If you have no health issues and drink a normal amount of fluid say equivalent to a few cups of tea or glasses of whatever per day.. how many times per day do you go for a wee?

Just this. Curious to know... also do you get up in the night to use the toilet?

A lot but then I think I always have done. It is worse in the morning. I get up at least once, sometimes twice a night.

GloiredeDijon · 05/03/2026 10:02

5 times on average in 24 hours.
As regards getting up in the night it depends what time I have my last wee and go to bed so I might need a wee once during the night.
I drink about 2 litres of fluid during the day.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 05/03/2026 10:07

A few cups of tea or water isn’t a normal amount though. I have roughly 2 coffees, 1 black tea and 1.5-2L of water a day (4/5 large glasses) and pee around 7 times a day.

Spondoolie · 05/03/2026 10:07

Interesting. I have never counted. Will now count

Moshalot · 05/03/2026 10:11

The 2 litres a day figure includes fluid from your food, so the amount you need to drink will vary depending on whether you live on carbs or on salad.

I pee about 12 times a day, and never at night.
If for some reason I start peeing at night (because I've been up a few nights in a row with sick kids or something) then my bladder starts demanding night time pees every night. To fix it I just have to refuse to obey it for a couple of nights, so I lie there awake needing to pee but I don't get up. Then it relearns that it doesn't need to pee at night.

HopefullyOneRandomDay · 05/03/2026 10:14

The relearning thing is pretty interesting, I've never tried this. Also I think for a lot of people a few drinks per day is pretty normal. If I drank 2 litres of water per day I'd never be away from the toilet.

About 5-7 times a day
drink 3 hot drinks and about 2l water

lechatnoir · 05/03/2026 10:20

I usually have 3 large mugs of tea or coffee and 2-3 glasses of water (0.5l each) sometimes a bit more if I'm exercising. I always go first & last thing then probably 2-3 times in between but rarely during the night.

TittyGajillions · 05/03/2026 10:23

I drink a few cups of tea a day and a couple of glasses of watery juice, I also eat a lot of fruit. I pee 6-7 times a day, if my cat wakes me in the night I'll get up to pee if he doesn't I'm OK till morning.

I am the master of my own bladder!

ChirpyAmberLion · 05/03/2026 10:30

I tend to know for myself that if I'm having a wee every hour then I'm properly hydrated, and more so PM to evening, when it's very pale and almost clear.

Having said the above, I am proper water needer, as in I can't go anywhere without a bottle of water. I get a really dry mouth/throat otherwise and start to fret (extreme I know).

Occasionally I can get up for a wee once or twice during the night, but that's not an every night thing, thank God, as I love my sleep!

TessTickle0 · 05/03/2026 10:32

I drink loads of cups of tea-its what gets me through the day.
I worry im going to the loo more than anyone else..but I know it's partly due to the caffeine and because I doa lot of "just in case" wees.
I do get up once or twice a night, however the other night I deliberately didn't get up and eventually fell back asleep and managed until morning so I do think a bit of relearning is needed for my bladder.
Trying not to go quite so much now during the day.

7238SM · 05/03/2026 10:37

I only drink 1, large coffee in the morning and the rest of the day its weak squash or water.
I'm late 40's and peri. I've never counted but would guess I wee 6x a day? On getting up, before bed and a few times in between 🤔

Very rare for me to need a wee at night- maybe once a month. The only time would be if I'd had lots of alcohol and water just before bed.

MyOpalCat · 05/03/2026 10:44

It's rare for me to get up at night to go.

In day at home more frequently than when out of house - there it's roughly every 3-4 hours higher when on period.

I was offered some physical therapy post birth and I was told I was going to frequently and that I'd train my baldder to expect to go that often but never really had an issue.

Pixiedust49 · 05/03/2026 10:47

I wee a lot. And always get up during the night. I do drink a lot of water though. I can’t drink tea or coffee after about 5 pm or else I’m never off the toilet. Goes straight through me.

Mithral · 05/03/2026 10:51

I don't track my fluid intake I just drink if Im thirsty - generally a few cups of tea and coffee (both mostly decaf) plus a glass of water with meals. I reckon I go about 6 times over a 24 period.

CatherineHeathcliffe · 05/03/2026 10:55

I think you're drinking very little so the answers you get might not tally up with your experiences.

I drink about 8 litres per day in total. I wee probably ten times a day and generally once in the night.

thenightsky · 05/03/2026 10:57

It varies, but I generally need a wee about 50 mins to an hour after a drink. So if I'm setting off on a long car journey, I won't have a drink before I leave.

This must be a wind up! 8 litres a day is absolutely bonkers! Why would anyone drink that amount? I have two cups of tea, a coffee and maybe a litre of water on a good day, probably somewhere between 500ml and a litre usually. I haven't seen any evidence that humans need any more than this to function effectively.

HopefullyOneRandomDay · 05/03/2026 11:06

8 litres 🤣🤣🤣

Reminds me of the time someone asked on here how many steps they did per day and someone said at least 30,000 in the morning before they even went to work 🤣🤣🤣

Including water from food women need 2 to 2.7 litres for women and it depends on activity level and climate.

I think many USA citizens think it need to be all water as they get lots of adverts selling water in bottles to them- hence all the memes that europeans don't drink water as for them fluid intake is split between hot drinks, fruit juices and other liquids drinks and food sources.

Waitingfordoggo · 05/03/2026 11:19

I seem to need a wee about every 90 minutes, so approx 12 wees during my waking hours. I only go once in the night though.

faerylights · 05/03/2026 11:21

I pee once every 2-3 hours during the day, plus at least once a night and always have done since childhood.

I never drink plain water except to rake my medication before bed.

Hazelnuticecream · 05/03/2026 11:23

If I only drank "a few" glasses or cups a day I would have constant cystitis.

HangryBrickShark · 05/03/2026 11:26

Aged 55 female. About 12 - 14 times during the day and once during the night.

Interestingly when I first started Slimming World and started drinking copious amounts of water I started off going every hour but then my body became used it after a while and I probably only went six or seven times during the day.

Caffeine makes you go more in my experience. I drink ten or eleven mugs of tea or coffee a day so it's a constant waterfall for me. Doesn't do my kidneys any good drinking that much caffeine. I rarely drink water/pop. I prefer milky/ creamy to citrus.
