When did you start to get grey hair?

I’m mid 40’s now and I’m definitely getting more grey hairs, a few around my temples but they are gradually creeping to the rest of my hair. They stand out as I have naturally quite dark hair. I have been pulling them out as I see them but baldness is a potential if I keep doing that! 😂

I found my first one at 17

I’m 60 next week. I only started to go grey a couple of years back. I have one streak at the front divided by my parting. I actually love it, I think it looks cool and planned like I got a hairdresser to do it. But it’s totally natural. My natural colour is dark blonde (mouse 😂) / light brown

You are lucky with that silver fox look

I started to get greys early 30s and I love it which is why I’ve never dyed my hair

RoyalPenguin · 06/04/2026 12:33

40 - the odd one before then, but that's when it became obvious.

Early 30s. I dyed it for about 15 years and then got fed up because it meant frequent trips to the hairdresser (which I hate because the bright light and noise annoys me). I'm late 50s now and silver with a few brown hairs.

ReneePaloma · 06/04/2026 12:35

Not got there yet. I’m looking forward to it though, I think grey hair is beautiful.

foxinasnowstorm · 06/04/2026 12:35

28!!!

I was 16. It's shit isn't it 😅

Sunshineandrainbow · 06/04/2026 12:37

40ish, now I am 49 and still pulling them out. Really need to think about a colour I can do at home. I am not ready to leave it or the cost of colour at the salon.

Pollpoll · 06/04/2026 12:38

Mid 50s.
I used to be blonde as a child, then dark blonde from my 20s. I noticed I didn't need highlights any more because there was a mix of white hair.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/04/2026 12:38

44 and I have one grey. My sister is younger and has loads.

unlikelysuspect · 06/04/2026 12:39

17!

Legolaslady · 06/04/2026 12:41

55 and only just noticed one the other day

MirandaWest · 06/04/2026 12:42

Mid 30s I think. Am 50 now and pretty sure it would be all grey if I didn’t dye it.

HobnobsChoice · 06/04/2026 12:44

First one I found was when I was 32. I was pregnant with my daughter and we were moving house. Remember pulling it out sat in the front of the hire van.

My sister had a patch of grey at the nape of her neck from age 10.

IjustbelieveinMe · 06/04/2026 12:45

53 and still waiting!

W0tnow · 06/04/2026 12:45

Late 20s. It’s concentrated at the front. I’ve been asked if I color it deliberately like that. I’m mid 50s now and I like it.

DrPrunesqualer · 06/04/2026 12:46

It would be interesting to know

no pressure wims

If late development of grey hair is related to
Original hair colour ( or is this scientifically a ridiculous question 🫤 )

My hair was black and greys started early 30s

DiaryofWimpy · 06/04/2026 12:46

50s just a few here and there nothing major

IjustbelieveinMe · 06/04/2026 12:45

53 and still waiting!

My mil is mid 80s and hardly has any. My husband is 56 and has just a few strands. It’s wild how much it varies between person to person!

Fgfgfg · 06/04/2026 12:50

55/56. Now 60s and still only have a few. My mum's 80, dyes her brown hair blonde and brown roots still show through.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 06/04/2026 12:55

All the women on my mother's side go grey very young. I was pure white by 28. I dye it a medium brown.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 06/04/2026 12:56

I'm 50 and only have the odd grey hair.

Crikeyalmightey · 06/04/2026 12:59

40ish. I had dark blonde hair and got a "hairband" effect in the front first. It's gradually got wider and now in 60s is 90% silvery blonde. I feel very fortunate it is more silvery beige in tone than grey. 👱‍♀️
