Spotted some CFs in the wild

Went to the garden centre earlier with my toddler, no parent and child parking spaces available...because a pair of childless twats had taken two of the parent and child bays up for their one (1) car.

I asked them (as I schlepped from the far side of the car park to the store) whether they had a child or a disability and they said no to both.

I asked them why they thought it was appropriate to take up 2 bays and their response was that it shouldn't bother me as it was no more convenient to park in this space than any other...which made me ask why they couldn't have parked elsewhere then!

Woman then says she knows what it's like to have kids (toddler was in my arms) as she has 5 kids. I replied that she should know how inconvenient it is to park further away due to someone else's selfishness, then I sauntered off.

No point to this thread really except to raise awareness to any similarly minded twats that you are CFers.

Feel free to add your CF stories below if you want to also raise awareness of what fucks you off and hopefully shame some CFers in the process.

If someone parks in a space without a blue badge then it's perfectly ok to as them. Unless you actually meant 'never ask someone who is displaying a blue badge'?

I wouldn’t ask anyone, under any circumstances, if they had disabilities, in a car park or anywhere else. I think that’s wrong and intrusive. You don’t. It’s fine to have different opinions.

Yes, it's absolutely to have different opinions - although your earlier post came across as a decree rather than an opinion, and one I disagree with. If I was waiting for a disabled space and someone had parked there without a blue badge I would ask them why. The space is not for them.

I think that would be far fewer problems if P&C spaces were just abolished. All they cause is arguments and complaints.

Agree. And maybe encourage people to walk or cycle more.

Yes I think it needs challenging as there are so many entitled people who seem to lack decency

NewGoldFox · 25/06/2026 14:23

You could’ve let your toddler wang a trolley into their car.

It doesn’t need challenging, but if you think it does then tell someone in the store who has the authority to do sure the parking spaces on private land are being used appropriately. Random members of the public do not have that authority and should mind their own business.

Have you ever tried doing that? Nothing happens. However, if you want to try doing that, then go ahead - meanwhile, others, including me, are free to speak to people who have no right using a space that doesn't belong to them.

This!

itsgettingweird · 25/06/2026 16:05

The easier solution is to put the p and c spaces at the back of car parks.

Parents get the wide spaces.
People won’t park in them without kids.
disabled spaces can be put back as the nearest spaces to a store.

Job done

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 25/06/2026 16:11

I actually think P&C spaces should be further away from the entrance. The main thing is having the extra space and it would stop the CFs using them (and having to schlep all the way to the shop) 😁

AgingLikeGazpacho · 25/06/2026 16:14

I'm of the view that anyone can challenge someone else's antisocial or inconsiderate behaviour, it doesn't need to come from authority.

I'm so tired of people driving around like no-one else exists - people who drive down the middle of the fecking road (forcing others to stop to let them pass when both cars could fit otherwise), people parking right opposite narrow junctions or driveways (for cases where it makes manoeuvring in/out more challenging), people parking partially on the pavement in a way that doesn't allow wheelchairs or prams to pass, people parking alongside parked cars to nip to the shop and closing off the road in the process, people parking in spots that are reserved for residents/disabled/parents when they don't belong in those categories.

There's a guy at my DD's nursery who consistently blocks in other parents because he can't be bothered to park further up the road - he could get to nursery earlier if he wants to nab a spot in the parking lot, but he'd prefer to come late and make everyone wait for him to move his car.

None of it is driven by malice, just a total lack of consideration for others

“There's a guy at my DD's nursery who consistently blocks in other parents because he can't be bothered to park further up the road”

Someone will be along in a minute to say “just go to a different nursery” 😂 Probably the PP who said “just leave your baby at home with your partner”

Or coming in with obscure edge cases that justify some of the behaviour I listed e.g. "maybe their power steering wasn't functioning and their arms were too weak so they couldn't move out the centre of the road". The lengths people go to to justify crappy behaviour never ceases to amaze me but I guess it's quite fun to be contrary online 🧌

I always find it really annoying too. To get a door open wide enough to get a child up into a seat or a baby car seat into the base is often impossible in normal car spaces. They are also adjacent to the store which stops(hopefully) kids being hit by cars It’s utterly selfish of people without disabilities or children to use them.

TheChewdors · 25/06/2026 22:08

You sound like you enjoy causing drama, talking about ‘schlepping’ and then ‘confronting’ them

I was agreeing with Sir Chenin but wouldn’t necessarily say anything directly to them but it doesn’t make it right

Generally not a drama causer, no. If they were parked in a single bay I wouldn't have commented at all. But brazenly brandishing their big plant pots about when parked across two P&C bays was taking the Mick.

Contrary to some PPs, I think complaining to store staff and getting them booted out of the parking lot would have been a bigger drama than directly talking to them and letting them drive off in their own time

The one that really gets me is when people use a blue badge space when they haven't got the disabled/very elderly person with them. It's annoying when you have a frail 95 year old with you and you can't park near the shop because of physically active people on there own taking advantage of the space.
When challenged I once heard the argument ...'well I'm shopping for them"
And? Yes I get it's slower and inconvenient to park further away but that hardly supercedes a disabled person having to go home and not shop at all because the spaces are used up.
If I shop with my 95 year old mother we can use her blue badge. If she isn't with me I can't and wouldn't dream of doing so. I actually know someone who did get a fine fo doing this and was really annoyed because '1 was shopping for my mother' . She was 38 and was a person who visited the gym 3 times a week. Being in a hurry and it being handy just doesn't cut it

My cousin has my aunt's blue badge in her car as she often gives her lifts. My aunt was in hospital and I visited her at the same time as my cousin. When we left, I went to pay for my parking but my cousin said she'd parked in the free disabled car park because she had the blue badge. I said but you're not disabled and she said no, but I'm visiting a disabled person! Some people have no shame.

Honestly, I think your behaviour was equally as twattish. You are not the parking space police, it is not your place to go about confronting people. I have friend who is currently using p&c spaces when needed following an operation that has had a huge effect on his mobility, but they don’t give out temporary disabled badges.

I’d rather that people in his position could get their food shopping without confrontation, risk
and excessive pain than people like
you were saved walking a couple of
hundred steps.

But your friend probably parks considerately and doesn't take up two spaces with one car!

BlackeyedSusan · 25/06/2026 23:45

ThisTimeWillBeDifferent · 25/06/2026 12:12

I’m not suggesting asking the question is the same, but that the act of parking in a P&C space when you have no child with you nor any good reason not to walk the extra handful of steps determines that you probably aren’t a decent person, just like the person that doesn’t put their trolley back.

If people stopped parking in them simply because they’re legally entitled to despite it being unpleasant behaviour, people wouldn’t ask the question. We can’t police because it’s rude to ask, so the problem gets worse because no one is policing it.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Few parents put the trolley back at Tesco. It was much easier if someone had left one out. They were put against the wall so you could grab one rather than have to walk across the car park to the trolley storage with two toddlers/baby etc or leave the kids in the car while you fetched a trolley.

Stanislas · 26/06/2026 10:45

Yes fine put the parent and child at the far side but please have a trolley park close so the parent can manoeuvre child into it without having to leave child in the car or heft child across car park. .

Error404FucksNotFound · 26/06/2026 14:03

Absolutely. Its bonkers how often supermarkets don't have this. It would make things a lot easier to have one of the trolley points at the back of the car park.

dancehysterical22 · 26/06/2026 20:41

BelieveInCher · 25/06/2026 11:33

What does that have to do with my point? Why have you quoted me?

Because there would be no need to challenge someone over their disability of they had a blue badge. Relax!

JemimaTiggywinkles · 26/06/2026 20:45

I actually think p&c spaces should be far from the entrance with a trolley park nearby. They are really needed for the side space - making it easier to deal with car seats and so that small kids don’t smack their doors into adjacent cars. Kids who can’t walk far can then be popped straight into the trolley. No CFs are going to try to take the spaces if they’re further away!

eta: should have rtft as clearly this idea has already been suggested!
