"dismissed from a Tory thinktank for being unable to think."

😂

Crace at the absolute pinnacle of his game. ❤️

MP Joani Reid resigns the Labour whip, her husband was arrested on suspicion of spying for China

If she's as blindsided by this as she makes out, I expect she's got a lot to process regarding her marriage.

Notonthestairs · 06/03/2026 08:33

Farage has gone very quiet hasn't he. I suspect doesn't want to be asked too many awkward questions and be put on the record anywhere. Coward.

One of the other two, Matthew Aplin, is an ex member of Reform.

Badenoch is on the BBC at the moment, she is fucking awful. She wants Britain to go to war.

She just said that she is trying to explain something complicated by over simplifying it to ridiculous analogies about arrows.

She thinks the British are stupid.

We are not. She is arrogant and frankly not that bright herself.

She wants Britain to send planes to bomb Irans nuclear sites (that Trump said were destroyed last June).

Fucking hell she now thinks 4000 extra imaginary troops is a large number.

She has also conveniently forgotten that the government(s) she was part off caused this lack of investment.

She is pathetic.

Is he? I have only seen references that he was a former Labour staffer.

Yet she was worried this time last year about the prospect of war. She said:

I thank the Prime Minister for that answer. All of us in this House know that the British armed forces are a huge source of pride to our country. They put themselves in harm’s way to defend our values. As the Opposition, we support efforts to resolve the conflict, but we cannot write a blank cheque. If British peacekeeping troops in Ukraine were attacked—whether directly or via proxies—we could be drawn into conflict with Russia. Can the Prime Minister reassure all those who are concerned about the UK being drawn into war?

Can't be upsetting Dear Vlad, now.

Apparently he did say Starmer’s war response was ‘pathetic’ - he referred to our allies as the US (special relationship) and it being ‘embarrassing’ that France was defending Cyprus - he just confirms with every breath he’s unfit to be in the U.K. parliament.

He also seems to be getting out of touch with widespread opinion, which is good.

DuncinToffee · 06/03/2026 09:13

I see that being echoed on the thread about Starmer. Posters also go to great lenghts avoiding saying whether or not they agree with the government.

Yep. They just go on about Starmer's voice etc.

MsJinks · 06/03/2026 09:33

Farage didn’t agree with Libyan ‘intervention’ and blamed it for the migrant crisis and I think he’s generally been anti most similar wars - till this one - mirroring Trump really.
Tice was asked about welcoming Iranian refugees on boats the other day but evaded the answer.

SerendipityJane · 06/03/2026 09:40

I am vaguely suspicious of the obsession with a single ship. Either it's a sad (or wonderful ?) reflection on the fact that as Britain has been at peace so long, we have forgotten quite how wars work. Or it's the end result of a lot of botting.

Also fascination with ships, guns and planes really seems better suited to a lads chat Friday evening in the pub. It seems a little artificial out of place.

Karistyleaftea · 06/03/2026 10:05

@placemats Wonder if that will be reported on the BBC.

SerendipityJane · 06/03/2026 10:10

Theo Bell - Reform UK - 786
Julie Ann Griffiths - Labour Party - 1,004
Dorothy Luckhurst - Conservative Party - 61
Isaac Short - Green Party - 95
Neil Thompson - Liberal Democrats - 38

The predicted demise of the Tories continues apace. I bet they are so glad they seized the Brexit bomb. It must have been a supreme effort of will to have resisted leaving it to destroy Labour.

Can't find it in the local news on the website.

Surprise!

PickAChew · 06/03/2026 10:38

Baby steps.

5 seats on what was a Labour council for donkey's years, though.

And our snow is breaking news 🙄

Murton - ex mining village - the tories never got established enough there to have a demise.

Still 60 Reform councillors though :(
