6k pcm for a rather lovely 5 bed 4 bath new build in a naice part of town. The others around 4-5k were for over-converted 10-12 bed places in student-ville, that would probably originally be generous 4/5 bed places.

VivienneDelacroix · 02/04/2026 22:28

£6995 pcm. For a five-bed.

Badoingyface · 02/04/2026 22:30

£32,500 pcm - for 2 beds, 2 baths, 1 reception 😂😂😂😂😂

£12k for a rather fabulous 7 bed period house with a pool. By the time you get down to my ENTIRE take home wage it’s getting decidedly ordinary. Does include a six bed student house that’s really far too nice for students.

Snap

its been up for rather a long time

Years. I'm assuming it's overpriced although it is absolutely lovely. The main bathroom is bigger than my living room!

Listlostlast · 02/04/2026 22:35

Only two within five miles, the dearer is £1500. 4 bedroom bungalow, incredibly dated and tired looking, but with a big garden. It wouldn’t be for me because it’s on the only ‘busy’ road in the village! The other is £995 for a three bed semi detached, same village and a much nicer spot!

ABC0375056 · 02/04/2026 22:53

£1700 for a basic looking family home on a very average built about 20 years ago estate.

CatherinedeBourgh · 02/04/2026 22:59

35k per month, it's got a bed with a mirror canopy 😂

Some of these have got to be money laundering, surely? No one with the kind of financial sense to earn 80k PCM would have the financial negligence to spend that on rent.

It’s not unusual for ultra high net worth individuals to rent rather than buy - aside from the obvious benefit of avoiding maintenance of a property and the flexibility that renting offers, it allows cash to stay invested or for multiple businesses to be bought. It also avoids staggeringly high stamp duty. Loans are secured against business ownerships, and these loans are then not taxed in the same way as income and are used to pay rent. The ultra wealthy often have cash tied up in businesses and use loans for spending - it sounds counterintuitive to us mere mortals but actually makes financial sense at a certain level.

That makes sense, apart from the fact the £3k rent place near me is in a rough as toast area. And I viewed the exact same house to buy 15 years ago, and it was on the market for £130k. Properties in the same road are up for rent for about £1k now.

BooksAndHooks · 03/04/2026 07:02

£73,667 five bedrooms is the most expensive. I wouldn’t rent it, nice but not nice enough for that sort of money and only one more bedroom.

the cheapest that isn’t shared accommodation is £900 per month studio flat.

£5k for a 7 bed new build in a village. Lots of glass, grand design vibes. Wouldn't live there as there is nothing in the village apart from a main road that cuts right through it.

FlatErica · 03/04/2026 07:22

£3650 per month and of course not!

FlatErica · 03/04/2026 07:27

£368,333 and that’s my final offer! It’s within 5 miles of my postcode.

25 k a month for a seven bedroom house. It is beautiful and has a pool, library, gym and cinema room and is in a very nice part of Poole.

theres quite a few one bed flats to rent for £600 a month local as well.

Kirbert2 · 03/04/2026 07:41

Highest - £2,300. detached, 4 beds, 3 baths, 2 reception rooms.
Lowest - £425. flat, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 reception room.

Lowest house - £500. terraced, 1 bed, 1 bath, 1 reception room.
Lowest family house - £625. terraced, 2 beds, 1 bath, 1 reception room.

TinyMouseTheatre · 03/04/2026 08:09

That’s a bit of a weird one. If I look on Zoopla it’s almost £1.8k but if I look on Rightmove there are lots more available and the highest is just under £4k.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 03/04/2026 09:36

I looked on Rightmove-
11 properties
highest is a lovely 3 bed detached farmhouse, £1850 a month
lowest is a 2 bed terrace in a town, £850 a month.

SeriouslyStressed · 03/04/2026 11:09

£3500 pcm.

would I live there? Probably not . Westbury isn’t great. I’ll stay in Frome! But Frome often has a shortage of rented properties.
