Denby pottery under threat, have you bought some to support them?

My mum had Denby and it was indestructible. But now I hear they are under threat and have put out an SOS.

had assumed they would be around for ever but have now treated myself to a set that I was planning to get way in the future after I had the kitchen redone.

My last order came about a week ago.

It would be a dream come true if it was saved but imagine thats impossible as nearly all staff been made redundant and all machinery is up for sale.
Hopefully the cash will help save other ceramic jobs.

Snowwhitesnow · 24/05/2026 14:22

It’s so sad, I’m hoping for a Cornishware revival. My mugs came. It also bought the Tom Kerridge denby from M&S. Very stylish it is too. With a little lip for my gravy.

I wish the administrators could turn it round at the last minute, if there is now support from the government it would be more attractive to potential buyers/investors. It's such a shame.

I got a little mug from M&S yesterday, it's lovely.

We were in an outlet yesterday and the sales assistant said that sales were as good as ever but the profit margin wasn't there any more.

CandidHedgehog · 29/05/2026 11:43

The shipping delays are getting longer. It’s gone from 15-20 days to 20 days on the website and my last order (which hasn’t shipped) was placed on May 2nd.

InconsequentialFerret · 29/05/2026 17:04

Just received my final order today.

Shame about the profit margins. Real physical products can't compete through quality any more.

Meanwhile AI data centres are going to be covering the countryside making money from nothing.

That's a shame, the cost of everything has gone up a lot, it's affecting businesses.

It's 20% extra off on the website this weekend.

See it turned into trash. 😢

Does it include manufacturing or just the brand?

InconsequentialFerret · 04/06/2026 05:59

Manufacturing too, perhaps?

I hope so

I think its outdated now for a lot of people. Loved it when I was younger, but too 'chunky' for me now. Tastes change over the years; some people will still love it, will be new to it, and others will have gone of it. All the same, yes it is sad. I hope Burleigh never closes down, but possibly it will one day, when its seen as old fashioned. It will then all be rediscovered again by later generations.

CleanSkin · 04/06/2026 10:37

Just received my own final order, sent from “Denby in Administration”. That made me sad. I wish the staff well.

user1471502540 · 04/06/2026 20:55

We are on holiday and hubby just received an email to say he had been made redundant today. Not even a phone call !!
33 years service terminated by email.
The last pots went on the kiln today so there's definitely no saving it.
Thanks for all your kind thoughts.

metalcat · 04/06/2026 21:07

That's not good that they've done it via email, really impersonal. It's such a shame that it can't be saved.

Ive noticed a lot of ranges in zara asda etc seem to be copies of burloegh. People are paying high prices for the high street stuff too - but its all copies of burliegh and the younger generatuons ahve no idea its exists as a company

They are in Administration! As well. So sad.
My parents have a lot of blue willow pattern.
I noticed that some of the Stacy Solomon (Asda ) is. Very similar.

Yes, I've been watching the videos on the FB page Sad. I put in a glowing review for my last order last week, you never know someone might still be reading them.
