Oooo no! Vegemite is all kinds of wrong!

BIossomtoes · 07/05/2026 18:47

They’re both disgusting.

Either way, it keeps the bots away ....

MaybeNotBob · 07/05/2026 19:11

Haven't been able to go and vote until now.

Been dealing with the staggering incompetence of BT Business for the entire day. And they still haven't sorted it out, but they've all buggered off home...

itsgettingweird · 07/05/2026 19:11

Evening!

Hope you are all well.

I’ve had to take a break from these threads as there was a lot going on and with all the disaster that is British and international politics right now o couldn’t afford the headspace.

However - as is my duty I was at the polling station first thing today to cast my votes.

I did laugh a few weeks ago when I got home to DS telling me “we’ve had a flyer from reform but don’t worry I’ve already put it in the recycling bin” 🤣

How spooky, I was just thinking about you. Probably because I read something about swimming competitions,

Cod, jersey royals and a massive salad here.
No to salted caramel (no to caramel full stop) and a big yes to Marmite, especially on toast with a banana mashed on top.

I’m enjoying a week off as DS flew to Berlin to compete yesterday!

Im using the time wisely to do fuck all 🤣

Karistyleaftea · 07/05/2026 19:39

Been and voted Labour.
Tory who lost last time around is standing again.

You very much deserve it. Enjoy!

Just back from voting - Labour is our best shot here to keep Reform out so we went with the head, not the heart.

cardibach · 07/05/2026 20:19

I think this thread shows the issue with polls. Lots of us would have said one thing if asked but then voted tactically when it came to it

itsgettingweird · 07/05/2026 20:25

I voted Labour. Our local Labour counsellors have made a tangible difference in the community, hold hubs every month, have opened up a few school uniform exchange, are out litter picking and respond to anything immediately.

tonight someone posted a swarm on bees on a pavement on a street corner of the town FB page. Within 1 hour the counsellor is on saying she’s reported it to council and keeps everyone updated.

She genuinely cares about the community - her politics is irrelevant imo - i use to vote for our Tory counsellor who was the same.

locally I want someone who makes a community difference.

DuncinToffee · 07/05/2026 20:32

Voting done.

I think with Reform and Restore in the mix, that effect is only going to get stronger. The Greens are also very polarising for some.

I’ve had harissa honey marinated chicken, halloumi and red pepper for dinner. Was fab.

Edited

Sounds yummy. Do you have a recipe?
We had spicy bean casserole and baked potatoes.

As a digression, I just tried a spoonful of salty honey in my Earl Grey.

I can see it becoming a regular treat ....

Good lord.

👋 to Itsgettingweird - enjoy your week!

I adapted it from an internet one! I mixed about equal quantities of harissa paste and honey with some turmeric and crushed garlic and marinated pieces of chicken thigh, chunks of harissa, red pepper cut in largish chunks and red onion in wedges in it for a few mins while I got the rice cooking in veg stock. Then put the mix including the marinade into a pan and fried it, stirring occasionally until the rice was done. Then added the rice to the pan and stirred it so it absorbed the rest of the marinade.

Well, that is it. Polls are closed. I just pray 🙏 Reform don't do as well as expected and that Labour bloody well learn something.

Llttledrummergirls · 07/05/2026 22:13

I had a microwavable pasta meal as we had a very fast turn around from arriving at the hotel and leaving again.
