Do you have a "treat" everyday and if so what is it?

Currently trying to ignore the lure of a digestive biscuit to dip in my tea. Generally don't eat biscuits but we have them leftover from a cheesecake recipe. I think I do generally have some kind of "treat" everyday though. The things I perceive as a treat might be a small chocolate, a biscuit, some crisps, an alcoholic drink etc. I think I need to reframe my thinking so that something healthier becomes my treat.

What do you consider your "treats"?

A shop-bought coffee at some point and a glass or two of wine in the evening

I'm being good and avoiding sugar and UPFs. I've been having Greek yoghurt with sour cherries (frozen from Lidl) every evening. Apparently they are an excellent source of natural melatonin so worth trying if you struggle to sleep.

I don’t think of any food as a treat. It’s just food but I eat chocolate most days, or some kind of savoury snack.

I’ll be honest I treat myself to whatever I like because most days right now my children r so badly behaved, I’m alone with them 90% of the week on disturbed sleep so to just have a small nice thing keeps me off the edge

An ice cold can of diet coke. My favourite daily treat.

Another vote for this

2-3 tru fru frozen chocolate strawberries with a hot drink in the evening. Only recently discovered them and amazingly good!

BlueandWhitePorcelain · 14/04/2026 19:50

I have a mug of coffee with sugar from the cafetière at breakfast. It’s the highlight of my day, because I’m not supposed to drink caffeine! (I don’t like instant coffee anyway)

IDespairOfTheHumanRace · 14/04/2026 19:54

Possibly not what you had in mind OP, but when I get in from work I will sit in my greenhouse, with a cup of tea, to unwind for a while and have a lovely rollup to go with it ( okay, two, in quick succession!). Not healthy I know, but, heck, life is too short to deny oneself the odd vice, or indulgence, depending upon which way you view it.

Bettyblue22 · 14/04/2026 20:12

Yes chocolate every night with a cup of tea. . I’m going to buy some mini bars as I can then still have a treat each night but be more controlled about how much. I do run a lot but not enough to compensate for my sweet tooth.

Myoldbear · 14/04/2026 20:26

I have 6 minstrels after lunch every day.

satinbrew · 14/04/2026 20:29

In the evening after all the chores are done I usually have a cup of tea and a chocolate or two or a biscuit, just whatever we have in. I also take some time out to read for half an hour or so when I can with a cuppa and that feels like a nice treat.

whoputallofthatthere · 14/04/2026 20:41

Yes. Today I've had 2 chocolate digestives, a creme egg and a packet of crisps. I know I should probably cut back on the sugar, but I also eat plenty of healthy foods too so I can't get too worked up about it.

I always love these threads where people are having two blueberries after dinner or whatever 😅

lebin · 14/04/2026 21:08

I have 1-2 treats a day. I had two chocolate digestives with a tea this afternoon and have just had a malteaser bunny watching TV.

Greypanda86 · 14/04/2026 21:30

Yes I have half a twirl (one finger) everyday, I’m currently in a calorie deficit and losing weight I just count it in my calories

Mumoftwoboysaged4and5 · 14/04/2026 21:55

I have two sweet treats a day, one at 10.30 and one at 3.30. Usually the morning one is homemade cake and the afternoon one is chocolate.

Itsthelittlethingss · 14/04/2026 22:02

I buy a nice cup of coffee from a coffee shop most days, then go for a walk and drink it. It’s probably costing me a fortune but I’m not going to add it all up because that would ruin it for me, and I’ve decided it’s worth it because I really enjoy it and I had few other expensive habits!

Super70Nana · 14/04/2026 22:17

A two finger Kit Kat every evening as my treat for staying on course with healthy eating. Only 104 calories and i

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/04/2026 22:23

I just don’t think on food in this way - unless it’s giving a treat to the cat. Tonight I had an M&S peanut butter chocolate Easter thing after dinner, but just saw it as part of the meal. Things like buying a bunch of flowers or a long bubble bath are my “rewards”.

heartsinvisiblefury · 14/04/2026 22:41

A mini Morrisons Mars bar (an Apollo) - best part of my day!

Firesidechatter · 14/04/2026 13:36

No and part of the issue is calling it a treat. Just view it as food like any other, not a reward.

Its funny you say that as I was reading the comments wondering if somthing was wrong with me as its all just food to me and I just eat things when I want them 😅

StolenTeapots · 14/04/2026 22:48

Sometimes for a treat I suck a grain if rice while at work. It really helps me relax.

canonlydoblue · 14/04/2026 23:14

I have a treat multiple times a day. But I'm 21 weeks pregnant, and have been pregnant or breastfeeding for 15 years without a break so I think I've earned my treats.

brandy x

Angelasweetcheeks · 14/04/2026 23:28

An interesting variety then! I do also have 2 coffees with milk and cream every morning which I definitely consider a treat but I looked forward to them every day so I don't care.

For me, I think with the other treats there is always an element of guilt which somehow takes the pleasure off it. I am very well informed about nutrition - cook everything from scratch and avoid UPF. Sometimes that knowledge is no fun. I find it hard to enjoy food anymore so when I know I'm eating something which isn't great nutritionally, I do try and savour it.

Gosh I can't believe how sensible you all are. I definitely have something sweet a day, maybe a cupcake or brownie I have baked with my little one, or at the moment it's mini eggs or a big chunk of Easter egg. In the summer it will be magnums! I don't really think anything of it, I thought most people did the same, but I do know I have a very sweet tooth.
