Denby pottery under threat, have you bought some to support them?

My mum had Denby and it was indestructible. But now I hear they are under threat and have put out an SOS.

had assumed they would be around for ever but have now treated myself to a set that I was planning to get way in the future after I had the kitchen redone.

Mine arrived and I'm so glad I ordered it all!

I don't think of it as twee, I like these sorts of ranges, which loads of coffee shops in Derby are using

Nothing twee about Denby!

Emma Bridgewater is twee, although I do still like it. I have the hen egg holder and it looks so cute in the kitchen!

How is it at the moment? I've heard it's really busy and parking is overflowing (which is great but I have no idea where else to park)...I'm assuming you're talking about the outlet in Denby though, I might be wrong

I went over to the factory shop in Denby on Friday, mid afternoon, the car park was about 90% full and the shops were pretty busy, but manageable, they had all the tills open. I didn't buy much as there was hardly any Greenwich at all but 30-50% off nearly everything and lots of people clearly getting full dinner sets. The staff said they were constantly unloading more deliveries and the website is up to date with stock.

Has anyone had anything delivered recently?
(Unfortunately I can’t get to shops, had to order on line.)
Ordered for a couple more places of imperial blue on 1st April & haven’t heard anything yet. Hoping they aren’t causing just busy!

I placed an order at the end of March and still waiting. They do send a weekly email to basically say don’t worry they are just very busy and ordered will be shipped soon. Latest one said within 10-15 days.

i’m not worried just now. I’m in no rush.

CleanSkin · 15/04/2026 17:27

Thanks @purplepie1 (& apologies for typos)

I received an apology email saying they'd been overwhelmed by the number of recent orders and that it would be a while.

WendyFromTransvisionWamp · 15/04/2026 20:26

I placed my order on March 23rd and it was delivered this Monday, over three weeks later.

It’ll turn up soon!

InconsequentialFerret · 16/04/2026 00:22

I just received another email today.

I placed my order on 2 April, so hopefully it might be late next week going by your delivery Wendy.

purplepie1 · 19/04/2026 07:32

My order arrived yesterday

Neuronimo · 19/04/2026 10:44

I haven't bought anything new, but I really like Denby. I love my deeply unfashionable Romany coffee cups. They are almost indestructible and actually bounce if you drop them. I swear my coffee tastes better in them too for some reason.

I would consider a dinner service if they are still going by the time we need to replace ours.

ItsNotMeHonestly · 19/04/2026 22:35

I have my Mum’s Greenwheat Denby and my own Heritage and Studio Blue sets.

As well as the nostalgia factor of the pieces I’ve inherited, I’ve been pleased with the square and oval plates of the Heritage set and the lovely colours of Studio Blue. I stocked up recently and have just placed another order, to ensure I have spares. If they go under, I’ve got what I need, and if they can be saved, I’ve done a little to help. The original order took 3 weeks to arrive, but they did keep me updated throughout, and it’s clear that people have rallied round in John Lewis and M&S as well. Very pleased with my recent purchase and looking forward to the arrival of the next. Extremely well packed - some of the best professional packaging I’ve seen lately.

I’ve also just tracked down a couple of nice reactive glaze oval plates by Denby for M&S x Tom Kerridge in branch - not on the website - as well. They look great and will be fab for hosting.

Whether or not you are a Denby fan do sign the petition linked above!

I have used my Tesco vouchers for an order today.
I really hope that this helps a tiny bit. It meant I got my order with no actual money leaving my account other than £5 for postage. I felt a bit guilty.

Didn't realise it was still going to be honest. I think their products are suited to a smaller specialized much older market Good quality products but a bit too chunky, old fashioned and expensive for a younger market

Hope they can stay afloat. But if not A lot of people will always have warm and happy memories of Denbigh Pottery

So sorry to hear this. That’s awful for you both and the other staff at Denby. Best wishes for the future.

user1471502540 · 22/04/2026 18:06

Thank you. He said its just sad saying goodbye to people he's worked with for 34 years. Some were finished today.
I hope everyone gets their orders sorted.

OvernightBloats · 23/04/2026 08:32

So sad. Another long established British company closing down. Manufacturing here has been in a slow decline for so long. It sometimes feels like it is getting harder and harder to not buy imported goods.

I will cherish my Denby stuff. They were built to last.
