Do you have a "treat" everyday and if so what is it?

Currently trying to ignore the lure of a digestive biscuit to dip in my tea. Generally don't eat biscuits but we have them leftover from a cheesecake recipe. I think I do generally have some kind of "treat" everyday though. The things I perceive as a treat might be a small chocolate, a biscuit, some crisps, an alcoholic drink etc. I think I need to reframe my thinking so that something healthier becomes my treat.

What do you consider your "treats"?

An ice cold can of diet coke. My favourite daily treat.

HollyhockDays · 14/04/2026 12:20

An aero mousse after dinner. I’ve found them to be the nicest and 89 calories.

No, I don't really have treats and certainly not daily. I recently bought a pack of rice cakes with dark chocolate on and they were surprisingly yummy and felt like a treat. I had some lovely passionfruit last week which felt like a treat.

I don't. It took me two years to lose all the weight and not be obese any more.
I was fat for 30 years and hated every minute of it.
I don't see food as "treats" any more I see it as only fuel.
I've weaned myself off sugar and make all my own food from scratch.
If I want a treat I'll buy a scarf or some clothing or go for a walk in the woods or do some gardening which I love, maybe meet up with a friend for coffee.
It seems a bit too much but I completely wasted my life and opportunities being fat and I'm never going back there again.
I know myself well, one treat will lead to two then three like it always used to.

AmyByTheTrain · 14/04/2026 12:24

Yes, my daily treat is a thermos of coffee in the morning and another in the afternoon.

Chocolatecoffeecup · 14/04/2026 12:26

I eat chocolate daily but I am trying to cut down. I also like an Appletizer, a hot chocolate, a nice yogurt, bonne maman chocolate mousse.

Not sure it's a "treat" but I've started chewing gum and it helps me not reach for other stuff.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 14/04/2026 12:34

Yes, but my treats can be a cup of tea made with tea leaves rather than a tea bag. It’s all about elevating the every day experience for me xx

I have something every day, I log it in my calorie app tho (mostly)

Wow well done that’s amazing!

A cup of tea, sitting in the garden listening and watching the wild birds ❤️ or dark chocolate orange coated almonds..... Yummy!! Problem is I can't stop eating them,!

I do this. I lost 7 stone last year. I didn't cut anything out but use Nutracheck for calorie tracking still.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 14/04/2026 12:39

I have a small bar of dark chocolate most days which I see as a 'treat'.
If I ever have a coffee out (which is probably about 2-3 times a month) I see that as a treat too.

WinterFrogs · 14/04/2026 12:40

Sometimes there are threads on hear about words people hate, and I've just realised that the word 'treat' makes me shudder 😂 Not even sure why.

But I do eat something that's bad for me most days.

I think treat is something my ex mother in law used to say.

Waitingfordoggo · 14/04/2026 12:43

I eat cake most days. I am slim and exercise loads. I feel no shame about my daily cake.

FallenNight · 14/04/2026 12:46

Two fancy chocolates every evening. DH and I stock up on nice boxes of chocolates at every opportunity then ration them!

On a previous treat thread people were suggesting little things they buy themselves, off that I got some apricot scented essie nail oil. Stopping work for a couple of minutes to massage that into my nails breaks the day nicely.

I too would like some healthy treats. Like herbal tea in the garden listening to the birds. But I am time poor, so I choose chocolate instead!

dizzydizzydizzy · 14/04/2026 12:48

Cappuccino (home made) and a square or dark chocolate.

Goatymum · 14/04/2026 12:52

I make all my food from scratch too for health reasons so a treat for me is:

A couple of Medjool dates

a homemade muffin/cake/biscuit depending on what I’ve baked that week

Also like walking in the nice weather(!) - makes me feel good!

in the ‘old days’ pre my digestive woes I’d say a cup
of coffee (nespresso or bought if out) and a cake (sometimes homemade but not as healthy as I make them now).

Escapetothecatshome · 14/04/2026 13:07

I have a small Kipling brownie they are tiny, but definitely feel like a treat to me. It’s the only sweet thing I let myself have a day. I’m not great with sugar but seem okay with these.

ReignOfError · 14/04/2026 13:14

Not daily, but once a week I have a fresh cream cake of some kind. It used to be a reward for lugging a week’s worth of shopping for a family of four up an evil Pennine hill, nowadays it’s for no better reason than it makes me happy.

writingsonthewall · 14/04/2026 13:18

Jesus this has made me realise how unhealthy I am compared to others Confused

TheyGrewUp · 14/04/2026 13:20

Yes, stolen time on MNet :)

Oh we do this too.

We treat ourselves to nice boxes of chocs and then have 2 each of an evening. They really do feel like a little treat at the end of the working day.

I think everything is okay in moderation.

I eat mainly healthily but never deprive myself of something nice if I fancy it.

GinJeanie · 14/04/2026 13:24

I'm dieting so am trying to avoid processed sugar and bread.
A favourite "treat" for me is some Pack'd frozen strawberries/raspberries/blueberries with a 2-3 heaped spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt. If you take the berries straight from the freezer and add the yoghurt, stir it together and then leave it a few minutes - it's ALMOST like ice cream! I'd have this as part of breakfast though. No snacks atm 😔

Girlintheframe · 14/04/2026 13:34

Every day! Usually a Bliss bar or a couple of pieces of dark chocolate also at least 1 options hot chocolate at night

Firesidechatter · 14/04/2026 13:36

No and part of the issue is calling it a treat. Just view it as food like any other, not a reward.
