. DH put me straight on that one pretty sharpish. Although I also had to bring him back to his senses when he suggested Angelina (lovely name, but we are tall, well built folk - no DD of ours was ever going to be either a ballerina or a ‘Jolie’)

I really wanted Valentino or Romeo as ds was due feb 14th

Leif for a boy. DH said no. It would not have suited DS anyway.

Spitfire for a boy, after DH bought a bottle of beer on the channel ferry. Still not sure how serious he really was, but we did not use it.

I know an Esmerelda never heard it before. She hates it btw she goes by a nickname. I’m not saying what it is on here it’s outing.

Well Gwyneth Paltrow has an Apple so why not?

I am no longer in the market for name choosing - but given my time again, I would def lean towards a 'naughty' name for a boy!! I feel they can be fun, and occasionally quite 'the character'

Robert - Bobby - TOP name- a bit Enid Blyton, a bit ' loveable scoundrel'
Leonard - Lenny - fantastic
Bernard - Bernie - cheeky
Terence - Terry - a 'geezer'

Girl names- Always at a loss with but love a bit of an 'ine' name;

Edwina
Maxine

Emerald/Sapphire, too but as others point out - a little bit 'stripper' shame really

I think Chanticleer is French for rooster!

I wanted Gabriel for my ds2... DH didn't and he's Charlie.
I wanted Jesse for DS1 and I still think it would have suited him brilliantly... but given that he's now married to a Jess, it's probably just as well😆
I wanted Alexander James for my DD1 had she been a boy...and actually both she and I feel Alex would have suited her better than her actual name!
What makes me really chuffed though is I suggested Calliope for a girl when my DD2 was pregnant last year... and that IS her name :) (Callie for daily use) Mind you we do have to correct folks on how it's said (Call-eye-oh-pee) not Cally-ope!

I've gotta stop reading here whilst on the train, just earned myself a couple of looks by laughing out loud at this!

Also not me but my SIL wanted Ulay, (as in oil of). Luckily when the baby arrived so did her senses and DN has a lovely but more conventional name.

I like Moss. It's short for Maurice here in Ireland although more often it's Mossy and less common now than it used to be.

Nothing wrong with Moss but for me there will only ever be this one.

Percy. Percival. It’s a lovely name tho too many connotations, most recently of the pig variety.

its an absolutely gorgeous name but we lived in the middle of Glasgow and did not have a surname to support such a strong first name 😁

Alexis because of a band I liked 🙈 so glad I changed my mind.

For a middle name I wanted Lumiere

Not me but my Mum considered Valentine as a middle name for my brother as his due date was Valentine’s Day, my Dad vetoed!
(I actually quite like it though)

I liked Leopard.
Thankfully I was overruled

Seriously considered Yvaine for my daughter - after Clare Dane’s’ character in Stardust - but thought she would get called Yvonne or Evie.

My ex-husband wanted to name our daughter Concessa 😬
