I’m not talking about going on marches, but minor things, that you know about.

Mine is I won’t play Michael Jackson songs, after all the alleged behaviour, which certainly wouldn’t be accepted by today’s standards.

The second is I won’t buy McCain products, after they put out an advert for Smileys, which referred to ‘knocker’s’ in them. I thought that language had died out in the seventies.

I worked for a bank in a call centre.

If customers were really unhappy, we could give them a £100 sweetener.

Well, you bet I found any excuse to give away as many £100's as I possibly could.

Banks are basically evil in my eyes.

Couldn't understand so many of my colleagues who would be so defiant putting customers on mute and saying things like "pfft, this guy's a %§~*!. He's definitely not getting £100!"

Like... A) it's not your money, it won't cost you anything
And B) you think the top bankers in charge are any better?
And C) give them £100, cheer them up, make your own day go smoother.

Baffled me.

I'm happy that more manufacturers are removing gelatine. There is no good reason for sweets to contain meat. Gelatine does not add flavour, so if any sweets have become tasteless it will be due to cost-cutting on other aspects of the recipe. See also, Cadbury's chocolate.

100% !
Who wants to eat powdered hoofs?! Yummy.

I love that (finally) sweeties are becoming more vegetarian/vegan. About time too.

Powdered hoofs? 🤢 Gross! No wonder I don't like sweets.

I'm enjoying 85% dark chocolate at the mo

I can't bear celebrities who foist their political views on us, so have gone off watching certain actors (David Tennant for example). Bet he's gutted!

I avoid Dyson products because I disapprove of him moving his production to China once he became successful. I used to sneer a bit at Emma Bridgewater's pottery but I absolutely salute her for going against financial advice to move her production to China. She insisted on keeping production in the Potteries where there were relevant skills and where unemployment was high. She admitted she lost a lot of money by this but wanted to do 'the right thing' by British workers. Good on her!

I agree! Just coz they're famous in no way means they know what is best!! In fact potentially the complete opposite!

Can you name this bank for us please so we can choose to bank with a company whose staff are not giving our money away to customers who don't deserve it?

CoffeeAndACroissant · 20/04/2026 10:55

If I'm in a queue of traffic and someone is at a junction waiting to join the queue, I won't let them out if they are in a Range Rover / Disco with a private number plate because I assume the drivers are knobs.

Your assumption would be correct

I won’t watch the HP movies

Because you don’t like JKR’s views? Or you do, and therefore don’t like the main actors who spoke against her/her views?

Or I’m thinking totally along the wrong lines and it’s something else entirely?

I've boycotted Amazon for years. Spending $bn on vanity space projects rather than projects to end poverty, homelessness or abuse?.

I love Amazon. I'm also happy to contribute to the vast sum of money that Amazon and Bezos give to humanitarian causes.

I block any YouTube channel that uses Karen as a description of a woman arguing with someone. Whatever else they put out is dead to me after that.

Me too block and downvote anyone who uses it

I don't let out anyone who reverses out of their driveway. If they've reversed on and are driving out I always give way

I won't buy 'the sun' newspaper
Don't watch films with ashton Kutcher or mila kunis in them

Who are you to decide who deserves it?

Who did you think you were to give away the money that belonged to other customers? Did you really think the bosses would just take less profit? No, it was shaved from somewhere else in the organisation.

I tell everyone how great they are along with the Strike books.

But thanks, because you have just reminded me that I boycott any films with Radcliffe, Watson and Grint as adults due to their appalling treatment of JKR.

If someone is standing to close to me in a shop , I swing readjust my bag with a swinging vigour
If it's at a till I take my sweetest time getting my purse out.... card out... packing away my stuff..

I have resisted the temptation to buy a Dyson hairdryer as I don't want even a penny of my money to go to him (alternative brilliant hairdryer/styler recommendations would be welcome!)

I imagine that poster giving away a few hundred extra pounds made essentially no difference whatsoever to overall profits. I’d also assume that staff were monitored on how many of these £100 payments they were giving out, and if it was higher than a given budget, they’d be spoken to (or their manager would be spoken to and the message would filter down).

What has the Strike books go to do with the HP movies?

Did you really need a reminder as to how awful Watson is???
