She can demand all she likes, she won’t be getting one. I don’t know where she finds the nerve.

Or the complete lack of understanding the Tories are currently incinerated and buried toast, way beyond Labour’s potential vote.

cardibach · 07/05/2026 11:12

And still presenting his ousting as inevitable/desirable. I just don’t think it is. We need stability and anyway nobody else in the parliamentary party would command enough support.

grannycake · 07/05/2026 11:19

@BestIsWest. Same dilemma here. I’ve come to the conclusion that Plaid will win but they’ll need Labour to form a government so three votes here gone to Labour

It keeps journalists and posters on MN busy

Just been and voted for the three incumbent LD councillors. The results here will be interesting.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 07/05/2026 12:06

Completely agree if Starmer is replaced, it's ridiculous if Badenoch calls for an election, having opposed the idea when it was a Tory PM being replaced mid-term. The problem is, I suspect 99% of the press will focus on Labour MPs who called for a GE when Johnson and Truss stepped down, ask why it's different now etc., make the demand for a GE the story in a way they didn't in 2022.

LizzieW1969 · 07/05/2026 12:08

We have a very good Lib Dem councillor here, so that’s who I voted for. Thankfully there is no way that either Reform or the Tories will win here so I didn't need to vote tactically.

Llttledrummergirls · 07/05/2026 12:16

We aren't voting in my area, just as well, dh and I are at St Pancras Station waiting for our train.

I don't envy those of you who are voting today.

As predicted voted Tory <sadface>. 3 times, as I am a proxy for 2.

It hurt. But nowhere near as much as it would hurt to see that cunt Farage and his coalition of cockwombles crowing over a Reform run Birmingham.

My proxy instructions were "Anyone but Labour or Reform", so my conscience is clear

Well done Jane. It is for the greater good. We appreciate your sacrifice 💐

I was pleased that there were people there before me, and after me. Also made a point of thanking all the officials for their service. I don't care how cringy it sounds - in among all the ReformaBollocks about what it is to be British, let us give a huge cheer for the silent majority that volunteer for these tasks

Kemi is furious latest

NEW: Tory source responds to David Gauke being nominated for a knighthood by Labour

"Kemi absolutely livid Labour nominated Gauke. She wouldn't have him anywhere near any list. Starmer even snuck it through a random honours committee to stop Kemi vetoing it."

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 07/05/2026 12:59

Gauke was one of the cleverer Tories.

Voted earlier. Polling station doing a good trade which is the norm in my ward.

Just getting my crap together before I head to the seaside for a few days. Meant to have left hours ago!

have a great last day in Rome placemats!

I absolutely love this.

In other happy news, DD got the librarian job she interviewed for this week. It's part time but will work around her other job.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2026 13:03

Excellent news pointy.

Notonthestairs · 07/05/2026 13:04

Interesting news video of US fracking site on Sky app. Reform’s plans to encourage fracking in the UK rather underreported IMV.

TemperanceWest · 07/05/2026 13:09

SerendipityJane · 07/05/2026 13:04

So he wasn't lying.

MsJinks · 07/05/2026 13:26

Voted labour here - as on tactical site - I’m sure we are in my ward unlikely to return anyone else but there was, unusually a queue. However, the clerk dif try to tell me I was at the wrong place and took ages to find me - then apparently same with guy behind - so it could have been that ha!

We do have wards here going reform - one lovely contender is open about his Neo Nazi views - so that’s good huh! Can’t believe it tbh - dunno whether to be sad or angry.

A nearby small northern city probably will go to Reform control - expected Farage will be gloating on that one if so - can’t abide to hear or see him tbh.

bentneckwine1 · 07/05/2026 13:31

I have just voted in Scotland - John Swinney is my MSP and I definitely didn’t vote for him. I would love him to loose his seat. I voted Labour on both slips

cardibach · 07/05/2026 14:46

I voted earlier before going to the gym (questioning my life decisions on that, though not the voting!). Saw a very cute whippet puppy being carried and avery excellent rough coat lurcher in the polling station. Good to see the dogs exercising their civic duties!
Voted Plaid which I’ve been planning to do for a long time. I did one of those ‘check which manifesto you like’ quizzes yesterday and they came out my main party too, so doubly satisfied.

Brilliant he was one of the more sensible Tories if I remember rightly.
excellent news pointy well done your dd.
I’ve been out with two local councillors all morning reminding that it’s polling day was actually really quite positive & had some nice chats.

BestIsWest · 07/05/2026 16:02

Been and voted Labour.

Been and voted Labour.

I was talking to someone at choir last night who I think is in your constituency- he was going to do the same after being undecided

BIWI · 07/05/2026 16:31

Congratulations to your daughter @pointythings Flowers
Done my voting. Happily was able to vote for the party I wanted to vote for, rather than having to think about voting to keep another out.
