Husband insists moon landings were faked and 9/11 was a false flag secret operation the Americans did to themselves

I am désolé
My husband, he tell me he really believe there has never been a moon landing and that the 9/11 attacks were faked too.
I was in New York on 9/11
He knows this
He keeps saying things that have been disproven as conspiracy theory myths.
I wonder if I should be calling for a mental crisis unit.

Take his internet away.

tnorfotkcab · 15/04/2026 21:29

Tell him to get off TikTok and go for a walk in the real world....

Take his internet away.

If I do, I lose mine too.
Its like a sci fi film where really bad AI has replaced his once working brain.

Dose he think the earth is flat.

roses2 · 15/04/2026 21:33

I also think the latter could be true. Did you watch the Michael Moore movie about this?

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 15/04/2026 21:33

Are there mitigating factors? As in, is he suffering ill health, unable to get out into the real world etc?
If my husband had all the usual options but was choosing to spend his time on this, I think it would be the end for me.

He does. That was his proof the moon landing wasn’t real. He said there are no stars in the footage. I said it was black and white footage and they were filmed during the moons day time, you don’t see stars in the day time. He looked at me like I was stupid.

No I have not.

(Lighthearted reply) I’m sceptical about the moon landings and DH is adamant that was legit but thinks 9/11 was an inside job, so we’ve just agreed never to talk about either subject ever again. It’s for the best.

He just randomly brought it up when I mentioned I can’t get my usual English news feed here in France. We were saying that too much news doom scrolling can be bad for your mental health. Then he launched into saying certain events weren’t even real news.

Ask him if he's talking out of his Uranus.

TomatoSandwiches · 15/04/2026 21:37

It's always a bit confronting when you realise you married an absolute idiot, you have my sympathy.

I might have to take that approach. He has form for confidently speaking nonsense. Like he thinks male mosquitos bite, not females because he thinks they bite with their penis.

He is in good health, 60+ but I do wonder.

I’m sceptical about the moon landings. Not because of TikTok but because one day I saw the photos in a newspaper and it struck me how odd the vehicle they landed in was.
It’s not exactly streamlined. Everything else humans have designed to fly are aerodynamic apart from that. How on earth did that thing lift off the moon without losing anything?

Thank you. I thought some of it was being silly to entertain the children, but now it is just the two of us and I am questioning so much.

I…

erm. If this isn’t a piss take, and you’re serious, have a think about what streamlining is for and what there isn’t any of on the moon…

Viviennemary · 15/04/2026 21:44

Moon landing looks very dodgy. They still can't land 50 years later

blacksax · 15/04/2026 21:44

"I wonder if I should be calling for a mental crisis unit"

No, don't bother with that. Call a divorce lawyer instead.

Pouffele · 15/04/2026 21:46

😉 @NotMajorTom

Cleo65 · 15/04/2026 21:46

Completely agree about the moon landing - completely disagree about 9/11.

Edited

The first footage taken under water looks dodgy too. They’d never designed film to work in vacuum, low gravity, high solar radioactivity, conditions.

They can land, they just don’t want to spend the money to. If the moon had oil on it, that would be a different story.

I think committing someone to a secure mental hospital would be cheaper and more final in a way….

Oh dear. This would be a serious turn off for me. If he used to be quite rational and intelligent I would worry about his mental health.

AmberTigerEyes · 15/04/2026 21:48

Or maybe I can get him to join a cult.
