Husband insists moon landings were faked and 9/11 was a false flag secret operation the Americans did to themselves

I am désolé
My husband, he tell me he really believe there has never been a moon landing and that the 9/11 attacks were faked too.
I was in New York on 9/11
He knows this
He keeps saying things that have been disproven as conspiracy theory myths.
I wonder if I should be calling for a mental crisis unit.

He is no different from anyone else who won't be shifted despite facts and reality. Look at all the Starmer lovers who know the horrifying things he has done to the UK and the extreme harm he has caused so many - and will now pretend not to get that comment because of cognitive dissonance. Look at the women on these threads who pretend that people can change sex and then bounce around deflecting using religious terms like "gender identity" when reality faces them.

Most people are driven by emotion, not facts.

There is nothing you can do about his delusions - why try? If it does not impact his ability to work and function in society leave him to it, and leave him altogether if you really can't stand it.

But I am very sorry to hear you were in new York on 9/11. That was a dark day for the whole world and my sympathies went out wholly to our American cousins.

Of course it’s good to challenge things but then listen to all the answers you’re given, read around lots and lots of different sources and then weigh it all up. The read some more.

All the most intelligent people are constantly trying to improve their knowledge and learn more and more every day. And still they know there’s more to learn

I do thank you on lots of subjects especially science.

Moon landing looks very dodgy. They still can't land 50 years later

Edited

What do you mean, they still can’t land? Do you think… that Artemis tried and couldn’t make it, like a too tight space in Tescos car park?

This is fascinating, I need to know what you mean.

Pouffele · 15/04/2026 21:41

I’m sceptical about the moon landings. Not because of TikTok but because one day I saw the photos in a newspaper and it struck me how odd the vehicle they landed in was.
It’s not exactly streamlined. Everything else humans have designed to fly are aerodynamic apart from that. How on earth did that thing lift off the moon without losing anything?

Errr....

There is no atmosphere on the moon so it didn't need to be aerodynamic or "streamlined". 😆

Are you the OP's husband?

While it is important to keep an open mind, one must also be careful not to leave it so far open that ones brain falls out.

Well that was pretty rude , there was no reason for that.

I experienced a few things as a youngster (spirit type of things I cannot logically explain away I’ve spent over 40 years trying to rationalise it) which means I think it’s good to think outside the box and not believe all the news.

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/04/2026 23:19

Not RTFT

I think a lot of people are a bit "Hmmm" about the moon landings.

Bearing in mind when it happened (the Space Race and the Cold War) and how either side winning would be such a morale boost to whichever side it was, I wouldnt be at all surprised to learn that it was faked. It would be one hell of a fake considering how many people where involved, but if there were incontrovertible proof that they had been, I wouldnt be shocked.

The same with the Trump assassination attempts, I am not saying that they were fake but it wouldnt surprise me to find that they were set up. Same with JFK now I think on it. It was all a bit convenient that the guy that was arrested was himself killed pre trial. We all know how corrupt things are at a deep level in all countries. And far more so in 60's US.

It doesnt mean that I believe it all happened, just that I wouldnt be shocked if any of it came out to be faked.

ETA I personally hold what I believe to be "healthy scepticism" about everything!

Saracen · 15/04/2026 23:20

I read an interesting advice column on how to deal with conspiracy theorists. I've found it useful. TL:DR it's pointless trying to reason, so just refuse to discuss: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/jan/10/how-to-talk-to-a-friend-about-conspiracy-theory-theories-uap-ufo-leading-questions

The problem isn’t so much the reading (although I suspect there’s quite a lot of video-watching on the toilet going on) but the inability to consider the source, and seek alternatives where necessary.

Choochoobutho · 15/04/2026 23:23

I just find conspiracy theories so far fetched and unrealistic. Like why would anyone fake the moon landing when half the world were in on it?! What would be gained? Same with 9/11

I 100% believe that both of these events genuinely happened

Hoardasurass · 15/04/2026 23:23

redboxer321 · 15/04/2026 21:59

It's possible that he's right about both.
What's worrying is that it's become a thing.
No way to prove one way or the other and nothing anyone can do about it.

The apollo 11, 14 and 15 crews each left laser ranging retroreflectors (LRRRs). Scientists and astronomers regularly fire lasers from tge earth to the moon and backs part of their research and experiments.
So yes its very easy to prove that man has been on the moon

Oh I agree it’s the history of the times that makes it all fascinating.

as for jfk. Pick a fall guy then kill them. Many years from now there may be secret records revealed which explains what was covered up.

CharleneElizabethBaltimore · 15/04/2026 23:25

what are the general top theories at the moment ?

If you take a big headline story like the moon landing and then look at the history of the era of the story, the politics, the wars and so on it makes you wonder.

Twonewcats · 15/04/2026 23:27

Everyone who thinks the moon landings were faked, where did the rockets/shuttles go?
We all watched them launch. If they didn't go.to space, where did they go (without anyone logging where they went)?

All the answers to queries re the flag flying etc are easily available. Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean the science is wrong!

titchy · 15/04/2026 23:28

BeMellowAquaSquid · 15/04/2026 22:50

I’m another one suspicious about the moon landings given no one has ever been back in the last few decades (apparently).

I haven’t been to the Algarve in decades. Pretty sure it exists though.

AInightingale · 15/04/2026 23:28

Of course Epstein is dead. He was ruthlessly murdered on the orders some very important men.
(Actually, that's one conspiracy theory I am prepared to believe.)

Manxexile · 15/04/2026 23:30

GarlicFind · 15/04/2026 22:29

First time we've flown all the way around it (dark side included).

NASA thrilled that funding for space exploration has resumed. Important to demonstrate success.

Much improved technology tested in action for the first time.

Uplifting proof of sustained international co-operation.

First time we've flown all the way around it (dark side included)...

Errrrr..... No.

Apollo 8 was the first circumnavigation of the moon including the far side (not the "dark side") at Christmas 1968

OneNewEagle · 15/04/2026 23:14

Well I’m pretty old nowadays so I assume you are much younger than me. That means zero moon landings in my lifetime. So it’s a good subject to debate.

I don't think there's much to debate, but either way, debating is entirely different to saying things that just aren't true, like "we haven't been back since".

ProfessorBinturong · 15/04/2026 23:31

OnTheBoardwalk · 15/04/2026 22:31

I must admit I’m starting to feel sceptical on the moon landings based on how much technology and effort it’s taken to go round the moon

i don’t wear a tin hat but can someone explain to me how they managed to launch back off the moon and what they did for petrol (or whatever a spaceship uses)

Imagine you have enough petrol in your car to drive 50 miles. You drive to the beach 10 miles away. You park in the car park. When you want to drive back home at the end of the day, is there still some petrol left in your tank to start the car and drive home?

OnTheBoardwalk · 15/04/2026 23:32

HowardTJMoon · 15/04/2026 22:47

It takes technology to do to the moon. More than that, though, it takes a shit load of money. The Apollo missions in the late 60s / early 70s cost an incredible amount of money. In the 70s there was a recession so there was less money available and what there was went to developing the Space Shuttle instead as that was of use for both science and military purposes so could get a bigger slice of the budget.

Nope don’t get it. Yes it’s loads of money but all the talk of potential resources on the moon no one has been that there. Nope

Space ships run on candyfloss not petrol you see.

The first moon landings were in the 60s when that wasn't a problem. All the healthy eating stuff has made candyfloss a rare commodity these days but years ago kids ate it 24/7. Candyfloss being an ultra-light substance would get pulled up from earth's atmosphere and fall like pink snow on the moon. The first astronauts just foraged it to fuel the trip home and BLAST OFF.

Nowadays, thanks to healthy eating there's no candyfloss on the moon. Sad. That's why the recent trip took so much technology. They have to have an on board candyfloss machine now and getting that to work in zero gravity has been a real mare.

You ok hun?
