Do some people genuinely not notice their own lines and wrinkles?

Just read on another thread a woman claiming to be mid 40s or older with not a single wrinkle and using no skincare other than a cheap £1 moisturiser. Hey I can’t see her but so many times I’ve had people say this to me in person, how they don’t have any wrinkles and yet I’m looking at their face and yes, yes they absolutely do!

Now I don’t mind lines and wrinkles I have a few myself but what is going on! Why do so many people, even those who are quite heavily lined and sun damaged insist that they haven’t any lines and everyone is shocked to hear they are a day over 21? Do other people have magic mirrors? Or perhaps there is an epidemic of untreated long sightedness?

I think th4 issue is no one has ever encountered a naturally wrinkle free woman in their forties or fifties, no such thing has been witnessed ever, and we have so many people claiming they are wrinkle free, with beautiful skin, or looking much younger as they are fat. It’s not something most of us have ever seen, hence why it is met with some sceptism, as you’d think it would be common place .

however my view is is if people believe this then good for them,

Also I am NOT fat. I just happened to inherit good genes from my ancestors.

I have other issues related to my background so it all balances out.

But dont tell me that a woman at 45 who does not have wrinkles does not exist.

Why are there so many people with no wrinkles, who look decades younger than their actual age on this anonymous forum where nobody can see them and hardly anyone (if anyone at all) is like this IRL? Hmm, It’s a real head scratcher…🤔🙃

😄yes, online you get loads of people saying they look twenty years younger than they actually do. But in real life, how often do you find out someone you thought was a teenager is actually 38?

Hibernationistheplan · Yesterday 13:20

If I look at my face in the mirror when it isn't moving I have very few obvious wrinkles. If I move it you can see the lines. That probably explains why some people don't think they have any wrinkles when they do.

But you’re still doing better than the majority of people who past a certain age have wrinkles even when their face is still. I’d say that wrinkles is something that are there when your face is still. Like wrinkly skin. 🤷‍♀️. Lines when you smile are different.

OK i am sorry to take this there but “no such thing has been witnessed”

what is your basis for this fact?
what is your demographic reference point?

I dont want to make this racial but MANY African women do not have any wrinkles at my age (45) and I am one of them.

The world is not confined to your limited experience.

Naomi Campbell would be a good example imo. She’s denied having plastic surgery, I think she’s denied having Botox. Haven’t seen her for a bit but certainly in her mid/late 40s I don’t think she had wrinkles.

BestZebbie · Yesterday 13:34

I recalling having a shock when I grew out a fringe to the point I could start having the hair off my forehead - it was not the forehead I thought I had from when I last saw it ten years earlier!

Allseeingallknowing · Yesterday 13:37

Don’t think I look too bad fornearly 80!

Do some people genuinely not notice their own lines and wrinkles?
SpaceRaccoon · Yesterday 13:42

What I find quite funny is that quite a few people I know now use these really plasticky looking filters that remove all skin texture, whenever they post pictures on social media. I don't get it - people can see what they look like in person?

You look amazing

Again i ask you:

what is your basis for this fact?
what is your demographic reference point?

Have you considered differences in ethnicity?
Genetics?

Or is your entire life experience confined to a limited (Caucasion) social reference point?

I don't really know what you mean. I posted:

I don't see what's inaccurate about my post. I've never met anyone of any race who turned out to be twenty years older than they look, but I've seen several people on various forums claiming to look much younger than their age.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · Yesterday 16:38

As upthread, I don't claim.to look younger than I am (37).

My dark circles are pronounced, my pores are, in spite of my best efforts, obvious.

But I have two faint forehead lines that have been there since I was a teen and haven't changed, and one little lip wrinkle that I think has come from sleeping squished up.

The rest of my 37yo friends have more and deeper wrinkles. Which is far from a comment on their overall attractiveness. Wrinkling much just doesn't run in my (Celtic) family.

FourSevenThree · Yesterday 16:43

I suppose many just have never noticed them.
I suppose I'm one of them.
If you asked me without ththisi context, I might tell you that I don't have any. The logic is - I know that some people freek about lines and wrinkles. Actually, the only time you hear about them is from someone sure theirs are awful/need some fixing. So surely I'd have noticed if I had something feeking-worthy on my face. Wouldn't I?

Again I ask - have you been to Africa or the Caribbean?

I think, when you see your own face in the mirror every day, you don't really notice the flaws. I have developed quite a big sun spot/freckle on the side of my cheek, and it took me ages to notice it, even though it must be quite obvious to everyone else.

What I want to know is, why is it i look in the mirror and think I actually look ok for my age, yet if someone takes a photo of me even minutes later I look bloody awful in the picture!

TFImBackIn · Yesterday 19:44

Show me a woman who doesn't have a pair of prescription glasses and I'll show you someone who thinks they don't have wrinkles!

Random321 · Yesterday 20:11

There's 2 small ones beginning on my forehead, only appeared in the last year.

I think stress and sun exposure has a lot. I'm daily SPF, factor 50 and sunglasses in good weather and very low stress lifestyle.

My hands age me more than my face.

I have no wrinkles when I'm not wearing my glasses…😂

I’ve just seen Sinitta talking on GBNews about CGMOOH and oh my goodness she looks completely amazing. 62 years old and not a line on her face. No sagging. I am jealous.

Endorewitch · Yesterday 21:45

I dont know anyone who is wrinkledsaying this. But so many celebrities who have smooth wrinkle free skin insist it is due to moisturiser, but we all know it is Boto,Botox and more Botox and fillers. Do they take us for fools?

LilyCanna · Yesterday 22:04

I’m late 40s. I wouldn’t say I’ve got particularly noticeable fine lines but I certainly look my age as the shape of my face has changed in the last few years!

emmetgirl · Yesterday 22:40

Maybe they just don’t notice because they’re too busy having a life? 🤷‍♀️

People tell me I look young for my age (I do not, and I’m over the moon to just look my age). My skin is a weird one, I can go from borderline perfect skin, to grade A scrotum from 1 day to the next, not sure why, but it’s a huge difference, could it solely be down to water intake and sleep🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows!

Edited

I know the feeling 😂

My dad has wrinkles of course as he’s 77, but for his age…. His forehead
he wouldn’t know a moisturiser if it hit him in the face and I’ve seen him wash his face with swarfega before. I have just about got him to use SPF
