Thinking of going...we like beaches, good food, good pub food, local sites to visit, people watching. Just for Hubby and I.

Llandudno has cropped up...sell it to me with recommendations for all above please ☺️

I love Llandudno but it is a little jaded in places these days and can get a little rough at night in certain parts. That said I go often for the day but tend to stay out of town now.
We have stayed at the Empire which is gorgeous and has a pool (indoor and out). Sitting on the prom watching the world go by is lovely, walking up the pier, the tram up the great Orme, seal spotting on the Little Orme - all great things to do.
There are some good pubs (the one by the tram station is great) and a couple of lovely restaurants.
Days out to Conwy and Anglesey are a must!

RNApolymerase · 07/05/2026 19:20

There are goats.

TheGirlWhoLived · 07/05/2026 19:21

Have you thought about other beautiful parts of wales?

StripedVase · 07/05/2026 19:24

The owl sanctuary on the edge of town is fantastic and has a great pizza restaurant. The beach is lovely, the promenade is proper old school fairground. Beware the seagulls though, they will take food right out of your hands. Walk up the Orme if able, or tram, for great view & possible wild goat sightings. Town is dilapidated but has good cake shops & charity shops! Nearby Conwy is beautiful & has wild horses who will have foals just now.

JohnofWessex · 07/05/2026 19:26

You used to be able to go to Douglas from Llandudno on the 1955 Manxman, I did it once it was delightful but it all ended in 1982

StripedVase · 07/05/2026 19:27

Oh and the Mostyn art gallery is great too! & has excellent cafe.

StripedVase · 07/05/2026 19:28

(I think that's where the goats are headed in that picture.)

Nain2026 · 07/05/2026 19:30

There's not much of a beach in Llandudno, and what there is, is pebbles. Check what's on at Venue Cymru during your visit, as well as all the other attractions already mentioned. The pier is lovely and there's a bar and a cafĂŠ at the very end, to make the walk worthwhile.

I have spent a lot of time there for various work related reasons. It’s not awful at all and there are some nice bits. The Orme is lovely. I do feel quite fed up after a few days though.

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 19:42

How long are you going for?

Eggybreadwithnuts · 07/05/2026 20:08

6-7 days

SwedishEdith · 07/05/2026 20:16

For that long, I'd base yourself on Anglesey (Beaumaris), and just visit Llandudno as a day trip.

lljkk · 07/05/2026 20:35

I stayed there for 3 nights last summer. I crossed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in kayak & did some cycling in the area.

I enjoyed it but also couldn't fill 7 nights in that area. Chip shops were decent. :)

TimeToStopLurking · 07/05/2026 21:15

I second watching out for seagulls, one cheeky one swooped and took a beak full of my ice cream straight from the cone in my hand. They're lightning fast and brazen.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 07/05/2026 21:22

It has a lovely ice cream shop! Hire a bike and you can ride for miles along the cycle path.

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/05/2026 21:57

If you are there for a week I would stay somewhere else and have a day trip to Llandudno. Caernarfon is a good base with a fan castle, as is Conwy. If you are a gin lover take a trip to the Aber Falls distillery!

Agree - definitely Anglesey. Beaumaris, Menai or Trearddur Bay as your base.

Idlewilder · 07/05/2026 22:17

The funicular railway is fab! We were there on a sunny day and it was magical to go up and be on the top of the world.

SybilEsmeGytha · 07/05/2026 22:17

@Eggybreadwithnuts You could also look at staying around conwy for pubs and food. You can also get the number 5 bus into llandudno in 20 mins cheaply if you want to day trip and have a drink and they run until after 10pm at night. You can also get the train into Chester for foodie day trip.

Conwy food recommendations:
Signatures
Erskine arms
Dylans
The Telford
Alfredos
The Jackdaw (fine dining)

Llandudno:
The cottage Loaf
The Albert
East
Roustas (bring your own alcohol)
Dylans

Ive holidayed in this area for 2 or 3 weeks a year as a couple for over a decade so can share more recommendations if helpful and depending on if you'll have a car.

LizandDerekGoals · 07/05/2026 22:24

We went at Easter and ate at Wildwood in the evening and there wasn't a crumb left on anybody’s plate. Including two teens and a tween.

sakura06 · 07/05/2026 22:30

I love Llandudno but would probably choose to stay in Conwy if I had a choice. Llandudno’s position makes it very windy and it has an east shore and west shore! The Orme is beautiful, as is the Little Orme.

Zov · 07/05/2026 22:35

Not enough to occupy you for 6-7 days in Llandudno @Eggybreadwithnuts It's a nice place, for a daytrip, and maybe 2 days tops.

This is if you have a car...

What about staying at Bangor Travelodge? From there you have easy access to The Llanberis Pass, Snowdon (and Snowdonia in general,) Anglesey, Menai Straits, Llandudno, Betws-y-Coed , (a beautiful Snowdonia village near Swallow Falls waterfall,) Swallow Falls is less than a fiver to get into too. (Well it was 2 years ago!) Then there's Zip World and the underground mines where you can explore and play underground cave golf. And Colwyn Bay is not too far where there is a nice beach. And there's loads more to do up in that area.

.
