I just stomached a bit of Farage's press conference. He was getting very arsey with Beth Rigby (I think it was her, could only hear her voice) about council tax rises.

What was really noticeable was Jenrick in the background, nodding along, often prompted by Farage. The expression on his face was that of a man who knows he has fucked his career.

Nodding Bob Jenrick is my new name for him.

I suspect he was lured to Reform by a torrent of sunlit uplands talk from Farage. When he got there, he found it was Brexit all over again.

There must be an event horizon where the gossip from the tory-party-in-exile (i.e. Reform) gets to current Tory MPs. It may well have happened. Does St. Kemi look especially smug these days ?

I just saw a clip, are they standing outside a petrol station/car wash?

looks very 'Four Seasons landscaping'

Forever consigned to the back car seat.

Yeah it's a petrol station in Derbyshire [shrug]

Just been reading about the new V levels as are likely to be an option for my kids. I'm glad to see more attention paid to the colleges and vocational routes, but this needs to be backed up with a strategy for better careers advice and a route into paid work. That also means incentivising employers - it's a tough sell to take on a young person if you run a small business, knowing you will have to train them up, often leading to a dip in your own productivity whilst that happens. The rise in NI and potential new employment regulations also stacks the case against taking a chance against someone.

DuncinToffee · 10/03/2026 17:20

I heard something about V levels on the radio but there doesn't seem to be much information in the news

If his career is over, the only sad thing is how long is has lasted. Hopefully whatever political shade, the next MP for Newark is not a law breaker.

Bigly expensive gâteau.

Wasn't it brioche? I do like brioche.

Another day, another time to be glad I left Derbyshire.

Sounds like it was pretty dire even where they may be expected to have supporters, and do well. But what a stupid stunt - he can’t out stunt Davey for sure!

Farage hates being quizzed - he is only happy when he can expound his ignorant, contradictory and condescending views without interruption- I don’t think this parliamentary career will work out so well for him in the long run actually, as he’s going to get asked things more and more and he hates it and looks bad (well biglier bad than average).

Maybe work out slightly better than Bob’s though, who has an absolute knack of getting things wrong.

Interesting...these will be hopefully be options for my lot so i will watch carefully. Ive heard nothing from school!

Apparently the petrol station was offering reduced petrol for the day. Nice to see Farage is looking after his constituents in Clacton.

Hereditary peers will no longer have the right to sit and vote in the House of Lords in one of the biggest reforms to Parliament in a generation.

About time. Good work from Labour here.

PickAChew · 10/03/2026 22:09

An excellent move. There is a place for a second chamber but it shouldn't be populated with people who are there purely through birthright.

Didnt they do this years ago?

Blair had to compromise and leave 90 hereditary peers in place.

Except if you look at the ‘reduced’ price it appears they inflated it first before reducing it back to not even cheap petrol.

So does that mean more peers appointed by parties in the HoC?

Jenrick on GMB now being held completely to account for “Farages u turn”

Hes just talking words

Yes thats all true but it wont stem the flow of votes from Labour to other parties, not least the Greens.

Labour need to start bring forward policies that people can actually relate too and see in their day to day lives.... so far this just isn't happening & time is running out.
