Do some people genuinely not notice their own lines and wrinkles?

Just read on another thread a woman claiming to be mid 40s or older with not a single wrinkle and using no skincare other than a cheap £1 moisturiser. Hey I can’t see her but so many times I’ve had people say this to me in person, how they don’t have any wrinkles and yet I’m looking at their face and yes, yes they absolutely do!

Now I don’t mind lines and wrinkles I have a few myself but what is going on! Why do so many people, even those who are quite heavily lined and sun damaged insist that they haven’t any lines and everyone is shocked to hear they are a day over 21? Do other people have magic mirrors? Or perhaps there is an epidemic of untreated long sightedness?

Who cares? Apart from the Daily Mail that is.

We all age!
The end.

retinol does help a lot. But it’s genetics too
i don’t really have anything around my eyes but both my mum and dad have smile lines and I’ve had them since I was young and they’re now there as static wrinkles
I don’t mind lines, except when I walk past a mirror and see my mum appear in it Grin

I have a magic mirror that has told me I’m a munter all my life!

Don’t take any notice of it, sounds like it is definitely faulty!

What lines?

The one to the side of my mouth, think they’re called nasolabial

You have an amazing eye colour.

They’re v fine, barely there. It’s when it’s a deep furrow you want to worry!

Thank you. It’s a mystery… mums are dark brown, dads are pale blue!

Why would anyone "want to worry" in this case?

Have you never heard that express which means “ need to worry”?

I have, I just don't think having wrinkles of any degree is a reason for someone to worry. I know it was just a turn of phrase, I'm making an ideological point!

Agree.
Lines and wrinkles are part of aging. And it's a privilege to age. They don't "worry" me. They are part of me.

But turkey neck and jowls are too, and they’re not much of a privilege!

I think you need to consider why this bothers you so much.
If someone feels confident in their skin, then good for them I say!

It's one thing being confident, it's another thing to lie to yourself and others! Surely confidence in this case would be knowing you have wrinkles and not caring about them?

You genuinely can’t see them? And think your face beinf static is how you look all the time?

Unnecessary. I can't see them either!
