@Dozymoo42 it's a scandal we and our stumpy sisters are overlooked by furniture makers!

You must have needed a bit more sleep then! I'm sure it will even out eventually though, I feel it usually does. Just in time for them to change again!

I don't have a heated blanket unfortunately, a friend bought me one once and I think I wore it out because it broke after a few years!! I usually get into bed with my heat pad if I'm cold but we have a new house that's really well insulated and I keep it at 21 degrees so I'm usually pretty warm. It's been so much better for my health (and dh's Raynauds) compared to the chilly rental we used to live in.

I'll attach a picture of my emotional support chicken here, and will show the ugly cardigan BUT only if it's not too ugly, haha

That is a very fine chicken! I use a rechargeable hot water bottle with my IBS and this has been a very bad week so I've had it on constantly. It is actually good for car journeys because it stays warm like a hot water bottle. I

I always get IBS when overtired, it is miserable but you have to ride it out. I've tried various medicines but really heat is the best thing for me. At the moment I am suffering after eating a small amount of ginger. I had the same a few weeks ago and wondered if there was a connection, but tried some again a couple of days ago and reacted within hours. I have so many food sensitivities I thought I'd found them all, but there's always something lurking! Last year I tried some probiotics and barely left the bathroom for weeks!

@JewelleryCat i've got a heated blanket too, think it was Lakeland. We actually had it over the duvet one night last winter it was so cold! Our house is old and not well insulated but moving to a lovely new one later in the year 😃

TodayIsatrickyone · 01/04/2026 15:05

Oh my goodness @bedfrog I absolutely adore the emotional support chicken!!

Just catching up on posts. Sorry you can’t go today @MewithME but sounds sensible to take an extra day.

I managed to go out for lunch today with DH & DD while she’s off so that was lovely to do something nice instead of the duty visits to mum/ MIL or appointments of late!

We then had a mooch in Primark which was really pushing it tbh but bought a few bits for DD and was so nice to do something normal ish with her. Walking/ standing is definitely my nemesis even though DH dropped us right outside so legs are painful already and I know I’ll pay for it I’ve taken extra painkillers and I’m resting in bed now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/04/2026 15:07

Re IBS and ME/cfs it's a real chicken and egg scenario.

JewelleryCat · 01/04/2026 13:52

@bedfrog I also love the chicken, it’s so cute! If you’d like another heated blanket, I recommend to get one from Lakeland. Mine is still going strong from there

Thank you! I will keep that in mind. We went away recently and the bed had a heated bottom sheet and it was absolutely fantastic

@TeaAndStrumpets the hot water bottle in the car sounds amazing!! And how crazy that ginger sets you off - something that's meant to settle the stomach!

Thanks everyone for the chicken compliments! It's stuffed with old shredded tshirts so has a nice weight to it.

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/04/2026 15:10

@TodayIsatrickyone sometimes it's worth it just to feel "normal" for a few hours!

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/04/2026 15:12

I know @bedfrog that's why I just didn't believe it the first time!

Wow a rechargeable heated chicken would be a hit!

JewelleryCat · 01/04/2026 15:23

@bedfrog I love heavy weighted things too. A heated bottom sheet? Is that like an electric blanket? If you have a cat, they also love the heated blanket lol

@TeaAndStrumpets it really was cold last winter but having it on just a low number all through the night made me very toasty under the blanket and good luck with the house move

Dozymoo42 · 01/04/2026 15:31

I also love the chicken!
we definitely should revolt @TeaAndStrumpets we cannot allow this injustice to continue!

Absolutely! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and found a very pretty floral vase that I didn’t need in the slightest but it brings me joy! 😊

Ooh talking of heated things, one of my best recent purchases is a heated mattress topper - like an electric blanket but much thicker. Extremely toasty.

That's interesting, saves a bit of thickness too. What a good idea.

And it seems to run in the female side of the family. DGD at 14 months still wears age 6 months leggings, and her age 12 months winter coat swamps her! DGsons on the other hand , are all lanky. Their Mums are both short like me.

Swanhilde · 01/04/2026 16:48

I am home and in bed with a brew after a wonderful couple of days away ☕

I'm absolutely shattered and my legs are seizing up, but we had a lovely stroll around Bath this morning. All around the Abbey and baths, not inside, and then to a fab book shop and finishing with a delicious cinnamon butter bunn at Sally Lunn's 😋

It's a beautiful part of the country @Orangesandlemons77 🥰

Called in to see my DPs on the way home and had another cuppa and hot cross bun 😁

Need to get some warmth on my thighs, so will fire up the heat pack when I've drunk my tea. Takeaway later and then an early night 🥱

Have a restful evening all 💕

Aww bless your little DGD! I at 5ft 1 was the tallest woman in our family until my daughters grew up then I was relegated pretty swiftly! Now they are around 5ft 3 but all my nieces seem to be really tall for their age, and the boys in the family on my side are on the short side - my son takes after his biological dads side of the family and is 6ft so dwarfs me 😂

TodayIsatrickyone · 01/04/2026 16:56

Ahh sounds a fabulous few days @Swanhilde

Good shout about the heat for your legs, I shall do the same though they currently have a little dog sleeping on them who I’m loathe to disturb and she’s nicely warm so doing a good job 😊

Swanhilde · 02/04/2026 10:30

Grrr, have answered 2 calls from the drs only to be cut off straight away 😡

Now I have to do another econsult to get put back on the list. I've given them DH's number even though I can answer other calls 🤞

So much for my chilled relaxing morning 😕

Genetics are really strange. I'm 5'4 1/2 (very important is the 1/2). So average height yet I've got quite long legs and take a regular trouser leg. My DD at 6 is similar and goes up a trouser size a year earlier than her age. She's very strong on a bike as a result and out speeds the boys her own age easily.

Swanhilde · 02/04/2026 12:03

Sorted - she called back and is going to get advice from ENT. Have a face to face with her next Thurs so she can actually look at my ear drum. Other suggestion (steroid nose spray) I already have and I'm too young (!) for a free hearing test👍

So back to my chilled day. Sun is trying to come out and I've watered the seedlings in the greenhouse ☀️🌱

Rest and tea is my plan ☕

TodayIsatrickyone · 02/04/2026 13:29

Glad the GP got through @Swanhilde and there’s a plan re your ear.

Woke at 5 here with the lovely PEM feeling like I’d been hit by a truck. Knew I’d pushed it yesterday but it’s worth it sometimes. Took codeine ( for such occasions) which kicked in and I got back to sleep at least til the dog woke me at 9. DH took her out and brought me tea so been a slow morning.

So rest and tea day here too. Sun is trying to come out so just sitting outside listening to birdsong and reading my kindle which is rather nice.

They really ought to scan people to get the fit of clothes right. I've often thought that about bras. There are so many threads on here about fitting nightmares. It's fine when you find finally find a comfy bra but so often you find the model is obsolete when you come to restock.

Yes that extra half inch does make all the difference. I used to go for regular appointments at the hospital to monitor my osteoporosis. At my first one they recorded my height as five foot one and a half....towering over over @Dozymoo42 😋 . After a few more visits they read it as five foot two! I put it down to a few years of Pilates with a stern teacher who corrected my posture every lesson.

martha79 · 02/04/2026 14:38

Glad you got something sorted @Swanhilde

I'm another short one - five foot two last time I checked! With very short legs so trousers are a pain, while petite tops are never quite long enough in the body (but non-petite tops always have too-long arms).

I had a rough night so pretty tired today, just woken up from a nap on my lunch break and trying to do as little as possible until I can log off from work.
