If you voted Reform, I would love to know why?

I am not here to judge so would just like to hear from Reform voters for their reasoning.

@SleeplessInWherever sorry, I meant to write do people who want the right to remain in Spain have to pass a language test - my mistake.
I googled it and only those applying for Spanish citizenship have to pass a language exam.
Maybe the Spanish government should insist British immigrants take a test.

Yes, applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) (settlement) in the UK generally requires passing a B1 level English language test (speaking and listening) alongside the Life in the UK test. This test must be a Secure English Language Test (SELT) taken at an approved centre, typically costing around £150–£160.

Courtesy of… Google.

But if you do your own research at the University of Facebook, it says the opposite.

The “college of my mate Simon from the pub” probably says the opposite too!

So there is a real and present danger mentioned.
Is the crime numbers really dropping or are there less of them reported?
Because it has been a thing that shop lifting and similar crimes have not even noted by police called on site. Or there has been no prosecution. And people can get tired ot that pretty quickly. Plus the amount of distrust that spreads! Nothing will feel you more at danger if the two people arrested last week breaking into X shop are out there, free roaming.
I will try to find some examples to link. I remember watching a documentary.

You don’t just look at crime stats but hospital stats that show violent crime declining, the incidents of murder reported on death certificates, burglary and robbery insurance claims are declining as well as other tertiary statistics that point to a decline in the crime rate, although phone theft has increased (i give you that), but it is a relatively new opportunistic crime and it can only increase from 0.

Yeah they likely should.

But, we already do, and it doesn’t help improve some people’s attitudes to migration.

Edited

So, if they have looked into it with proper detail and it is falling, then I am very happy about it.

Well, I don't think it's a good thing certainly. It is just pointing out that it isn't just people coming here and not learning the language, it's people leaving here and not bothering too.

I agree that it’s not a good thing whether arriving here or moving abroad but I don’t think there is anything that can be done. It’s human nature to join up with people from a similar culture and who speak the same language, and once there are enough people then a self-contained community will be formed.
If immigrants from a non-EU country want the right to remain, do they have to pass a language test?

Yes, I agree it's human nature to like that natural linguistic and cultural connection with others of your old homeland etc when you move abroad. There are also enormous benefits to learning the language of the country you are in, not least to yourself and how much easier it makes life. It can be difficult initially to make friends of the nationality of the country you move to, especially if you don't already speak the language, so finding friendships with expats/immigrants of your own nationality is a lot easier. Plenty of countries make language lessons for recent immigrants very affordable, sometimes free, and have language requirements for visas, not just citizenship.

Can you show the stats and peer reviewed studies that show this ? Or is it doing your own research on the interweb?

What do the words "I imagine" usually suggest to you?

Can you give me your imagining of a reason why somebody would hide the fact that they have entered/stayed in the UK illegally and are here without being resisted for tax or health services instead of attacking my post?

Are you always this passive aggressive in discussions 🤣😂🤣 ?

I imagine people come over here to eat children because they are 6 foot lizard people in human skin. You can imagine all you want but come to quite racist conclusions with you vivid imagination.

climbintheback · 12/05/2026 17:10

Yes maybe they are child eating lizards who knows but there is certainly a disproportionate number pound for pound of murderers and rapists and wrong uns and according to statistics there are a ridiculous amount of them on the watch list and in our prisons!

It is not racist to imagine that someone would live and work in this country unregistered for tax or medical care because they know they have no right to be here and will be deported if they are registered and found.

I see you are unable to come up with any other explanation and can only resort to sarcasm.

What a total and barely readable wall of text!! You don't seem to have heard of paragraphs.

From what I did manage to read of it, it's mostly bullshit anyway. Probably typically Reform nonsense.

Would be more convincing to engage on the substance of the comments rather than the formatting.

DrasticAction · 12/05/2026 19:19

Two recent crime examples ; I live in the south east and called police out for vehicle theft and quite quickly they came.

In London a friend called 999 becusee he heard the most terrifying screech and scream and he said no one came
