San Fran at Easter, Italy in June, Croatia in August.

I was planning on booking a return visit to Jordan for October half term just as the war broke out so I’ve put that on hold for now and will look for something closer to the time.

I was also planning on booking somewhere in Asia for Christmas but will probably now book the Caribbean.

Figgygal · 19/03/2026 19:32

Going to Australia in July
Stop over in kuala Lumpur so hoping it's fine

Ivegotafeelingwerenotinkansasanymore · 19/03/2026 19:35

Supposed to be going to Dubai for 10 days at the start of June but I'm fairly sure that's not going to happen however the travel company still wants the balance paying at the end of the month which seems a faff to then be refunded later.

Going to stay with family in Canada at the end of July and will look to book something else as a replacement for Dubai later on in the year.

To be fair it’s not on the holidays board, it’s in chat and in trending.

Sorry — my mistake

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 19/03/2026 19:54

We are in thailand at Easter but thank God we booked direct flights as I'd not be going if we were flying into the middle east for a stopover. We've got south africa in October, which appears fine. I personally would be avoiding USA, I appreciate that might be contentious but I just feel its not somewhere I want to be right now for lots of reasons. Tourism there has dropped up to 10% in some places, so I'm not the only one....

Squirrelandhedgehog · 19/03/2026 20:05

We have cancelled Sri Lanka at Easter as was flying via Dubai with Emirates. Luckily got a full refund, booked independently. If we had booked direct would still be going though there is a 4 day week and fuel rationing there so not sure it's best time to go anyway as some safaris etc being called off due to lack of fuel.

Going to Canaries instead and hopefully will go to Sri Lanka another time.

snowymarbles · 19/03/2026 20:09

@dastardlydani - have you got a link for info? My dd is flying to Thailand in 2 weeks and the. On elsewhere. I also just rebooked her coming back through Thailand instead of Doha.

dastardlydani · 19/03/2026 20:35

@snowymarbles I heard it on LBC

I think a stop over will be less impacted than a holiday there.

LadyVioletBridgerton · 19/03/2026 20:51

Three holidays booked, none in the ME. The only thing I’m concerned about is the oil situation and will it mean our flights are cancelled.

MaidOfSteel · 19/03/2026 20:54

I’m in Cyprus right now and am not at all worried. Hoping to go to Florida later in the year, too, if airfares don’t increase too much and make it unaffordable.

BrendaSmall · 19/03/2026 20:56

We’re going Cyprus Wednesday, Tunisia in may, Egypt July, Cyprus again in September and Africa for Christmas!
Why should people not travel??
if you listen to the Media you’d never leave your house!!

AnnaQuayRules · 19/03/2026 21:02

Last month DH and I were discussing booking Turkey for September as we'd never been. That plan is now postponed!

ShanghaiDiva · 19/03/2026 21:04

I was considering the Middle East for Feb next year, so not pursuing that plan. Have booked Malta for end of April and other trips this year are UK, France, Switzerland so don’t envisage any changes.

damelza · 19/03/2026 21:09

Holding off on foreign plans for now. Will wait and see. Retired so not confined to any specified time. Will definitely go to the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, Donegal to Kerry over three weeks or more late May. It looks stunning.

Near to be going 1st April. We still intend to unless situation shifts.

Anything unusual there or concern etc?

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 19/03/2026 21:12

The only way I’ll be going abroad this year is if the war escalates and we all get drafted.

JasonTindallsTan · 19/03/2026 21:14

We’re supposed to be going to Vietnam in July (flying direct) and Turkey in October. Fingers crossed.

Icanflyhigh · 19/03/2026 22:00

Mamma Mia Islands in Greece in July - 2 weeks All Inc for me DH and 4 DC.
3 weeks in USA in August. Starting in Celebration FL for a week, 3 days travel (roadtrip) North to Pensacola FL for a week and a half and then home.

Not changed my plans, not planning on changing my plans.

Yes it’s not a million miles away but on that basis i suppose one of would avoid czech republic and poland because of ukraine

Czech Republic has no border with Ukraine.

We were considering USA this year but we won’t be going back for a while now (at least until the orange baboon is gone).

We’ve been looking at canaries for some sunshine but nothing booked yet.

whirlyhead · 20/03/2026 08:06

I live in Mallorca so have no need of going on holiday, but just to warn you prices are shooting up here. Petrol is 25% more expensive than before the war which will soon feed into food prices. Eating out here is expensive too (and often the food isn’t very good). Fortunately we’ve had plenty of rain lately as tourists use 6 times more water than the residents do and we have serious water issues here…

It’s still not ‘tone deaf’ though, especially as the title was really clear so if anyone wants to avoid it, they could. Or they could just come on to moan and be offended on the behalf of others. 🤪

This. People do need to take some bare minimum of responsibility in not clicking on a thread if the title makes it obvious the content is going to bother them.

My plans- UK and Spain, so obviously no change there. The latter is AI anyway, so quite insulated from price rises. I suppose if things like day trips are massively more expensive or unavailable due to petrol that would have an impact.

I can see why people would worry about Cyprus. Most of Greece is an absolute schlep from Iran though!

reluctantbrit · 20/03/2026 08:14

We had to cancel Cyprus after Easter, but that was because of medical reasons not the war. Saying that I am definitely not feeling that confidence about Cyprus and ehen we rebooked we chose Sicily instead.

Which is just a shame because I really love Cyprus and was looking forward going back.

Summer holiday is Italy, Florence and Lake Garda.
We are also twice in Germany visiting family.

The USA is definitely off the list until a certain someone and his croonies are gone.

fi89 · 20/03/2026 08:21

Just the USA this year (we go most years and this is the first year I feel uneasy, won’t book for next year).

We were thinking about Turkey for next year but are changing to Greece, not worried about Greece.
