I'd bloody love to be a fly on the wall in the private rooms of Charles and Camilla to listen in to their conversations after a day of rictus grins with Trump

I’ve been watching the coverage of the US visit and honestly, I am exhausted just looking at them.

I would give anything to be a fly on the wall when they finally retreat to Blair House, kick off their shoes, and pour a very large G&T. Can you imagine the debrief after a day of Trump and his acolytes?

  • You just know Charles is rolling his eyes over that shooting 'incident' at the dinner. "Honestly, Camilla, the way he carries on, you’d think he’d single-handedly fought off a battalion rather than... well, whatever that theatrical display was."
  • Watching Charles, an actual environmentalist, having to nod politely while Trump explains 'tremendous' bees to him must have been a test of patience greater than the Coronation.

They look so professional in public, but there must be a point where they just look at each other and say, "WTAF". Or do they have to stay 'on' just in case the room is bugged with 'beautiful, golden' microphones?

I'm not sure anything you paid me could persuade me to stand in Trump's close proximity, let alone shake his sweaty hands and pretend to be enjoying myself. The man really makes my skin crawl. As for having to keep looking pleasant and making conversation several times over irrespective of how you may be feeling, no thanks.

I really can't see why they shouldn't have a break afterwards, either. He's 77 with cancer, she's 78. How many of us would be working in those circumstances?

I'd want a holiday after having to hang out with Trump and I'm not 77 or ill.

There were many in Ireland who had serious misgivings about the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) visiting the White House on St.Patrick’s Day.
Many were against the trip.

I'm sure. It'll be interesting to see if any country refuses to meet with him. Most will same as UK and Ireland i think

maftaz · 29/04/2026 08:54

K+C have proved their relevance for a couple of hours anyway. They needed a bit of positive publicity to get them back on track with their subjects, and I suppose it was done out of necessity in these awful times. But the fact that it was needed doesn't sit well with me. Despite the good speeches, I look on any HOS visiting Trump as a bit of "lick arsing" as I call it.

AgnesX · 29/04/2026 08:58

Pass the gin darling...

Someone, somewhere said that Charles was the consummate professional. This will be stretching the limits of his diplomacy.

I'd want a bath in disinfectant.

After all the criticism which has been thrown at both Charles and Camilla over the years and more recently I think this really shows their worth to our country.

All the more so when considering Charles has cancer.

I’m proud of their representation of the UK in the cesspit which is the current US.

I agree

Loved this! Good old predictive text! “ Brian’s Finest Hour” 🤣🤣🤣

Brian is Private Eye's name for Charles.

Melania smiled far more when she was with Camilla and some young people than she ever does when with her husband. It was nice to see her look happy

I have no sympathy. She knew what she was marrying. And she has options now.

LaurieFairyCake · 29/04/2026 09:12

They’ve done brilliantly, consummate professionals. Amazing performance.

I’d have stabbed the orange cunt by now and be going to death by firing squad (re introduced by the US for 2026 🤦‍♀️😨)

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 09:17

They have a lot of it done for them. Makes life a lot easier. Plus we all know that by next week Trump will revert to type and carry on upsetting people and doing what he likes.

LeopardPrintFleece · 29/04/2026 09:23

I'm not always a massive royal family fan but I think they're doing a fantastic and very British job of appearing pleasant and dignified but you just know what they're thinking behind the scenes. Everyone knows they are only there at the request of the government in a 'keep your enemies closer' type capacity except the orange buffoon who is too stupid to realise.

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 29/04/2026 09:23

I was thinking the same thing OP. I think they will keep their thoughts to themselves in case their room is bugged. So it would be better to be a fly on the wall when they get back to the UK and can unleash 😂

Jitterybugs2 · 29/04/2026 09:24

I wonder if there will be a delayed reaction to the King’s speech. A bit like the Father Ted “Kick Bishop Brennan Up The Arse” episode.

TirednessOnToast · 29/04/2026 10:12

I think it was a big mistake to go. Having said that, Brian's speech was very good indeed. Clearly some of it 'landed' as Democrats applauded wildly, as Vance looked grumpy behind Chaz. It will have saved over the head of the Orange gibbon, but we're looking forward now to better times. I'm not a fan of C or C but did well in circs. Charles shouabsolutely meet Epstein survivors whilst there though (or at least Camilla)

TirednessOnToast · 29/04/2026 10:21

Ahem. Sb: 'sailed over' and 'Camilla should absolutely meet'. MN app strikes again.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 29/04/2026 10:31

Why on earth do you think Charles and Camilla are much different and won’t be having a grand old time.

They’re entitled, boorish and not very bright as well. Plus they’re well used to being besties with sex offenders aren’t they? Didn’t jimmy saville give Charles relationship advice?

this thread is fairly idiotic.

Katiesaidthat · 29/04/2026 10:41

The King and Queen of England meeting this idiot who only a couple of months ago was saying that the British could "keep their stupid little island" among other improprieties. Seriously? Even my husband, who is neither British nor American was shocked when he heard him say this, in public, on TV. He is completely unfit for presidency and the gift that keeps on giving.

Well he's posted a picture of himself with a huge machine gun, with a back drop of bombs going off. There are no words.

King and Queen of Britain actually.

I’ve noticed this. Camilla is good at warmth, she greets Melania as if they shared a dorm together 60 years ago.

She may not have been highly educated by today’s standards but Camilla comes across as intelligent and she will be extremely socially adept. I’ve heard she’s wickedly funny which must be rare in the gilded cage Melania has chosen for herself. She must be the perfect possible consort in this situation. It’s never about her either which very important when dealing with with narcissists and monarchs.

But yes, I bet they sleep for a week once they get home and get the exhaustive debriefing out of the way.

Unfortunately we have to navigate the world as it is and not as it should be and this is such an important visit.

Yes, you´re right, King and Queen of Britain, but that wasn´t the most pivotal part of what I was saying.

It's a compliment to be insulted by Trump tbh

Whoops75 · 29/04/2026 12:06

Trump is a cunning f**ker!
They won’t speak of it until home.

Read Trump called out Rory McIlroy at a dinner, told him to stand up. Said he was proud of him but was he really making a point because Rory refused to play two Trump tournaments since winning the masters?

REP22 · 29/04/2026 12:15

Be interesting to see what Trump has to post on TS when photos are issued of C&C meeting New York Mayor Mamdani (not a fan of the monarchy) later today. I'm glad they are paying their respects at the Ground Zero memorial.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 12:18

I found the latest tweet on line with President Trump and the guns and so on. I also had a look the other news outlets and nobody has mentioned it so far.
