I’ve noticed some people saying children are more expensive as they get older. Is that true for you? I’ve paid for nursery which is a lot so I’m hoping it’s not for me 😂. I’m curious what everyone’s experience has been.

Nursing students in N.I. get a £5,165 a year bursary from the Department of Health on top of having their fees paid.

DD isn’t a nursing student - as an AHP she just receives a reduced maintenance loan (£3,950/year…) to reflect the fact that her fees are covered. There’s a £2.5k AHP bursary from DoH but unlike nursing it’s means tested and she doesn’t qualify due to my income.

The nursing bursary is shockingly low (£430/month) for a population of students who are frequently out on full time placement with such little scope to work alongside. The fact that nurses are totally ineligible to apply for maintenance loans to assist with costs on top of the bursary is a disgrace in my opinion
