If this existed, would you buy it?

Imagine Mondelez brought out a Premium Cadbury’s which was Old Recipe but was £££ would you buy it?

I don’t work for them or anything but it seems to me that they are missing a trick with all the complaints about the quality now. The quality has gone down due to the price of ingredients going up hence the potential to turn it in to a luxury product
with a Extra Special Edition

what other things that don’t exist would you buy if they did?

Would I pay a premium price for old style cheap Cadbury’s chocolate? No.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/03/2026 18:21

I mean like a really nice version, but yes similar to as was. Other brands get away with being more expensive and people still buy them.

Every thread about chocolate on here seems to have people longing for Cadbury As Was

I miss it but as Cadbury costs ££££ now I wouldn't be prepared to pay even more for old recipe

I would pay £££££ for a teleporter.
I hate commuting.

I would pay £££ for a decent mandolin that a) didn't slice your fingers and b) could go in the dishwasher in 1 piece and come out clean.

MissingSockDetective · 29/03/2026 18:26

Probably not but I might if they did the proper original recipe Bournville one with the gold and red paper and foil wrapping. None of the plastic packaging though, it's far less satisfying.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/03/2026 18:27

I would pay £££££ for a secret Time Machine only I could use !!

Yes! Definitely the foil wrapping!

I think the quality initially went down as they were bought out by a greedy American company with no appreciation that people liked Cadbury's for the taste. It was always about the 💰💰💰. So I'd not be inclined to give them even more money.

EmpressaurusKitty · 29/03/2026 18:29

Not since I discovered Montezuma’s Absolute Black 100% cocoa, no.

queenofwandss · 29/03/2026 18:29

I would pay Lindt/Thornton’s/Tony’s prices for proper Cadbury’s. I probably wouldn’t pay Hotel Chocolat or anything above that.

Mangoandbroccoli · 29/03/2026 18:30

If they did this, they’d be admitting that what they produce now is something that scrimps on quality and taste, despite still being expensive for cheap ingredients!

TomatoSandwiches · 29/03/2026 18:30

I'd pay good money for someone to bring Smart cereal back.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/03/2026 18:30

Yes, I wish they’d never been sold, Kraft didn’t understand why people liked it in the first place, part of it was its Britishness.

It’s the Elephant in the room. Things like shrinkflation have been mentioned across media outlets

unfortunately I’m not able to eat chocolate anymore and I refuse to buy it for my partner

Ok I'm going to try to get some of this. I'll track you down if it's vile though! You have been warned!!

🤣🤣

RodeoClown · 29/03/2026 18:37

No I wouldn't. I just feel like it's over, there is no coming back now.

OrdinaryGirl · 29/03/2026 18:37

I was just talking about this the other day! I would 100% pay up to about £15 for a large bar of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk that tasted how it did in the 80s. ✅
Not found anything that tastes like CDM since they messed around with it and cheapened all the ingredients into the bendy, oily, crumbed nonsense available now.
I get Lindt bunnies these days but it’s not the same. •shakes head sadly•

I would buy McDonald’s Happy Meals for grown-ups. They don’t exist but if they did, they would contain, like, a little pack of tissues, or a mini notebook and pencil, or a bulldog clip, and have a slip of paper with a witty quote or some intriguing factoids on.

I’d pay a king’s ransom for lasagne sheets that fitted any lasagne dish I’ve ever owned without the need to snap them into smaller sections, creating viciously sharp shards in the process, that hide near the base of the cooker and bite your feet.

ultracynic · 29/03/2026 18:38

Buy the massive 850g grams (£10-15 Amazon) they are much more like the old style ie dull and chalky looking rather than shiny and oily,

TalulahJP · 29/03/2026 18:38

i’d pay a bit extra for an old style easter egg from cadburys. used to bloody love them.

FuglyBitch · 29/03/2026 18:39

I’d buy Ribena and every other fizzy drink if they brought back the original full fat recipes, with the added sweetener they taste awful

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 29/03/2026 18:41

@OrdinaryGirl

Feel exactly the same way about lasagne sheets and love your Happy Meal idea!

I think Galaxy chocolate is one of those things like coriander. I know several people who love it, but to me it tastes like the dust from a hoover bag.

Blame Jamie Oliver for that one
