Old enough to remember whole years in which I barely thought about the American president.

“He’s somebody that needs oil. We don’t. He’s somebody I get along with very well — just wrote me a beautiful letter,”

“He responded to a letter that I wrote because I had heard that China is giving weapons to — I mean, you seeing it all over the place — to Iran. I wrote him a letter asking him not to do that and he wrote me a letter saying that essentially he’s not doing that.”

So we had Kim writing him letters, and now it's Uncle Xi.

Also from that interview:

BARTIROMO: We just heard from the FBI there was a major cyber attack from China. What response is under consideration?
^^
TRUMP: We do it to them. They do it to us, we do it to them
^^
BARTIROMO: So it's not gonna be addressed?
^^
TRUMP: Maria, I'll address things, but it is what it is. China is China.

And:

a very confused Trump: "Look at Justice Ginsburg. She was not exactly a young woman. The election was taken. They had a Democrat who could've appointed a liberal justice. About two minutes after the election, she went out." (Ginsburg died in September 2020, when Trump was president.)

Has he forgotten how the repugs blocked Obama from appointing justices, and that Biden could not just replace them ?

I honestly don’t think he’s making this up - rather he’s being fed shite by Miller et al. Claiming to be from Xi/Kim etc.
He’s too thick to know he’s being played.

Oh and whoever asked about “why more troops”? Occam’s razor - ground assault.

Have to say I am slightly confused over the King's visit. He had to denounce his own brother and make him homeless for his country but yet has to go over and fawn over a man who did the exact same thing?

Andrew isn't homeless. I'm pretty sure Charles removed the titles and re-homed him to save the monarchy!

PickAChew · 15/04/2026 13:40

Andrew is far from homeless.

Aye he's not claiming Universal credit anytime soon.
Nose still in the trough🐷🐷

zantez · 15/04/2026 13:55

And I doubt A will face charges of any sort any time soon either. Mental elf M'Lud.

I agree that the whole farce was for the optics, to save the RF at all costs. When Did They Know etc..

dapsnotplimsolls · 15/04/2026 13:58

I can see both sides of the argument in terms of Charles going but, on the whole, I think it's better that he goes. Let's face it, Chump is infinitely suggestible so Charles might be able to persuade him to calm down a bit. For a few hours, anyway.

I'm not sure of that one. The optics will be terrible for both the UK and RF, and Trump will spin it to his advantage. As more European countries distance themselves from what the WH Regime is doing in the ME, we should rethink the visit, but I acknowledge that I don't know what happening, if anything, behind the scenes.

logicisall · 15/04/2026 14:22

Melania now has her very own Lego video. 👀

UnluckyWalnut · 15/04/2026 14:24

Why is Trump declaring that the war is almost over being treated as a serious headline. The man talks out of his arsehole. The war was supposedly won weeks ago FFS 🤬

Wipeywipey · 15/04/2026 14:39

He is also declaring "China is very happy" that US Navy is keeping the strait open. Iran now threatening shipping if their blockade continues. The fact the world knows everything was flowing freely until US turned up seems to be passing Trump by somewhat.

Red sea threat was a few hours ago I think.

logicisall · 15/04/2026 14:57

I meant carrying out the threat.

Ahh. Personally I don't think they have many missiles left. But the threat plus one or two missiles fired will be enough. And they will probably be able to make the crude ones ?

My one brain cell has been working overtime after reading this article and wondering how many countries will follow Japan's lead. I looked at the the ex Soviet countries drilling for oil in the Caspian Sea and noticed that Iran also has a coastline in the Caspian Sea

TOKYO (IPS) – As tensions surrounding Iran deepen and uncertainty spreads across global energy markets, Japan is once again confronting a structural weakness: its heavy dependence on Middle Eastern oil.|
For decades, Japan has relied on crude imports from a region repeatedly shaken by war, confrontation and instability. With the stability of the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters once again under threat, Tokyo is accelerating efforts to diversify both supply sources and transport routes. In that process, Kazakhstan has emerged as an increasingly important partner.

Japan’s growing interest in Central Asia was not triggered directly by the current Iran crisis. In December 2025, Japan hosted the “Central Asia plus Japan” summit in Tokyo and adopted the Tokyo Declaration. There, strengthening critical mineral supply chains and diversifying transport routes were set out as strategic priorities.
That framework has since taken on even greater urgency.

One important element is the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the so-called Middle Corridor. Connecting Central Asia and Europe without passing through Russia, this route has drawn attention as a new transport channel for energy and strategic goods. In an era shaped by war, sanctions, shipping disruptions and intensifying rivalry among major powers, such corridors have become increasingly important for Japan.
Kazakhstan stands at the center of this calculation.

Japanese energy interests are already present in the Caspian region. INPEX, a Japanese company, holds stakes in major oil projects including Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field and Azerbaijan’s ACG field. Crude from these fields could serve as an alternative supply source to Middle Eastern oil for Japan. In addition, routes through the Caspian and Mediterranean can avoid the Strait of Hormuz, although that means longer transport times and higher shipping costs.

Japan and Kazakhstan Draw Closer as Iran Crisis Reshapes Energy and Security Priorities - Toward A Nuclear Free World

With instability around Iran exposing Japan’s dependence on Middle Eastern oil, Tokyo is deepening ties with Kazakhstan in search of more resilient supply chains, alternative energy routes and renewed cooperation on nuclear disarmament. By Katsuhiro As...

I think it's indicative of how little faith we have in Congress actually successfully "doing something".

I ,too, saw the report of Raskin's proposal and thought "oh, OK... Next!"

But maybe it will stir more serious debate about Trump's mental capacity (à la Biden) at least?

I agree it's not likely to go anywhere. But I think that the Dems need to flood Congress with measures for impeachment or removal via the 25th, even if they get no further than submitting a proposal on the floor. They're good reminders of Scrotus' words and actions that make him unfit for office. And maybe at some point they'll catch the GOP in an uproar about him and something will 'stick'.

I know. Wishful thinking.
