I know nobody really knows but....what do YOU think will happen with Iran war?

What do you think will happen with the war in Iran? Will it burn out soon, go on forever, turn into WW3?

I feel so stressed by it and am stuck in a doomscroll loop which I know is never going to help. The impact on the UK is grim, it limits where else we could consider moving to and I'm just utterly fed up tbh.

Surrounded himself with fellow pricks willing to chase the money .

Yep!
Even if he dropped dead, or was assassinated, there are countless other power hungry pricks waiting in the wings.

But the American people voted him back in. Why??? Can they not see what an egotistical, chest beating prick that he is?!

Newgirls · 31/03/2026 13:34

Surely the war is very unpopular in the US with all those troops now on the ground. I think he will be trying to find a way to save face soon. Especially if young soldiers start dying. It will all be spun as a victory and Iran will carry on as before

He told them what they wanted to hear and they aren't intelligent enough to see through it.
He appealed to their bigotry
He promised them $$

Alpacajigsaw · 31/03/2026 13:54

i think he’ll pull back when it starts affecting his cronies and they lose money

And sainthood.

At least he would be dead!

He promised themn he would make their lives better by putting American interests first. He promised he would stick it to "the establishment". He promised them he would get rid of foreigners by deporting them and building a giant fence to keep them out. He keeps telling them he is doing this and is more successful than any previous President. It doesn't matter that it is bullshit, people hear what they want to hear.

‘We’ voted for Brexit, so go figure!

The US has been in a war, 'peacekeeping', 'police action', or similar for most of the time since its inception. They are addicted to conflict, and ignorant of international relations. This war might end (I think the consequences won't for a long time) but on and on the US will go until it finally bankrupts itself and collapses in a blaze of glory.

Shortly followed by the Yuan becoming the international currency.

If the UK doesn't want to follow suit (although realistically we did with the Empire) we should not leave any large influential trading and political blocs. Oops.

smallglassbottle · 31/03/2026 14:48

The barely sentient lifeform known as trump is breaking the world, with the support of others in the background.

CremeEggThief · 31/03/2026 14:51

WW111. In fact, part of me thinks we are already since Ukraine 2022, and nobody wants to face up to it and admit yet.😥

BedlamEveryday · 31/03/2026 14:52

Trump thought this was going to be another Venezuela. At some point he’ll claim there’s been a secret peace treaty that he can’t disclose the details of, and just pull out.

Nothing will have changed.

CambersHabituee · 31/03/2026 14:53

think we’re in for the US doing special ops to take down anyone they can target with power in Iran, and failing. The new positioning on abandoning the straits is going to cause more global chaos.

i don’t like ww2 analogies but Trump is looking as deranged as Hitler isn’t he? He’s also got utter yes men in Hesgeth etc.

it is all quite worrying.

Tel12 · 31/03/2026 14:58

I think that the US will send in ground troops expecting an easy win. I suspect it will get a lot worse all round. Trump will declare victory when stocks plummet or he gets bored. Israel on the other hand may just keep going for destabilisation. In the meantime energy prices will soar, petrol rationing, WFH, no unnecessary journeys etc in a month or so. I think that Russia are occupied elsewhere and China are playing the long game so hopefully WW3 averted.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 31/03/2026 15:01

Once Trump and his cronies have milked cow dry of the money they're making from manipulating the stock market through the successive contradictory claims of victory / the need for imminent invasion / the Straits being open / the Straits going to be open soon / etc, he'll find something else to distract his low-attention-span base with. Possibly ramping up the invasion threats to Cuba.

Meanwhile he'll carry on destabilising NATO while giving ever more concessions to Russia. Because Trump is a Russian asset.

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/03/2026 15:11

At least if the Eye of Sauron is on Iran it's off Denmark, Greenland and Canada. Well, except for middle of the nights incoherent rants.

He really thought it would be over in a day or 2.

He was caught unaware. And now is trying to find a way to save face.

I think eventually one random day he'll declare the war over and claim victory.

And it'll take months for everything to try and come back from the damage.

Im hoping it won't take him too long to realise he cant win.

butterfly231 · 31/03/2026 15:17

Expensive and destructive mess that won’t solve much, trump will stay in until people lose interest and he can back out like he’s won, will make oil expensive and leave a power vacuum that leaves room for god knows what.

GentleSheep · 31/03/2026 15:28

Depends on what Trump does next. He never accepts he hasn't won something so I can't see him backing off easily. He will have to eventually though because I don't think he can 'win' against Iran as in removing the IRGC regime and replacing it with all a new reasonable government. No, can't see that happening and it's awful for the Iranian population. He may actually have made things worse, now.

Meanwhile, the UK and many other countries will suffer due to the affect of fuel shortages which are now inevitable and could get worse depending on how much more destruction occurs and how long the Strait of Hormuz stays closed (and indeed whether the Mandab Strait closes as well, as threatened by the Houtis).

Jupiterx · 31/03/2026 15:29

Don't care whats so ever.
Ww3 could start and I'd still not be bothered.

FernandoSor · 31/03/2026 15:32

TACO framed as victory.

MaturingCheeseball · 31/03/2026 15:59

The thing is, if Trump has poked the hornet’s nest, and then had to effectively back down, won’t Iran become emboldened? If they can see off the no. 1 world power, then it’s game on with the weaker surrounding countries and even Europe.

CambersHabituee · 31/03/2026 16:05

Exactly @MaturingCheeseball we’re into a range of very bad outcomes here.

Iran has not won any sort of military victory. It has won this war through ecconomic means. It does not have the ability to affect its neighbours in the same was as it can the rest of the world.

Bringemout · 31/03/2026 16:38

I think it will be done before the end of the years (few more months really) regime may stay in place but weakened and then riots and civil unrest and then the regime will fall. fingers crossed on that one.

Hamas, iraqi militias Hezbollah will start to struggle with a lack of funding and regional conflict will die down. I think Hezbollah will eventually be disbanded in Lebanon and the Lebanese people may actually get a proper nation state. Eventually a peace agreement with israel (not normalisation, more of a “we will both pretend the other doesn’t exist”).

I think there will be fracture between gulf arab states and other arab states (thinking mostly of egypt, some very harsh words from gulf arabs towards egyptians and vice versa, the translate button on twitter is brilliant)and a harsher line will be taken with those who fund militia groups and a reassertion of the interests of nation states over and beyond arab solidarity.

I think Ukraine will come out of this very well. I think Taiwan is safer today than it was last year, the chinese are going to lose out on defence contracts to Israelis (singapore has already put orders in).

Russia, not sure.
