I’ve been watching the coverage of the US visit and honestly, I am exhausted just looking at them.

I would give anything to be a fly on the wall when they finally retreat to Blair House, kick off their shoes, and pour a very large G&T. Can you imagine the debrief after a day of Trump and his acolytes?

• You just know Charles is rolling his eyes over that shooting 'incident' at the dinner. "Honestly, Camilla, the way he carries on, you’d think he’d single-handedly fought off a battalion rather than... well, whatever that theatrical display was."
• Watching Charles, an actual environmentalist, having to nod politely while Trump explains 'tremendous' bees to him must have been a test of patience greater than the Coronation.

They look so professional in public, but there must be a point where they just look at each other and say, "WTAF". Or do they have to stay 'on' just in case the room is bugged with 'beautiful, golden' microphones?

It would be interesting 😀but I think they would wait til back in the UK in case the room was bugged.
Would their car be from the British embassy ? If so they might speak “freer” there.

Surely their accommodation will be bugged? I should imagine they’ll keep any adverse comments until they’re safely home!

I imagine Charles is well practiced at keeping cool and not rolling his eyes.

I would fully expect their accommodation to be bugged and I'm sure UK security would expect that too. The place would have been checked of course but do they always find everything?

I imagine Charles having a good old rant and Camilla soothing his troubled brow (she seems rather good at that) and her seeing the funny side of the whole shebang. I think humour is how Camilla stays sane. Charles had had a lifetime of this but it really isn't Camilla's thing at all. In the old days she would have been desperate for a ciggie.

Trump cutting in front of Camilla shaking hands with various cabinet members ( i think ) was so incredibly rude. Cand C were left hanging and Trump just cracked on. Camilla did look like she was thinking what a wanker and Charles was just left hovering.

Yes I was absolutely aghast at that. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. What shockingly bad manners and breaking of protocol. The man is an ape.

I haven’t watched much of the coverage but what I have seen as made me see some value in the role of monarchy for once. Charles and Camilla are consummate professionals. I absolutely cringed at Trumps drivel about his mother thinking Charles was so ‘cute’ when he was a little boy. It was just so patronising and inappropriate. Charles is so good at not letting his contempt and disbelief show .

I think they deserve an oscar. I doubt many professional actors would be able to remain in character throughout all the nonsense he's spouted. Plus his lack of following protocols would result in most people getting frustrated. The fact they have remained in character and on the whole time is extremely impressive.

I bet they can't wait to board the plane and get home to debrief fully in the knowledge they won't be overheard.

I bet they go to bed and sleep all day for a week after this.
