What have you done in the real world that MN disapproves of?

As per the title.... what have you done in the real word that would have Mumsnetter's frothing at the mouth?

I will start.
Someone reversed into my (parked) car and we sorted it out ourselves (without informing insurance!😲) with them paying us to get it fixed (which has now been done).
Gosh..... aren't we naughty!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nothing.

I can't accurately compare myself to everyone on the site but unlike (almost) everyone on this thread, I AM "just like the other girls", and can't be bothered to muster up the internalised misogyny to insist otherwise.

Fizbosshoes · 10/04/2026 17:56

Eat carbs several times a day
Use my ensuite bathroom for all bodily functions a toilet is designed for
Speak to my neighbours
Socialise with work colleagues
Find school WhatsApp groups useful

Dollymylove · 10/04/2026 17:56

I had a relationship with someone more than 6 months older than me. Also had a relationship with someone more than 6 months YOUNGER than me .
A cardinal sin on MN 🤣

I think there is non MN approval and then breaking the law…..

I'm not remotely surprised that someone that did or still does breed XL bullies was also happy to drive illegally. If you or I were to visualise this person, I think we can probably guess what they look like!! 😅

GoodkneeBadKnee · 10/04/2026 17:56

Had kids before I married their dad. Changed my name after marriage.
Loved my MiL.

My friend worked in an upmarket dress shop, I once went in tried a dress on, she packed it for me and didn't charge. Then, a week later, she wanted a dress of her own, I went in, picked it out, she packed it for me, once again didn't charge.

It was a long time ago, that's why I am admitting to it now.....and I did love that dress.😆

I don’t understand why she didn’t just steal her own dress?

Ihateboris · 10/04/2026 18:02

I wear very high heels

Ihateboris · 10/04/2026 18:04

Ohhhwell · 10/04/2026 17:52

Living alone and not having kids.
I have been told on MN that i dont know what love is because i dont have kids.
And living alone cost more.
And loads more.

Same! Apparently I'll never ever be fulfilled in life 🙃

You will if you have a cat.

I don't request measurements of clothes that I'm buying off Vinted for £1 or £2.

I don't batch cook

I don't know what Whitsun is

I wear skinny jeans

I’m enraged by people on Vinted who insist on measurements for cheap stuff, just ignore them!

I spoke to a man today in the park. A total stranger. He was sitting on a park bench having a rest from his jogging and my shoelace had come undone. So I said 'good morning', smiled and sat down to do it up.

'Good morning,' he replied, 'it looks like it's going to be another nice day today.'
Then I asked him if he was just starting or finishing his run and laughed. He told me he was training for the London Marathon at the end of the month and we chatted about running, etc for about 15 minutes.

I know they'll be lots of women on MN who will be horrified and aghast. I imagine pearls won't just be clutched, but pulverised. I didn't feel at all violated!
Or in danger, or threatened, or anything except good cheer. He was around 32 and I am 59 so I don't think anyone would have thought it was a pick up in the park or even anything remotely sexual. It didn't even enter my mind. Not every interaction between a man and a woman is sexual and is often quite mundane.

On the way home I waved and spoke to another man. My neighbour. He was on his way to work.

Since I am revealing this, I'll confess that I spoke to another strange man while I was waiting for the bus, the day before. I also spoke to some children as I wasn't sure if they were getting on the bus. One of the children was a boy, male.

I'm quite chatty. It's a South London thing.

You sound like me. I chat to everyone !

Toilet brushes in every loo.
McDonalds once a week, every week.
In receipt of Carers Allowance.

I don’t understand why she didn’t just steal her own dress?

In those days there could have been random bag searches as staff left.

Myblueclematis · 10/04/2026 18:20

I don't mind if the supermarket cashier passes a few remarks to me when I'm putting my shopping through and I also chat to anyone in the queue if someone speaks to me.

I am also never offended if I am referred to as a lady.

But you are working, you spend a minimum of 35 hours a week actively working to care for someone. I don't think I have ever heard anyone here have a problem with carers allowance, because it is very different from other benefits that they like to moan about.

JadeSeahorse · 10/04/2026 18:26

DH and I never lived together before we married. ( Would have been severely frowned upon in those days in our area.)

We called our DD a name which is considered dreadful on Mnet. (DD was born years prior to Mnet existing and everyone in our world seems to think DD's name is gorgeous.)

DH and I have always had separate finances. (Joint accounts weren't a thing back in the 70's but I have total access to DH's accounts and he to mine. Still works great for us after 47 years 😁)

NotMyRealAccount · 10/04/2026 18:35

I'm quite partial to UPF and can't be bothered with salads of any size.

Lucyweeks · 10/04/2026 18:39

I had a salad last night with some very stinky brie.

Talk to my neighbours and discuss issues in a civil manner.

Support LGBT+ rights.

Hang washing on the line.

We have a hybrid car.

Work as a civil servant.

Love that my neighbours are culturally different and I work with people from different cultures.

In fairness it’s not the LGB part many of us have an issue with!

XenoBitch · 10/04/2026 18:50

I am on UC.
I have a toilet brush.
I don't change my bedding daily.
