We're going to Cyprus at the end of April and are still going. My DH parents live there and they say it's fine.

Rhodesbride · 19/03/2026 17:31

We are going to Egypt this time next week and mainland Spain in the 6weeks holidays.

Poparts · 19/03/2026 17:33

Why will you avoid greece OP. Any islands in particular or all islands. Cyprus I get but greece ?

Guess because it seems a bit close?

Disneyland Paris booked.

also hoping for a beach holiday too - we’ll stick to the west - Canaries, Morocco, Balearics or Cape Verde - and won’t book till nearer the time

we had been thinking of Greece or Malta - but not this year

Perfect28 · 19/03/2026 17:39

Lucky you OP, bit done deaf though isn't it, flaunting your multiple holidays

NotesAndLists · 19/03/2026 17:40

We are going to the US for 4 weeks in July and 3 weeks in December.

whiteroseredrose · 19/03/2026 17:41

We were supposed to be going to Jordan in April but that is now unlikely.

We've booked an extra week off in May just in case things change but I’m not holding my breath.

Then South Africa in October. Hopefully that one will actually happen!

@HavefunGomadLivingInTheCity should you not be avoiding the USA?

Yes it’s not a million miles away but on that basis i suppose one of would avoid czech republic and poland because of ukraine

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 19/03/2026 17:45

Sri Lanka is on hold, so is a return visit to Jordan.
Probably Kenya or Botswana, but the prices have shot up since we looked a few months ago.

freetospeakup · 19/03/2026 17:47

I've swapped Turkey for the canaries. It's just a beach/pool break so could be anywhere sunny. Free to swap with easyJet. I'm sure it would have been absolutely fine in Turkey but as it didn't matter to us too much where we went and it was free to swap it seemed sensible.

Why is it tone deaf .. ?

Trust me there's alot of other things I happy go without, to fund my love of travel
If you think this is to do with money

I personally don't feel i need to, but I can understand why some people would feel that way

Did you cancel or put the sri lanka on hold, or was that descion made for you? By the goverment or travel agent?

I was planning a safari next year but I'm unsure now

Antalya in June, Tunisia in July. Just home yesterday from Disneyland Paris.

Randomchat · 19/03/2026 17:57

We haven't booked anything yet but will be staying within mainland Europe rather than going further away.
Partly because we're travelling for a fixed 10 days while ds is away with school and it would be a bit of a nightmare if we got stuck or delayed somewhere.
Partly because I've noticed the cost of longer haul flights have gone up quite a bit and we have a fixed budget.

I don't worry particularly about being bombed, it's more the cost and practicalities of potential delays that are keeping me closer to home. I can always get home from Spain on a train and a ferry. Not so easy from South Africa or the Carribean.

I've got a friend in Dubai who's struggling to get home and another who paid £££ because he needed to get home on time and not keep waiting for flights to be rearranged.

I could do without that.

Realitycheck1 · 19/03/2026 17:58

Well I've read planes could be rationing fuel soon esp long haul
So I think at the moment any journey is in jeopardy!
Esp any long haul

ViciousCurrentBun · 19/03/2026 18:00

We were going to book a trip to see relatives in Hong Kong and extend it to include other countries but the fares have gone up so much and just general what’s going on so we are holding off.

workingcocker · 19/03/2026 18:02

Iceland next week , Majorca in May, South of France for 2 weeks in August.

I know the majority of mumsnetters will hate me for this but I am a bit sad I can’t go to Dubai for a while. I just love the mixture of heat and luxury.

Never mind!

LysistrataSusanCarter · 19/03/2026 18:10

We didn’t have anything inter-continental booked, which I’m relieved about now.

Easter is a family break in Dorset and I’m taking DS14 to Gdansk.

Summer is a week in the Alps and a week in northern Italy. DS and I plan to go to Estonia and Finland for a few days and DD wants to go to Riga- so I think if anyone will scupper our holiday plans, it’ll be Putin.
