As per the title.... what have you done in the real word that would have Mumsnetter's frothing at the mouth?

I will start.
Someone reversed into my (parked) car and we sorted it out ourselves (without informing insurance!😲) with them paying us to get it fixed (which has now been done).
Gosh..... aren't we naughty!🤣🤣🤣🤣

We are retired and don't do childcare.

buttercupdaisyyellow · 10/04/2026 14:26

Had expensive parties for my children

Shouted at my children to get them to behave.

Avoided church hall type playgroups in favour of baby sensory / swimming classes.

I wasn’t married when we had dc1; we got married between dc1 and 2.

Had my children over the age of 40

Myblueclematis · 10/04/2026 14:27

I let workmen use my loo and I don't have a fit of the vapours or clutch my pearls if they have a poo! It's a toilet, it's what it's for. 😆

I throw away the roast chicken carcass without making stock or soup.

So do I.
I just can't be bothered and it doesn't even make nice stock anyway.

Leave my front door unlocked and am happy for family and friends to pop in without an appointment.
Wash the cats bowls in the dishwasher.
Wear crocs out and about.
Wear Skinny jeans.
Sent my kids to the nearest local schools without angsting over Ofsted and exam results.

You don't know what a relief it is to see someone else who just sends their children to the geographically nearest schools without hysterical wibblings over Ofsted reports. Schools are mostly much of a muchness.

Let DS walk home from school on his own from age 8.

Now go along with him to university open days.

So I'm both under protective and over involved 🤷‍♀️

MasculineProviderEnergy · 10/04/2026 14:31

I think vapes are a fab invention, and use one. Also a cannabis user. Dungaree wearer

Toddlerteaplease · 10/04/2026 14:32

Let male workman/ plumbers into my house. I have never had any one be disrespectful or untidy.

Squirrelchops1 · 10/04/2026 14:33

I dont feed the 5000 from 1 chicken.
I use bleach daily in my loo
I have a toilet brush
My DH has called me a cunt and I'm still with him.

My kids were playing out unsupervised from a young age. I'd stick my head in and out and know where they were. Dd could spend 5 hours in the ditch making a fort or playing house with friends. I often saw her dangling from a tree. Yes I worried she would run off or be lured away, yes I worried she would fall but these worries I kept to myself because I believe that a child's entitlement to free play and the well being that it brings trumps a mothers need for control or need to satisfy their anxieties.

I parked outside someone's house once on a public road.

And in 1983 as a 5 year old I bounced a ball in my own garden.

One of my children has the same name as their cousin.

HawkersWest · 10/04/2026 14:34

I have finger and hand tattoos, work in a professional role in a corporate structure.
We have an open door policy...come on over. Want to stay, a couple of days/week/s, no problem.

Berlinlover · 10/04/2026 14:34

I’m in an age gap relationship and I park in the parent and child parking spots (I’m child free).

flapjackfairy · 10/04/2026 14:35

live in a rubbish area on a main road with no driveway. I hang my head in shame every day over it !

louderthan · 10/04/2026 14:35

Used bleach
Accepted a large sum of money from a parent
Anticipated an inheritance
Had many tattoos
Never learned to drive

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 10/04/2026 14:36

Been friends with a trans woman, without calling them he and being terrified 🤣

Same here, though I live in Scotland where most people send their kids to the school they're in the catchment for anyway.

Other things...
I don't change my bedsheets every week

I don't assume that everyone whose behaviour I find challenging is a "narcissist"

I bought a house that isn't detached and I have a low mortgage

LassiKopiano24 · 10/04/2026 14:36

I don’t hate my MIL or my stepmother
I answer the door
I don’t hate tradesmen
I think Boden clothes and sack dresses are hideous
One chicken and a massive salad don’t feed my family for a week

HotChocolateBubbleBath · 10/04/2026 14:37

My daughter has the middle name May. I’m sorry people, there are reasons for it, good reasons, but I won’t even tell you what they are, because I don’t care what anyone thinks!!

Booohooonc · 10/04/2026 14:37

Dreamstosell · 10/04/2026 14:00

I leave my front door unlocked all day if I’m. Family just open the door and come in without even phoning or texting first 😁

Same here ! I smoke in the back garden and occasionally have a few glasses of wine during daylight 😂

Pepperedpickles · 10/04/2026 14:37

All sorts of things.

Toilet brushes.
Happy to refer to trans people by their preferred pronouns. Happy to have unisex toilets with separate cubicles.
Take my dc out of school for holidays and ring them in sick.
Receive PIP at the highest rates long term and have a motability car but don’t appear obviously disabled.
Claim universal credit.
Dc (now aged 14 and 23) have always had fairly unlimited screen time but maybe I’ve been lucky as they generally self regulate and enjoy being outdoors a lot anyway.
Been engaged 3 times and married twice.

aintnospringchicken · 10/04/2026 14:39

Let my DC play outside with their friends unsupervised when they were younger.
Let DC have sleepovers when still at primary school.
Allowed DC to camp out in the garden with friends(they knew they could come back into the house and either sleep in the living room or their bedroom if they wanted to).
Said DC are now in their 30s so maybe things have changed now.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 10/04/2026 14:40

Not given enough of a shit what the other posters of mumsnet think about anything to even be able to think of something?

Ipollita · 10/04/2026 14:43

I love and value my friends.

I don’t and have never wanted to drive.

I love a little mooch around B&M.

I love weddings, birthdays and all kinds of celebrations and get super dressed up to attend.
