Recreating his childhood, yes to an extent. That explains the Neverland theme park stuff. Similar to why adults go to Disney without kids. If the seats on swings were a bit more generous and the chains didn't dig in I'd still have a go.
Being a big kid a heart is probably what drives lots of people to do sports and hobbies.
Exactly! Lots of grown-ups have childish hobbies that I don't understand. That's why I think Neverland was something he genuinely wanted and not just a ploy to make him more appealing to kids. You'd have to be insanely calculating to build an entire theme park in your backyard for that reason.
"to give them the childhood I never had",
It 100% natural to want better or different for your kids than you had yourself.
Yes every parent wants to give their kid the best but at the point they're thinking of having a child to "give them the childhood I never had" that is all about the parent. The child doesn't even exist at that point. It's therapy for the parent. It's them trying to recreate their childhood instead of just going to therapy. I had a good childhood so I can't identify with that, but obviously a terrible childhood is going to mess you up and make you want to "fix" it somehow. Most people can just have their own kids, but for whatever reason Michael couldn't. We all know the lengths he went to when he eventually did have them.
But taking other peoples kids into your bedroom or having sleep overs is a massive no-no.
What straight thinking normal adult would do that?
Thats the line that shouldn't be crossed!!
Definitely, he crossed a lot of boundaries. I just don't know if any of it was sexual. I mean it most likely was, I'm not completely in denial (anymore) but I still have a tiny amount of doubt. He had lost the plot by the time he was doing all that.
