I know nobody really knows but....what do YOU think will happen with Iran war?

What do you think will happen with the war in Iran? Will it burn out soon, go on forever, turn into WW3?

I feel so stressed by it and am stuck in a doomscroll loop which I know is never going to help. The impact on the UK is grim, it limits where else we could consider moving to and I'm just utterly fed up tbh.

It will rumble on for years just like every other ridiculous war that was started for no good reason (see Iraq, Afghanistan).

I don’t think WW3 means the same thing as it used to.

I think it will be disruptive because of the oil situation but I try to be thankful that it’s not me living in the middle of the war zone.

the80sweregreat · 31/03/2026 11:46

I’ve no idea , but I’m watching the news and the presenter for the bbc ‘ business news’ segment sounds really down. They were talking about the aviation fuel and if the airlines collapse because of the lack of fuel , that is yet another stress on the economy ( as well as the fact that all our bills are raising by 300 a year on average and everything else going on)
Food prices will go up , utilities too. It’s just very depressing isn’t it :( Not sure where it’ll all end.

Cosmication · 31/03/2026 11:47

I think Trump will find a way to pull out. Today or tomorrow. Taking Kharg island sounds like it would be suicide. I am counting on TACO. He cares about the markets and his popularity and prolonging this war will only make those things worse.

Blueskies3 · 31/03/2026 11:49

I'm worried. Maybe overly anxious. I'm in Australia and the prices for fuel have gone up dramatically...then there's the flow on food, etc. How will people afford the basics, but yet this is better than being worried about your house being bombed. I hope it will be over soon, but it hasn't shown signs yet

Sadcafe · 31/03/2026 11:50

Personally think the orange one has made a massive miscalculation on how easy it would be to dismantle the Iranian regime, they clearly aren’t about to comply with his demands and will carry on attacking and disrupting oil and gas supplies in the area , either through bombing or making the Straits of Hormuz too difficult to navigate. At some point, the US will either have to launch a costly ground assault or back down, obviously whilst somehow making it out to be a victory

Hoonsandtunes · 31/03/2026 11:51

I'm privy to conversations with government and even if the war stopped today, the ripples of effect would still be felt in 18 months (availability and cost of stuff) is what I'm interpreting from those conversations. I think this war will continue throughout 2026 and that there will start to be food and resource scrambles which will result in angry people taking to the streets/anarchy. I don't (hopefully) think it'll be WWIII and I don't think people of age will be conscripted, but it'll be tough going for the foreseeable

dizzydizzydizzy · 31/03/2026 11:52

I think we’ll have rapid inflation and a recession. Everything will become more expensive. Air fares and fuel will become unaffordable. Interesti rates will increase. Stock markets will be volatile.

Government will spend more on defense.

we’ll her more asylum seekers from the Middle East.

poor countries will suffer far far more than the UK.

ChefsKisser · 31/03/2026 11:54

The whole thing just feels soul destroying its a never ending carousel of crap!

LassiKopiano24 · 31/03/2026 11:56

I think it will go on for a few years until Trump leaves office, no regime change in Iran.

Trump won’t ever stop the war without “winning” he’ll run the USA into the ground before he admits defeat. Iran won’t surrender either.

1000’s and 1000’s of innocent civilians will die, people across the world will be hit financially driving more people into poverty.

Bleak really.

Pootles34 · 31/03/2026 12:00

Trump will back down, his voters will stand most things but not having less money - so the inflation will force his hand. As others have said he'll call it a victory.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 31/03/2026 12:01

Some deal will be done in the background. Trump will claim he won a staggering victory, the greatest mankind has ever known and declare himself emperor of the world, the rest of the world will nod politely and wait for him to be gone then try to repair the damage.

The middle East will become and remain more unstable and hate the west more, and we'll all be taking it up the arse with hugely increased prices on everything for years while the last remnants of the maga lot build a bronze shrine of trumps flabby arse and kiss it daily.

Sannabay · 31/03/2026 12:08

OpAre you following the government guidelines for an emergency?
Make sure you are looking after your health. Keep upto date with you dental appointments.
Consider putting Ur odd bits of change into those guidedog boxes.
Watch the news once a day. I favour the six o clock news.

Traxanos · 31/03/2026 12:13

The US needs a regime change. Trump has shown aggression towards other nations since he was elected ( while bizarrely seeking the Nobel Peace Prize)

I think he’ll back down while claiming victory, but honestly, he comes across as unhinged or cognitively impaired when he speaks to the press. So scary someone like him can have so much power.

ArcticBells · 31/03/2026 12:28

I think Trump will send in the marines because he can’t resist showing power.

Pettifogg · 31/03/2026 12:34

It'll just rumble on, much like Ukraine. We'll all.just get used to the price rises etc, like we have post-Brexit and post-Covid.

And claim he ended another war so deserves the Nobel peace prize

And sainthood.

ChefsKisser · 31/03/2026 13:09

Im hoping they come to some form of agreement soon and open the straight of hormuz but who knows.

Truth is its going to get worse before it gets better.

Erin1975 · 31/03/2026 13:20

The US cannot militarily take control of the Straights of Hormuz. It is not willing to invade Iran. Nor can it afford the global recession that will occur if oil tankers don't start moving again soon.

Trump will announce that he has caused the biggliest bestest destruction ever seen. He will declare he has won and then we will get back to some sense of normality.

The alternative is an oil shortage and a global recession.

Spinningnewbie · 31/03/2026 13:20

I think many airlines will go bust if fuel rationing becomes widespread.
By cutting off oil Iran intend to win this war by crippling West financially.

I doubt it. This isn't jsut going to push the price of oil up further, it is going to cause a worldwide shortage of oil. The USA will not be immune from this.

I agree.
He is 100% deranged and contradicting himself all the time.
How on earth did the orange prick wangle his way back into power?

Surrounded himself with fellow pricks willing to chase the money .
