A lovely sunny day here today like storm Dave never happend ☀️ Managed to peg out some washing and then it will be relaxing on the couch watching tv today.
Still feeling the effects of doing too much on Saturday and we’ve had a rough few nights with our little dog her tummy is off she’s currently sat in her face place on my lap feeling very sorry for herself 😞

Oh she is so cute!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/04/2026 12:54

Afternoon all.
Another lovely sunny, slightly chilly day. Had all the family over for a roast yesterday & it was lovely. Dgc, nearly 3 is an absolute whirlwind. Wish I had her energy!

Ds is recovering from a cold & feeling a bit sorry for himself. He's under strict instructions to keep his distance as I'm extremely immuno compromised atm.
Rough night as we overslept yesterday & I took my steroids rather late. Hopefully better sleep tonught as I took them at 6.30am this morning.

Dh working today so nothing special going on.

Have a good day all 😊

Where do toddlers get their energy? DD and her husband take DGD to parks and playgrounds every day she's not at nursery, but in between times encourage her to climb up and down the stairs with them. Once upstairs she runs the length of the landing over and over. Everything they do is calculated to tire her out 😅but of course it tires them out too!

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/04/2026 13:37

@Swanhilde a taste of spring!

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/04/2026 14:18

Oh what a sweetie @Dozymoo42

Gorgeous @Swanhilde

Sound like you both had lovely days @FuzzyPuffling @CoffeeBeansGalore

Im resting in the sunshine and dippy dog has just jumped on my lap after dashing around, chasing cats/ squirrels/ birds and sniffing everything and everywhere all day! She’s a little ball of energy til she’s suddenly not and flops in an exhausted heap and has a snooze!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/04/2026 16:11

@Dozymoo42 what a cutie 💕.
If mine tried to get on my lap I'd disappear under them 🤣.

Dozymoo42 · 06/04/2026 16:11

She is the teeny weeny dictator in our house the queen of all she surveys 😂 my little companion when I’m having a bad day also 😊

martha79 · 06/04/2026 16:40

Ah she's lovely @Dozymoo42

I've not done much today - one load of washing and changed the cats' litter. Got a bit of 'second job' work (teaching a music lesson) shortly, then food and back to bed I think.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/04/2026 16:55

My restful afternoon didn't happen. I wanted to do a return with eBay but couldn't get it to upload a photo. Huge palaver with forgotten passwords followed, but I managed to do it on my phone in the end. These stupid things take up so much time.

Looking forward to a calm evening. I wish we hadn't watched The Other Bennet Sister last week, it would be perfect for just now!

Oioiqueen · 06/04/2026 16:59

@CoffeeBeansGalore I mask up around my family and use Dettol antibacterial spray regularly on touch points. So far I've missed some germs that the rest of the house have passed around each other. My husband is also immunosuppressed and today we played blood test bingo. Turns out from the last bloods that my neutrophils were 1.7 his were 5.7 so yep he gets to deal with the kids next time they are sick haha! Chemo silver linings and all that!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/04/2026 17:06

@Oioiqueen Good old Dettol!

Dozymoo42 · 06/04/2026 18:42

Love finding a silver lining @Oioiqueen!
@martha79oooo what instrument do you teach? I really fancy learning to play piano but was a bit worried I was too old and I only want to start once I’ve got a little bit better at understanding resting etc and once I’ve finished my current apprenticeship which should be around July/August. Only so much brain power to go round at the minute 😊

Nothing more stressful than forgotten bloody passwords @TeaAndStrumpets!

Flute and music theory mainly, plus other bits of woodwind and piano to a basic level. It used to be my main job for about ten years, but I now just do some alongside another job. You're never too old! I only teach adults these days - aged 20s to 70s, and ranging from beginners upwards. There is obviously more time pressure and adults can be a bit out of the habit of learning (although it doesn't sound like you are if you're doing an apprenticeship!) but I find adults often surprise themselves with what they achieve, and find it a great outlet - it's hard to think about other worries when you're concentrating on reading music and what your hands are supposed to be doing.

I had absolutely wild dreams last night - felt constant apart from when I was waking up on and off with ridiculous amounts of adrenaline going on. Silly brain!

Back to work today but it's pretty quiet.

MewithME · 07/04/2026 09:04

Morning all. You're reminding me I was going to attempt to get my piano tuned. Poor thing sounds dreadful.

It's the big drive home today. All sorts of mixed feelings this morning. Sad at leaving my Mum, looking forward to getting home, wishing the distance wasn't so great...sad I've yet again not seen my sibling and don't know how to sort it out.

Morning! The sun is glorious again here today, if a little chilly ☀️

DH and I are going for brunch this morning at our local EH site and we will pick up some paint testers on the way home. Have been wanting to refresh DS's bedroom ever since he moved out 2 years ago! DD has gradually moved into it as it's bigger than her bedroom so really need to get it done before she finishes uni in the summer 🎓

Then a restful afternoon, hopefully in the sun. And DH is making pizza for tea 🍕

Have a peaceful day all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/04/2026 11:53

Morning all! Absolutely glorious day here. I'm having a quiet week to calm my adrenaline so not going out but enjoying the view out of the window. A friend of DH called in but no input from me needed, they just have technical motoring discussions.

Read the news and panicked re train crash in France. DD2 and family are en route to Lille but Eurostar isn't involved thankfully. Sorry for all involved.

DD1 and family are on their way to the Isle of Wight so a rather more sedate journey!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/04/2026 12:21

Afternoon all. Sunny here again. It's gorgeous!
Physio this afternoon so actually getting out in the sun 😊.
@MewithME hope the drive goes well. Sorry your sibling didn't make any effort to see you whilst you were with your mum. Sorry I have no suggestions to gee them up. However should they have a go you can validly point out they could have made the effort when you were there.

Have a lovely day all.

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/04/2026 14:08

Lovely to see the sun after storm Dave isn't it. Went for a walk round the park and to the local pub yesterday, feeling it a bit today so have not yet been out.

The GP has been trying to ring me saying about referral for the gallstones found last week but after a chat they have put that on hold for now. Going to see how my symptoms go.

Surgery for me would probably not be easy as have had a lot in the past, might be open I expect.

It's a tricky one to know what to do with, but I am not keen on further surgery if can be avoided (have had bowel obstructions in the past from adhesions and more surgery can just make the problem worse.)

I've been feeling a bit anxious over it all but have been reading this helpful book on anxiety and working on accepting things and trusting the doctors.

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/04/2026 16:34

Afternoon all, a beautiful day here too. Managed a short dog walk earlier and been resting in the garden since in the sunshine.

DH has been tackling overgrown shrubs in the garden which is a never ending job to be fair but he’s making good progress. Wish I could help but instead I’m just directing from a chair which mostly involves shouting a bit higher or a bit lower 😂 I am the finder of batteries for various hedge trimmers and garden tools though so I come in useful!

Safe journey home @MewithME

@Orangesandlemons77 I hope the book is helpful with the anxiety. Understandable to be worried about further surgery but hope you can discuss it with your GP.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

martha79 · 07/04/2026 16:59

Safe travels @MewithME

Enjoying the sunshine - my gardener has been and mowed the lawn and tidied up, while I've moved a few things around out there and hung the washing out. Actually feel like I've got a bit of energy today, although I have just had an hour's nap!

MewithME · 07/04/2026 17:28

We got home ok, thanks all. 🙂

Good run compared to the journey up thankfully. Some idiots as usual so bit stressful in places but all is well and happy to be home and to have seen my Mum. It was hard leaving as much as she drives me a bit bonkers. I do love her to bits. Families!

Looking forward to a chilled out day tomorrow or doing laundry and pottering. Glad I came back today as it gives me some annual leave time at home to recover. Weather is lovely at last too, though pretty breezy. Hoping I might get some reading time tomorrow.

@MewithME well done on a successful bit of travelling - there's no place like home! You can relax now and enjoy your garden.

Lots of busy gardeners on here, it's just such a hopeful time of year.

@Orangesandlemons77 were the gallstones done quite a few years ago? Perhaps there's a new technique available so it is worth a chat with your doctor.

@martha79 sounds like the sap is rising! Glad you are feeling the benefit of the sunshine, and you can't beat washing that's been dried in the sun.

@TodayIsatrickyone you sound very efficient in your managerial role! I am also the finder of things in our house. DH is always 'losing' things if they are three inches to one side on a shelf!

@CoffeeBeansGalore a walk in the sunshine after your physio must be good therapy too!

@Dozymoo42 an apprenticeship sounds very useful!

@Swanhilde your garden always sounds lovely. This is such a nice time of year with all the spring bulbs coming up.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/04/2026 18:39

@TeaAndStrumpets unable to go for a walk unfortunately but the drive there & back (40 mile round trip) was lovely in the sun. Saw loads of daffodils 😊.

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/04/2026 18:42

@TeaAndStrumpets “DH is always 'losing' things if they are three inches to one side on a shelf!” made me chuckle and sounds familiar 😂😂
I did ask mine if he’d checked in the box labelled ‘garden tool chargers’ when he was saying his mini chainsaw would make the job much easier but he just looked a bit confused. Strangely enough I looked and there it was. Magic! 😊

Must be a man thing, and a too much clutter thing! I'm sure if we went minimal it would be easier to find stuff.
