Good point. I guess they could build along The Backs or on one of the commons in Cambridge.

And there would be protest camps with people chained to trees in all 3 cities in no time at all!

DuncinToffee · 04/05/2026 09:35

I guess in Liverpool they can fill in some docks and build ont that, time consuming and costly but I am sure Reform has a plan

Around us, we have army land. Most is now being used for house building but maybe they could squeeze in a camp.

There certainly would.

Do you think we could get Brexit voting areas to cover all costs resulting from Brexit?
You vote for it, you pay for it?

We couldn’t do that because it’s illegal.
Yusuf’s gibberish is too and would get bogged down in legal challenges.

But it will thrill a certain segment of Reform voters. And that’s all it’s designed to do. Not the brightest bulbs.

When the electoral system has broken down in a time when all markers for living standards are in reverse, a very valid strategy is to promise the moon to an electorate that is already cycnicised into not really believing it anyway (remember how unconcerned Brexiteers were with the details of the idea ?).

Then, when you fail to deliver them you just blame "the blob" and reinforce the narrative that you are somehow the underdog.

That would be a great deflection from the deregulation of crapto, banking and fracking.

The flagship policies will be the ones they are offering to their donors - not the ones they flog to voters.

They could demolish the Museum of Slavery at the Albert Dock to make a bit more room - and don't tell them but Liverpool has some massive empty parks

True but all cities not re-knowned [sp] for taking matters lying down

What is happening

Rupert Lowe (whose Restore party is to Reform's right on deportations) criticises this policy of partisan targetting, calling it a vindictive and vengeful gimmick that wouldnt work

It seems the further you push to the right, the more it looks like the left. We are a hairsbreadth away from a policy that the only way to run public services and companies in a non-woke way to serve Good British Patriots is to take them into Patriotic Ownership.

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2026 09:55

Everton has a nice new stadium. I am sure that could be used. And Anfield. Why not?

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2026 09:56

countrygirl99 · 04/05/2026 09:32

I guess the price if land in/near Cambridge would kill that idea pretty quickly but the could go to the Fens which are pretty Brexit central. I'm sure they would welcome the detention camps 😁

How about using the Universal Studios land? 'Excellent' transport links.

Actually that genuinely would amuse me.

I've been to Old Trafford several times and it always amazed me that I was in a stadium with over 70,000 people - also Manchester United won all the matches I watched. 😊

The Etihad Stadium would be an excellent place for a detention centre - runs away!

Well it’s very odd that a party that is so obsessed with historic Britain that they plan to build detention centres in Norwich/Cambridge/Bristol etc city centres.

If putting pressure on voters is the name of the game maybe political parties can just withdraw services from areas that don’t vote for them. No vote, no school or hospital.

It's what Trump has done in non GOP states.

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2026 10:16

Yes, I realised as I typed that post it was ringing a bell.

I’ll bet some Reform voters would love the threat of withdrawing services to non Reform voters.

Newcastle has the entire town Moor to build them on.

Spot on, they really are a bunch of grifting cunts.

Sunny here in north Wales but I'm sure it won't last. It is a Bank Holiday after all.

Yes! I am stopping right now. At least until after the elections.
