Spotted some CFs in the wild

Went to the garden centre earlier with my toddler, no parent and child parking spaces available...because a pair of childless twats had taken two of the parent and child bays up for their one (1) car.

I asked them (as I schlepped from the far side of the car park to the store) whether they had a child or a disability and they said no to both.

I asked them why they thought it was appropriate to take up 2 bays and their response was that it shouldn't bother me as it was no more convenient to park in this space than any other...which made me ask why they couldn't have parked elsewhere then!

Woman then says she knows what it's like to have kids (toddler was in my arms) as she has 5 kids. I replied that she should know how inconvenient it is to park further away due to someone else's selfishness, then I sauntered off.

No point to this thread really except to raise awareness to any similarly minded twats that you are CFers.

Feel free to add your CF stories below if you want to also raise awareness of what fucks you off and hopefully shame some CFers in the process.

I’d quite like P&C spaces to be moved to the side/end of the car park away from the entrance, with a safe path to reach the entrance. I have 4 kids, and it is the wider space I need, not proximity to the store. If the P&C spaces were further away then non-child people wouldn’t use them!

Exactly. People seem to presume new parents are just lazy but with the new required car seats it’s a nightmare and you can’t easily get the children in and out.

Error404FucksNotFound · 25/06/2026 12:21

2 p&c spaces? Were they driving a tank?

P&c spaces should be at the far end of the car park. If what's needed is extra space then put them at the back and people will only use them when needed.

MightyDandelionEsq · 25/06/2026 12:16

Hard disagree. The new car seats are like a tardis and it’s really difficult to move a small baby or child from them into a pram safely due to small parking spaces and how big cars have gotten.

A lot of parents would be happier with the spaces being further away if it gave us room for prams and to open our doors fully.

Then just park further away! Or leave bsby with partner when you go shopping.

I have used p&c parking when the disabled is full. I do put my badge on show.

At our local expensive gym I had a front row view of CFers parking in the last disabled bay right outside the door. No blue badge, obvs. My friend who has a disabled husband drove along in their car, no spaces left so they blocked in the CFers in their car & made reception aware. Couple of hours later friend & husband leave, shortly followed by CFers. CFers follow them to Sainsbury's & intimidate them so friend calls the police as she was very scared. CFers are now banned from the gym. Good result but sad that friend & husband had to go through that. This morning half of the cars parked in the disabled bays were not displaying s badge

A very average sized car! Honestly there didn't seem to be any real rationale behind occupying 2 spaces. The P&C bays were already individually wide enough to fully open the car doors without hitting anything

The one that really gets me is when people use a blue badge space when they haven't got the disabled/very elderly person with them. It's annoying when you have a frail 95 year old with you and you can't park near the shop because of physically active people on there own taking advantage of the space.
When challenged I once heard the argument ...'well I'm shopping for them"
And? Yes I get it's slower and inconvenient to park further away but that hardly supercedes a disabled person having to go home and not shop at all because the spaces are used up.
If I shop with my 95 year old mother we can use her blue badge. If she isn't with me I can't and wouldn't dream of doing so. I actually know someone who did get a fine fo doing this and was really annoyed because '1 was shopping for my mother' . She was 38 and was a person who visited the gym 3 times a week. Being in a hurry and it being handy just doesn't cut it

Surely you know that there are invisible disabilities? I look like a fit and healthy person. I am not. I have a blue badge. It is due to ME/CFS which is very debilitating.

FriendlyGreenAlien · 25/06/2026 12:34

I indicate left and slow down as I approach my driveway, so I can reverse on to it. The number of idiots who try to go around me, or pull up right behind me and have to reverse, and then yell at me, drives me to distraction. I’m following the Highway Code. I’m not sure they know what that is.

HangryBrickShark · 25/06/2026 12:38

Beautiful swim yesterday on the River Avon in Warwickshire in 35c heat. Stretch of river shared between kayakers, paddleboarders, hired boats and gondolas and swimmers. Was so peaceful at noon. I was swimming near the bank watching the beautiful dragon flies and admiring the lillies. But within half an hour the river was teaming with young lads (20's and 30's) showing off to each other, shouting, jeering effing and blinding and the smell of weed being smoked.

Completed my swim and back to the car to get changed only to find a group of school kids camped out next my car smoking weed again. Can't stand the smell of weed, felt so sick.

This happened to me once because of a stupid cow pulling up right behind me when I clearly indicated I was reverse parking. She refused to move & it turned into a nasty road rage incident. Thank god OH was with me

zigazigaaaing · 25/06/2026 12:58

OP I see this all the time and it grinds my gears, in our local supermarket people always use the parent and child, white van men sitting in them having their lunch break. It reflects how our society just doesn’t care or value mothers and young families on my opinion. We’re treated as an inconvenience so often

SpottyPyjama · 25/06/2026 09:55

People with mobility issues that don’t qualify for a BB might also need to be able to open doors wide.

They might, and they could, in just one space.

However this pair weren’t struggling with mobility issues as they were carrying heavy items.

Are you the kind of twat that takes up space specifically set aside for other people because of their needs?

Krankenhausenflausen · 25/06/2026 13:07

Having kids isn't a disability. 😅 You're perfectly capable of parking in a normal space and walking a few extra metres.

There was gridlock on a street near me caused by a similar scenario, both sides of the road completely blocked because no-one would reverse or make space. After 10 mins one person left their vehicle to redirect everyone and get it all unblocked but was a crazy lack of foresight by the tailgating morons

That's not what @shiningstar2 described though. We all know that people have hidden disabilities - but these are people who confirm they're shopping for someone else.

But he wouldn’t need to park across two spaces.
They are wide spaces because the car doors need to open wide to deal with car seats.

Yep

I asked the question because they clearly did not have a child and both of them were lugging large, heavy plant pots so very unlikely to be disabled (also from them not using the freely available disabled parking bays nearby). What irked me was the fact that they took up 2 bays rather than 1.

I don't really care if I came across as a twat tbh, I'm sick of people not thinking about others while misusing public resources. My hope was that next time they have a bit more consideration for others next time they park. If you don't want to be called out for bad behaviour then act with integrity in the first place....

I do agree with others that the parent and child bays could probably be better placed further away with more emphasis being placed on safe passage to the shop + width of bays rather than proximity

There you go so.

They acted like a twat.

You acted like a twat.

One cancels the other out, balance is restored.

suburburban · 25/06/2026 13:33

It is selfish of them, why not be considerate of others and play by the rules

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 25/06/2026 13:39

I’ve had CF parked in my, clearly marked out, permit holder only parking bay at work. I’ve also had them park across the bay so they take up at least 2 spaces.
When challenged they never apologise. There is always some excuse. They are usually going shopping and can’t be arsed parking in the free allocated car parks. I always hope that someone parks across their driveway at home.

Arlanymor · 25/06/2026 13:41

Don’t ask people if they have disabilities, just don’t do that. Ever.

It's not so much the distance itself that is the issue: 1. Width of bays is better for getting child in and out and 2. In my case was proximity to the trolley bay from P&C parking vs end of car park, which would save some back and forth between trolley bay and car and having to negotiate a wriggly toddler on each leg of the trip

Ultimately, there's a reason why P&C bays exist, think it's a bit silly to make it sound unreasonable for parents to expect to be able to use them for their intended purpose in lieu of CFs

Fair point, should have just asked if there was any reason they felt they needed to occupy 2 P&C parking bays if they didn't have a child and there were free disabled parking spaces available as then I would have made my point without directly asking about disabilities

ThisOldThang · 25/06/2026 13:54

I occasionally park in them without my kids when I go shopping in the evening. There are loads of spaces at my local Sainsbury's and the added width makes parking a lot easier. I see it as a victimless crime at that time of day.

If someone parks in a space without a blue badge then it's perfectly ok to as them. Unless you actually meant 'never ask someone who is displaying a blue badge'?
